Whenever she dined with Gong Lu, they always sat far apart, one at each end of the dining table, facing each other, yet the same dishes were placed before both. Hadn't he said he would accompany her for dinner tonight? So what was this now... Though she didn't quite understand, Ye Luo didn't mind. As usual, she took her seat at the chair she always used. Unexpectedly, as soon as she sat down, not only was a set of utensils placed before her, but another set was also laid out on the chair to her right, across the table.

Ye Luo quickly grasped what this meant. Sure enough, before long, Gong Lu descended for dinner and walked toward her. Uncle Wang promptly pulled out the chair for him, inviting Gong Lu to sit. Ye Luo merely glanced at Gong Lu before shifting her attention to the array of dishes before her: pan-seared foie gras with truffles, caviar-stuffed pomegranate dumplings, sweet-and-sour squirrel fish, sweet-and-sour pork ribs, crispy shrimp, matsutake mushroom tofu soup... and more, all her favorites.

Recalling how Gong Lu had specifically asked Uncle Wang to add extra sugar this morning, she was certain tonight's dinner had also been arranged by Gong Lu himself. Given that, she asked nothing further. Yet she was genuinely curious—how did Gong Lu know exactly what she liked to eat, down to every detail?

Perhaps sensing her puzzlement, Gong Lu picked up his chopsticks and explained with a smile, "These are all her favorites." He paused, arching an eyebrow. "What, you like them too?"

Ye Luo instantly frowned. Why did it feel like he was asking her something he already knew—as if she really was the person he liked? But how could that be! She had never met him before. Among those she had known in the past, none had his inscrutable personality. No matter how she thought about it, it seemed impossible. Eventually, she gave up pondering and simply started eating.

Though Gong Lu sat beside her, Ye Luo said not a single word to him throughout the meal. As soon as she finished, she went upstairs and locked her room from the inside. After showering, she settled before her computer, busy with her translation work.

Last night, a publishing house had approached her, saying they had many bestselling books needing translation into multiple languages. Upon logging into her YL account, she saw the publisher had sent her numerous messages today. The messages all urged her to contact them as soon as she was online, promising to send her the electronic versions of the bestsellers for translation.

It was a substantial business deal—especially since some of their bestselling titles were highly challenging to translate and extremely lengthy. By offering her these jobs, they were essentially putting money in her pocket.

Ye Luo typed at her keyboard, letting them know she was online. Meanwhile, Song Linfeng had once again messaged her persistently today. She chose to ignore him, not even opening the conversation window.

As for the matter of buying a house and moving out, she had already made an appointment to view properties tomorrow; if all went well, she would settle it and purchase a place to live in first. So tonight, there was no need to browse listings. As for Gong Lu's suggestion that she should try and see if she could really move out, she couldn't be bothered to respond; she simply didn't believe Gong Lu was so powerful as to be able to block her plans.

...

The next day, Ye Luo didn't go to school. It was nine in the morning when she finally left the house to visit the sales office at a residential complex called "Courtyard Pavilion" to look at apartments.

The homes there were all fully furnished, ready for immediate occupancy, with extremely convenient transportation. It wasn't far from Seventh High School either—a half-hour bus ride would get her there.
