Chapter 136: We Really Can't Afford to Offend Them
As soon as Gong Lu returned, Yuan Rulan issued a command: "I don't care what method you use, and I don't care whether Ye Luo's grades are actually good or not, you must make her admit that she cheated on the monthly exam."
Only then could her daughter's major disciplinary record be expunged.
Gong Lu had just returned to the villa with Ye Luo when he received the call from Yuan Rulan summoning him home. The moment he stepped inside, these were the words that greeted him.
He merely chuckled softly, remaining silent.
He walked straight to the sofa and sat down, leaning back lazily with one arm draped casually over the back of the couch. He laughed lightly, "Mother, are you sure you want to do this? Although Ye Luo lives with me, the person she is actually backed by right now is Ye Wuqi."
"Ye Wuqi! Again with Ye Wuqi! What kind of background does he have, anyway? Why are you so wary of him? Are you saying that our prestigious Gong family can’t even afford to provoke him?!"
Finally, Yuan Rulan’s temper flared, and she lashed out at Gong Lu.
Gong Lu remained calm and collected. He took the coffee offered by a servant, sipped it, and then said nonchalantly, his fingertips tracing the rim of the cup: "Mother, there is someone behind him with the surname Fu. That is a person we truly cannot afford to provoke."
Fu?!
Yuan Rulan gasped, her expression changing instantly.
Gong Lu took another sip of his coffee before rising to head outside.
As soon as Gong Ran heard that Gong Lu had left, she hurried downstairs and asked her mother anxiously: "Mom, Mom, how did it go? Can my disciplinary record be cleared?"
Yuan Rulan didn't mention the name Fu, saying only: "From now on, you are forbidden from provoking Ye Wuqi!" She paused, still feeling uneasy, and added: "And you are not to provoke anyone close to him, either!"
It was clear the disciplinary action could not be undone.
Upon hearing this, Gong Ran was devastated.

The next day, as soon as Ye Luo entered the school, people stared at her with excitement and reverence, as if she were a deity.
In truth, she was nothing of the sort.
She was simply from the future.
A future where her genetics and various other capabilities were far superior to those of the present era.
Ignoring the gazes of others, she walked straight toward the teaching building where her classroom was located.
However, before she even reached the building, she saw from a distance that there were two lines forming at the entrance of her classroom corridor. The queues snaked all the way from her classroom door down to the ground floor.
Even at the bottom of the stairs, the lines didn't end; they stretched long and thin along the school path.
Everyone in the queues was wearing a school uniform.
It was obvious they were all students.
She could hear Yan Baba, Lei Xingxing, and Qin Zhaoyu shouting loudly to maintain order in the lines:
"Keep the lines straight, everyone, keep the lines straight!"
"Don't push! We told you, there’s enough for everyone! As long as you have the money!"
"Hey, no cutting in line! Do you want me to kick you? Go! Get to the back!"
It seemed they were selling something.
***
It was something paper-like.
As someone paid money at her classroom door and walked away happily clutching a piece of paper, the line moved forward just a little.
Ye Luo didn't ask anyone what was happening. She simply bypassed the two long queues and, disregarding the eyes on her, walked straight to the classroom door.
Only then did she realize that a desk had been placed at the front entrance, blocking the doorway.
Qin Zhaowen and Qian Xiaoxing were sitting inside; one was selling the papers while the other collected the money. Ye Wuqi was leaning against them happily, eating his breakfast while counting the cash he had just received.
Ye Luo picked up one of the papers to examine it.
In the center of the paper, in a frame, were the four eye-catching characters: "Ye Luo" and "Academic God." On either side of these characters stood two long rectangular boxes.
In one box, it read, "Guessed everything right," and in the other, "Knew every answer."
There was also a horizontal banner: "Pass every exam."
Ye Luo: "..."
Was this, perhaps, the legendary... "Pass Every Exam" talisman?
