Chapter Ninety-One: Too Honest for His Own Good
Yeluo began practicing sit-ups at last.
Ye Wuqi saw that their communication was finally no longer blocked, so he turned and left.
Yeluo managed twenty-five in one breath, then stopped. She was only going through the motions; as long as she passed, that was enough. She had no interest in competing over this, so there was no need to do more.
When she looked up, she saw Shen Jing gazing at her with open admiration. “He Luo, you’re amazing! How can you do so many? And so fast? I’ve only ever seen my baby manage that speed.”
“Your baby?” Yeluo asked casually as she got up and took over holding Shen Jing’s legs down.
“Mm-hmm. My baby. He’s incredible! But I can’t tell you who he is. He won’t let me.” As she said this, Shen Jing even looked apologetic, as though she had wronged her.
Yeluo: “…”
She was far too honest for her own good.
Yeluo had not truly been curious about who Shen Jing’s baby was; it had only been a casual question. Seeing Shen Jing like that, she naturally asked no more and simply had Shen Jing begin practicing sit-ups.
So Shen Jing started. She could struggle up slowly four times, but by the fifth, after going back down, she could hardly rise again.
This level of stamina…
Yeluo glanced around and found that there were quite a few like Shen Jing.
She then looked over at Ye Wuqi and the others, only to discover that, aside from Qian Xiaoxing, the rest had not waited until the end-of-term exam at all. They had taken the sit-up test with the P.E. teacher that very day, and every one of them had scored excellent.
After that, Ye Wuqi and the others played basketball, played badminton, and did not practice sit-ups at all.
Qian Xiaoxing merely stood to the side, watching them play.
“He Luo, I can’t get up. Could you pull me a little? Please?” Shen Jing struggled for a while, but truly could not rise, and could only plead pitifully for Yeluo’s help.
“Mm.”
With Yeluo’s help, Shen Jing could get up, and she even reached the passing number, but she could not do it within the required time.
Yeluo did not practice any further herself. She simply held Shen Jing’s legs down while Shen Jing practiced. Only when Shen Jing was truly exhausted, when she could no longer rise at all and even Yeluo’s help was useless, did Yeluo stop.
By then, the class bell had also rung.
“Boss Luo, let’s go.” Ye Wuqi, dressed in a basketball uniform and spinning a basketball in one hand, called to Yeluo, motioning for her to head back to the classroom with them.
Yan Baba, Lei Xingxing, and Qin Zhaoyu were also in basketball uniforms, which made their long legs and tall frames seem even more striking.
Qin Zhaowen and Qian Xiaoxing were in school uniforms.
Still, they were all looking at Yeluo; some even waved at her, urging her to come along with them quickly instead of dawdling.
Yeluo first glanced at Shen Jing, then walked toward Ye Wuqi and the others, intending to return to the classroom with them. But before she could reach their side, Gong Ran stopped her.
“I’ve got something to say to you!” Gong Ran snapped.
“Gong Ran, are you looking for a beating?” Qin Zhaoyu’s fiery temper flared at once, and he was about to storm over.
But after only two long strides, Yeluo told him, “You go back first.”
Yan Baba immediately objected. “She’ll bully you!”
Ye Wuqi, however, agreed, grinning as usual. “If she dares to bully Boss Luo, we’ll put a sack over her head tonight.”
Gong Ran’s eyes flew wide open.
Ye Wuqi did not even look at her. As soon as he finished speaking, he kept spinning the basketball in his hand and laughed his way back to the classroom with Yan Baba and the others.
Yeluo said nothing. She simply watched quietly as Ye Wuqi and the others grew farther and farther away.
In the end, it was Gong Ran who lacked patience. She spoke first, her tone sharp with irritation. “Why haven’t you gotten the hell out of the Seventh High School yet? It’s been more than two weeks already!”
