Chapter 137: I’m Going to Take a Cold Shower (Second Update)

Jiang Muwen was rendered speechless by the retort. She had never expected Wen Yichen’s trip to Russia to upgrade his talent for arguing from level ten to level twenty. With the tips of her ears faintly red, she calmly opened the homework in her hands as though nothing had happened.
In the past, Jiang Muwen had always completed her holiday assignments according to the principle that anything worth copying was worth copying. But ever since she had begun studying with Wen Yichen, she had done almost all her homework under his watchful eye. Although Wen Yichen was usually quite kind to her, the moment tutoring began, he transformed into the ruthless Abbess Miejue. The real challenge was no longer the problems themselves, but her racing heartbeat.
There was no denying that the sweltering heat after the power went out was like being trapped inside a furnace. Jiang Muwen was already too overheated to settle down, and the pile of tedious mathematics problems only made her more irritable.
Unfortunately, Wen Yichen was not saying much either, and the atmosphere soon grew strange.
“Wen Yichen.” At last, Jiang Muwen ventured to speak.
“Hmm?” he replied lazily, propping his head up with one hand as he gazed at the girl before him.
“Could you explain it to me one more time?”
The familiar words once again reached Wen Yichen’s ears. The moment she said them, he knew that the girl still had not understood the problem he had just explained.
He sighed instinctively, then pulled out another sheet of white paper. Perhaps because of the heat, he seemed reluctant even to speak. But since he had to teach this troublesome little pupil, he could only keep it brief, explaining as he wrote and sketched on the paper.
In truth, Jiang Muwen could barely take in a word he said. The sticky discomfort clinging to her body made it difficult for her even to sit still.
“Do you understand now?” Wen Yichen finally set down his pen, signaling the end of the lesson.
Jiang Muwen stared guiltily at his notes. For a moment, she was too embarrassed to admit that she still did not understand.
When she gave no response, Wen Yichen continued, “So, which answer should you choose?”
The instant he finished speaking, Jiang Muwen’s body gave a small tremor.
Damn it. The moment she had feared most had arrived.
“Choose…” Jiang Muwen stared at the four options. There was a twenty-five percent chance of guessing correctly. If she picked one at random, perhaps she would get lucky.

“A?” Jiang Muwen asked cautiously.
“How did you determine that it was A?” Wen Yichen asked, following her lead.
“Then B?”
As soon as she finished speaking, Jiang Muwen heard Wen Yichen let out a heavy breath. She did not dare look at his face, but she could more or less guess that he was probably angry.
“There are still two options left. Would you like to guess those as well while you’re at it?” Wen Yichen asked in an eerie murmur.
Yet Jiang Muwen could not hear the slightest trace of displeasure in his voice. There was a hint of laziness in it, and the half-joking tone only made her feel unaccustomed.
Had the heat addled his brain?
“You…” Wen Yichen began, but suddenly stopped. He looked at Jiang Muwen, then only after a moment continued, “Are you hot?”
His attitude had changed a hundred and eighty degrees. The second before, he had looked as though he wanted to devour Jiang Muwen alive; the next, he was as docile as a cat.
His sudden concern only made Jiang Muwen more flustered. She glanced at him cautiously before answering in a timid voice, “A little.”
After she spoke, the air once again sank into a baffling silence. A moment later, Wen Yichen’s voice sounded again.
“Just calm your mind. I’ll explain it one more time, and then you can do the problems of the same type first.”
This time, Wen Yichen’s tone was unexpectedly calm. He really must have been overcome by the heat. After finishing his explanation, he circled two more problems for Jiang Muwen.
Jiang Muwen had grown accustomed to this method of teaching. Just as she began working out the problem on her draft paper, a breeze suddenly wafted toward her. Then another followed.
She instinctively stopped her pen and cautiously glanced toward Wen Yichen.
He was fanning himself—or, more precisely, fanning her.
His face expressionless, he sent the air toward her with the fan. His clean, handsome face betrayed not the slightest extra emotion, making it impossible to tell what he was thinking.

After fanning her for several minutes, Jiang Muwen finally began to feel embarrassed.
“Wen Yichen, aren’t you hot?”
“As long as you don’t annoy me, I won’t be.”
Jiang Muwen was left completely speechless by his answer. She could not think of a single thing to say in response.
“By the way…” Seeing that Jiang Muwen still had not put pen to paper, Wen Yichen spoke again. He looked at her, the tips of his ears gradually turning a suspicious shade of red. “Did you see the Russian nesting doll on your desk?”
A thing that large was impossible for anyone not to notice. Jiang Muwen hummed in acknowledgment.
“What about it?”
“N-Nothing.” Wen Yichen’s cheeks immediately grew hot. After pausing for a moment, he resumed fanning Jiang Muwen. “Do your problems first.”
However, in weather this hot, even the air from the fan was warm. Jiang Muwen could not bear to tell Wen Yichen that it was not helping, so she lowered her head and forced herself to look at the problem before her.
Unfortunately, the problem was far too difficult. Before long, she had forgotten how to solve it again. With no other choice, she relied on her memory and tried writing several equations on the draft paper.
She was still working when the breeze suddenly stopped. A wave of indescribable heat immediately surged over her, as though her body had fallen back into a furnace.
Jiang Muwen cautiously glanced at Wen Yichen. The boy before her was staring at the draft paper with his lips slightly parted, a trace of astonishment in his eyes. Before long, beads of sweat appeared on Jiang Muwen’s forehead. For one fleeting moment, she could not even tell whether the sweat had been brought on by the heat or frightened out of her by Wen Yichen.
“Well, aren’t you impressive?” Wen Yichen said as he folded the fan in his hand. He then fanned himself several times in succession, looking exactly like a disgruntled concubine trying to cool herself down after being angered. “Is this your latest invention—the Jiang Family Theorem?”
The moment Wen Yichen said this, Jiang Muwen felt even hotter. It was as though someone had lit a fire beneath her. She shook her head. The weather was stifling, and she could even feel sweat sliding down her skin.
Unfortunately, she was wearing a white shirt that day. The fabric was already somewhat sheer, and once she began to sweat, it became even more transparent—transparent enough for Wen Yichen to see that she was wearing a pink bra.
The moment Wen Yichen’s gaze landed on it, he hurriedly looked away. The next second, he stood up from his chair.
“I’m going to take a cold shower.”
