Chapter Ninety-One: May I Kiss You?
When Jiang Muyun had just taken the beer from Wen Yichen’s hand, he snatched it back again.
“What kind of man lets a girl drink for him?”
He said it with such calm certainty that it seemed only natural. Taking the can back, he lifted it to his lips and took a small sip. It was only his second time drinking, and the moment the beer touched his tongue, he was still a little unaccustomed to it. His straight brows drew together slightly, then he took a second sip.
Just as he was about to take a third, the hem of his clothes was gently tugged by Jiang Muyun, who was sitting beside him. He stopped at once and turned to her with a puzzled look.
The next second, Jiang Muyun quietly held her phone out beside him. She said nothing, and Wen Yichen very naturally shifted his gaze to the screen in her hand.
It was a video. And when he looked closely, the person in it was none other than himself.
Though the video gave no hint of when it had been taken, just by seeing his own appearance in it, he knew it had been filmed the night he got drunk.
Wen Yichen felt a jolt in his heart, and the tips of his ears slowly grew hot. Hadn’t Jiang Muyun said he hadn’t done anything after getting drunk that day?
Even though he wanted to refuse a thousand times over, a fierce curiosity still drove him to look again at the phone screen. The video was muted. In it, he was sometimes hugging a roadside utility pole with an innocent grin, sometimes singing and dancing along the street, looking no different from a husky that had broken free of its leash.
Wen Yichen said nothing. Watching the video on the phone, a lovely blush gradually rose on his refined face. He coughed lightly, then said in a low voice, “Delete it.”
“Deleting it won’t help. I backed it up a lot, a lot of times,” Jiang Muyun whispered by his ear, and when she finished, she even let out a sneaky little laugh.
Seeing that he had no reaction, Jiang Muyun went on. Her expression was relaxed, as though she already knew exactly what would happen next. “It’s fine. Keep drinking. When you get drunk later, I’ll record a few more clips for you, and I’ll send one to Bai Xu and the others each.”
Wen Yichen said nothing.
“Still want to drink?” Jiang Muyun asked again when he did not respond.
“Let me finish this can first.” His ears red, Wen Yichen drained the beer in the can in one gulp. Once he finished this one, he would not drink anymore.
After he finished that can, he truly did not drink again. The wheel of fortune turned, and this time it was Jiang Muyun’s turn to drink beer. Unfortunately, she was not the sort of girl who could act recklessly with ease either; whenever she drew an utterly hellish dare, she could only choose beer instead.
And so, among the twelve cans, Jiang Muyun alone took half. By the time the game ended, she was already somewhat dazed.
No one realized Jiang Muyun was drunk. They only felt that she seemed a little more docile than before. She did not speak much, her cheeks slightly pink, her eyes lowered, quiet and still, utterly adorable.
She remained that quiet all the way back on the bus.
Perhaps everyone was tired from playing, because there was hardly any conversation in the carriage.
“Gu Nianxi.”
At last, Jiang Muyun called Gu Nianxi in a soft, childlike voice, like a little kitten just stretching out its paw before giving Gu Nianxi a gentle scratch.
“Mm?”
Gu Nianxi turned at the sound. The afternoon sunlight poured into the bus and fell softly across her. She looked at Jiang Muyun curiously, waiting for her to continue.
“Gu Nianxi,” Jiang Muyun called again, then cautiously leaned closer to her. “You’re so cute.”
With that, Jiang Muyun sent Gu Nianxi an air kiss. That startled Gu Nianxi quite a bit. Jiang Muyun was drunk?
To confirm her suspicion, Gu Nianxi lifted her hand and held up two fingers. “Jiang Muyun, how many is this?”
Jiang Muyun looked carefully, then said with a smiling face, “That’s victory.”
The moment those words fell, Gu Nianxi’s heart gave a sudden drop. That was it—this girl was definitely drunk.
After the bus stopped at the school gate, the students dispersed on the spot. Gu Nianxi helped Jiang Muyun down from the bus, and as soon as they stepped off, they saw Wen Yichen waiting outside.
“That’s great, so you haven’t left yet,” Gu Nianxi said as she supported Jiang Muyun and led her to Wen Yichen. “Xiao Wen is drunk. Since you live close to her, please take care of her on the way back.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Jiang Muyun went soft all at once and leaned toward Wen Yichen.
Gu Nianxi watched her like that. The more obedient Jiang Muyun became, the more uneasy Gu Nianxi felt. Her instincts told her that none of this was as simple as it seemed.
Wen Yichen supported Jiang Muyun and said goodbye to Gu Nianxi. Then he took Jiang Muyun home. Jiang Muyun remained silent the whole way, as though she had gone limp.
In truth, Wen Yichen felt the same as Gu Nianxi. The quieter Jiang Muyun was, the more unsettled he became. Who knew what kind of trick this girl might suddenly pull to catch him off guard?
The two of them walked in silence until they finally reached the residential complex.
Wen Yichen had originally thought Jiang Muyun would continue behaving so obediently all the way home, but unexpectedly, she suddenly stopped halfway.
“Wen Yichen.”
Jiang Muyun suddenly called his name, her tone serious, and Wen Yichen’s whole body gave a start.
Did she have something important to tell him?
“Yes?” Wen Yichen stopped beside her and looked obediently at the girl before him, her face faintly flushed.
“I’ve been holding some things in for a long time.”
Rarely so serious, Jiang Muyun genuinely stunned him. The air fell silent. Wen Yichen looked at her, then unconsciously searched through his memory to see whether he had done anything to wrong her. “What is it?”
“But I have to tell you these things quietly.” Jiang Muyun lowered her eyes, looking as though she were about to announce something immensely important. If Gu Nianxi hadn’t said so, perhaps no one would have thought she was drunk.
When Jiang Muyun finished, Wen Yichen’s heart gave another jolt. “Go on.”
“No.” Jiang Muyun pouted, as though displeased.
After a pause, she walked slowly to Wen Yichen and beckoned him toward her, signaling for him to lower his head. “Bend down.”
At that, Wen Yichen obediently bent over. He had thought she had some secret to whisper into his ear, but to his surprise, the next moment she lifted her hands and cupped his face.
“Wen Yichen, why didn’t you kiss me during the dare just now?”
Wen Yichen, caught off guard by the question, was momentarily at a loss for words. Looking at Jiang Muyun, his cheeks slowly began to flush.
Before he could answer, Jiang Muyun’s voice drifted up again, soft and lingering. “Since you won’t kiss me, can I kiss you?”
