Chapter 56: The Most Mysterious and Eccentric Bar
Ye Luo didn’t care whether Gong Lu saw her or not; she simply continued upstairs. She planned to drop off her backpack, wash her face, and then come back down for dinner.
But after taking only a couple of steps, she was suddenly struck by the memory of Gong Lu’s words from the previous night: “He’s not easy to look after.” Her steps halted instantly.
Was it possible that he’d said that because he already knew the ancestor was the school bully? Quite likely.
Ye Luo nodded inwardly. The ancestor truly was the school bully, and absolutely not easy to handle.
Yet, something about it was very odd. Given Gong Ran’s personality, if the ancestor opposed her, she would definitely complain, but Gong Lu had never given the ancestor any trouble. Was it because he didn’t have a good relationship with Gong Ran, his sister, and didn’t want to stand up for her? Or did he think the matter was too trivial to bother the ancestor? Or was it something else entirely?
Ye Luo couldn’t figure it out, so she stopped thinking about it. The fact that her ancestor had such a background was even stranger. Perhaps Gong Lu avoided taking sides for Gong Ran precisely because he was wary of the ancestor’s connections.
...
Gong Lu had gone out that evening because he needed to attend an awards gala and present a prize. After fulfilling his role, he left.
But instead of returning to the villa, he headed to “Radiance,” a bar. Radiance was the largest, most luxurious, highest-class, most mysterious, and most peculiar bar in S City. No matter how much some people were willing to pay or how high their status, they couldn’t get in. Others, just passing by and perfectly ordinary, were invited in as top-tier VIPs.
The bar had three floors: the second was the VIP area, the third the exclusive VIP area. Gong Lu went straight to the innermost private room on the third floor.
Song Linfeng followed him in, headed to the liquor cabinet, pulled out a bottle of whiskey, and two glasses. He poured Gong Lu a drink first, then poured one for himself.
After settling into the sofa, Song Linfeng smiled at Gong Lu, “Wuqi said he’s coming tonight too. It’s already ten—he should be here soon.”
Gong Lu didn’t reply, simply drinking his whiskey quietly, his gaze focused, though it was unclear what he was looking at or thinking about.
“Oh, right,” Song Linfeng remembered something. “Yesterday, he arranged for one of his classmates, a guy named Qiao Qingyang, to work here as a server. When he gets here, he’ll probably mention it to you.”
Gong Lu still said nothing.
Meanwhile, Ye Wuqi, dressed casually, nimbly vaulted the school wall and left campus.
It was ten at night, and the streets were hushed.
He followed the wall to the roadside.
At the curb, a black-and-red Lamborghini supercar was parked. Beside it stood a bodyguard in black; as soon as he saw Ye Wuqi, he approached.
“Master Wuqi,” the bodyguard bowed, respectfully handing him the car keys.
Ye Wuqi said nothing, took the keys, slid into the driver’s seat, started the car, and sped off.
The car’s speed nearly maxed out, racing along unhindered. In less than twenty minutes, Ye Wuqi arrived at the entrance of Radiance.
The staff guarding the bar’s entrance immediately stepped forward, “Master Wuqi.”
“Is my brother here?” Ye Wuqi asked, just one sentence.
“He’s here.”
Ye Wuqi tossed the keys to the attendant and walked straight inside.
He didn’t hurry up to the third floor; instead, he went to the bar, asking the manager, “Where’s my friend?”
“Delivering drinks…” The manager was about to reply that Qiao Qingyang was delivering drinks to customers and hadn’t returned yet, but then saw Qiao Qingyang approaching with a tray. He changed his answer, “There he is!”
