A low, gentle voice escaped from Wen Yichen’s throat. At that moment, he resembled a little puppy eagerly waiting to be fed. Jiang Muwen was startled, staring at Wen Yichen for a moment before quietly offering him the chopsticks.

Before the chopsticks even reached Wen Yichen’s mouth, he leaned forward on his own accord and bit off all the noodles wrapped around them. The young man lowered his gaze, his thick, long eyelashes casting a faint shadow under the dim yellow light.

He chewed the noodles leisurely, savoring the taste of the instant noodles soaked in broth, a flavor tinged with rivalry. Calmly, he lifted his eyes; the faint light shimmered in his pupils, coloring them with tiny fragments of light.

“Is it good?” Jiang Muwen asked instinctively.

“It’s okay,” Wen Yichen replied indifferently. It was just instant noodles, after all. Silently, he glanced back down at the bowl. His eyes instinctively tightened at the sight of the egg floating on top. Good grief, it’s just noodles; why add a poached egg?

Jiang Muwen seemed to notice his lingering gaze on the egg. Following his eyes, she looked at the egg in the bowl, then back at the boy before her. "Do you want to eat it?"

“You eat it,” Wen Yichen obediently sat quietly beside her.

“By the way, what about those guys? Surely they haven’t all gone to sleep?” Jiang Muwen asked curiously. Judging by their personalities, wouldn’t they be partying all night? Why was the villa so quiet tonight?

“They’re downstairs in the recreation room, playing video games,” Wen Yichen answered.

No wonder the villa was unusually quiet tonight.

Jiang Muwen nodded and took another bite of noodles. “Then why don’t you go play?”

“Not interested.” Wen Yichen’s eyes were calm, though inside, a storm brewed. As long as Gu Nian existed, and Jiang Muwen wasn’t by his side, he couldn’t settle down to enjoy playing games.

After Jiang Muwen finished all the noodles in her bowl, her hunger had faded somewhat. She put down her chopsticks and leaned back against the chair with satisfaction. The warmth of May, combined with the cozy light, made her feel surprisingly drowsy.

“So sleepy,” Jiang Muwen said in a soft, childlike voice.

“Don’t sleep. I’m taking you somewhere.” Before Jiang Muwen could react, she felt a warm touch on her wrist, followed by a gentle pull. Wen Yichen held her wrist firmly and, wearing slippers, walked in the opposite direction.

“Where are we going?” Jiang Muwen asked, puzzled. The surrounding light grew dimmer, leaving only the pale moonlight falling on Wen Yichen, outlining his delicate silhouette in the darkness.

“To watch the sunrise,” Wen Yichen said, his grip on her wrist tightening slightly, as if afraid she might slip away.

Knowing Jiang Muwen’s poor night vision, he deliberately slowed his pace. The quiet night seemed to harbor endless mysteries and beauty, inviting one to explore.

Suddenly, a gentle voice whispered in her ear—Wen Yichen’s voice: “Can you see clearly?”

Jiang Muwen responded softly, instinctively leaning closer to him.

The sliding door creaked open, and a soft breeze brushed against her. The spring wind carried a hint of warmth and an inexplicable sweetness. Nearby, the sound of water tinkled like wind chimes stirred by a gentle breeze.

Before her stretched a vast view, and when she looked up, she saw countless twinkling stars. The city lights were too bright, obscuring the stars above, but here, the sky was filled with stars.

Wen Yichen sat down on the ground. Jiang Muwen glanced at him before sitting down beside him.

It seemed like ages since she had seen so many stars. Jiang Muwen tilted her head back, gazing at the stars for a while before her eyes involuntarily drifted to Wen Yichen.

Surrounded by silence, Jiang Muwen cautiously moved closer to Wen Yichen, breathing the same air and feeling time slip away silently. This sweet sensation was something she truly wished to last forever.

“Wen Yichen,” Jiang Muwen said softly, looking at the stars while gently nudging the boy beside her with her elbow.

“Hm?”

“Do you think there’ll be shooting stars?” she asked, a trace of hopeful innocence in her voice.

Wen Yichen turned his face slightly to look at Jiang Muwen. Seeing her innocent expression, he couldn’t help but smile softly. Sometimes, this little girl’s thoughts were irresistibly endearing. After a moment, he shifted his gaze away. “No.”

“Ah,” Jiang Muwen sighed in disappointment, muttering quietly, “I wanted to make a wish…”

Though Jiang Muwen spoke softly, Wen Yichen clearly heard her. His eyes returned to her, a faint smile touching them. “Rather than wishing upon a shooting star, it’s more effective to make your own wishes come true.”

“What if I can’t make it happen myself?” Jiang Muwen asked, turning her gaze from the sky to look at him.

Their eyes met. Wen Yichen slowly reined in the smile on his face, a rare softness blooming at the corner of his eyes. For a moment, Jiang Muwen’s heart skipped a beat. She stared at him, waiting for his reply.

He slowly turned his head away, then a subtle, enigmatic smile curved his lips. Jiang Muwen expected some cynical remark from him, given his nature.

But he said nothing of the sort. The usual “Wen-style poison” did not arrive. Instead, what she received was a gentle laugh, followed by a low, husky voice whispering in her ear:

“Things that come too easily aren’t always good.”

His tone was soft and light, like a dragonfly skimming the surface of a pond, yet it stirred ripples deep within her heart.

After a moment, Wen Yichen’s voice once again cut through the quiet, carrying a hint of teasing: “Why the sudden urge to make a wish? Did you find something you really want?”

Jiang Muwen froze for a moment. The evening breeze fluttered softly, brushing Wen Yichen’s bangs aside. She looked at the boy before her, a smile unconsciously creeping up the corners of her mouth. What she wanted most… was this boy right here.
