Chapter 46: Do I Really Need to Teach You This?
“God of Translation?” Gong Lu raised an eyebrow.
“Yes, the God of Translation,” Song Linfeng nodded. “Because he translates incredibly fast. No matter how many words, he can finish within ten minutes, and it’s always precise and fluent, not a single mistake.”
“That truly is godlike.” Gong Lu smiled. The next moment, his tone turned indifferent as he issued an order: “Go poach him. Replace Translator Li.”
“Translator Li will probably cry over this…”
“Our company doesn’t keep idle people. If you’re paid that much, you need to be worth it.” Gong Lu was still smiling, but his words were cold as ice.
“Well… that’s true, but I don’t think we can poach him.”
“Oh?” Gong Lu’s gaze sharpened.
“Apparently, this God of Translation has a massive team behind him. Otherwise, there’s no way he could translate so quickly. Do you really want to bring over that many people? And besides, this God of Translation only does written translations. No one knows if he’s any good at interpreting…”
Gong Lu replied lightly, “How long have you worked for me? Do I still need to teach you these things?”
Song Linfeng immediately straightened up as if facing a formidable enemy, turned and strode out. “I’ll go register an account right now and ask that God of Translation whether he has a team behind him. If he doesn’t, and if he’s just as good at interpreting, I’ll bring him to our company!”
But when Song Linfeng registered an account on the ‘Top Translation Forum’ and sent a private message to the user ‘YL’, he waited and waited, but received no reply.
…
Ye Luo was still shopping at the mall and hadn’t seen the message, so naturally, she didn’t reply.
It wasn’t until three in the afternoon that Ye Luo finally finished her shopping. As soon as she returned to the villa, she saw Gong Lu standing on the second-floor balcony, gazing into the distance at something she couldn’t discern.
This was Gong Lu’s house. He came and went as he pleased, stood wherever he wanted in it, and she didn’t care. She simply went upstairs, carrying her newly bought laptop, and began dismantling it.
Only by taking it apart could she modify it.
Butler Wang stood at her doorway, hesitating for several seconds as if wanting to speak, then hurried away.
Ye Luo didn’t care where he went and continued dismantling her computer. Thanks to her keen hearing, she soon caught the sound of Butler Wang’s voice drifting up:
“Sir, Miss Luo is behaving strangely. She bought a new laptop, but started taking it apart before even using it.”
So Butler Wang had gone to report this to Gong Lu.
“I wanted to ask her why she was doing that, but then I remembered you told me before not to interfere with her, to let her do as she pleased, so I didn’t ask,” Butler Wang continued.
Upon hearing this, Ye Luo’s hands paused for a moment.
Why had he told Butler Wang not to interfere with her? To let her do as she wished?
Before, she’d never bothered to figure out what kind of person Gong Lu was, thinking he wasn’t worth her attention and that soon enough, their lives would have nothing to do with each other. But now, as she pondered, she realized this man was far more inscrutable than she’d thought—impossible to read, impossible to understand what he truly wanted.
Even if he was taking care of He Luo, there was no need to be so accommodating in everything, was there?
“It was just too strange, so I thought I’d tell you,” Butler Wang’s voice continued.
Gong Lu didn’t seem to respond; his voice never came.
Unable to make sense of it, Ye Luo decided not to waste any more time thinking about it and simply continued dismantling her computer.
But then Gong Lu appeared.
He didn’t speak, nor did he enter the room. He simply folded his arms, leaned lazily against her doorway as if he had no bones, and looked at her with an inscrutable half-smile.
