Chapter 141: Questioning Identity

Zhang Yun stepped out of the room, seeing Ji William still waiting by the door. She smiled and said, “William, after Yi Han took the medicine, she went to sleep. She won’t wake up no matter how much you call her. Why don’t you go back first? Come see her when you have time.”

Both Zhang Yun and Ji William knew very well that the excuse about taking medicine and going to sleep was just a pretext—a convenient lie. If that had truly been the reason, Zhang Yun would have come out much earlier instead of taking so long. She must have tried to persuade Qiu Yihan but was refused.

Yet, sometimes, they needed such harmless lies to ease tensions between both sides.

Ji William nodded earnestly, “Alright. Since Yi Han is already asleep, let her rest well. I’ll come to see her tomorrow.”

“Mm.” Zhang Yun nodded. “Your uncle is downstairs having tea. Why don’t you go keep him company?”

“I still have some things to deal with. I’ll come to have tea with uncle tomorrow,” Ji William replied with a smile.

“Alright.” Zhang Yun sighed. “Yi Han is stubborn. I’ll try to persuade her more.”

“Thank you, Aunt Zhang,” Ji William said gratefully, his face beaming with joy. He knew that among the important people around Qiu Yihan, both her grandmother and Zhang Yun were completely on his side. This gave him confidence and hope amidst all the conflicts and potential battles ahead.

“Go on with your work.” Zhang Yun smiled, knowing he understood her implication.

Ji William walked downstairs with a strange mixture of emotions. Sitting in the living room, smoking a long pipe, Qiu Hongtu asked with a smile, “Did you see Yihan?”

“Yi Han was asleep. I didn’t want Aunt Zhang to wake her. She really needs to rest now,” Ji William said, smiling.

Ji William drove his Bentley out of the Blue Sea and Sky community and stopped at the entrance. He took out his phone, found a number, and called calmly, “Find the complete video of the Nanda Freshmen Welcome Party and send it to my email. I’m giving you half an hour. I want it ready when I drive back.”

Without waiting for a response, he hung up, put the phone away, started the car again, and left.

Ji William returned to his villa at No. 18 Bund. Just as he parked, his phone rang. He looked at the message: “Video sent.”

He parked, then quickly walked into the elegantly decorated study. Opening his computer and logging into his email, he indeed found a newly received video file. He clicked to download and play it simultaneously.

His expression darkened quickly.

When Qiu Yihan finished singing and cried out, “He won’t come up,” his face twisted with rage. He grabbed an ashtray and smashed it across the room.

A large celadon vase over a meter tall was tragically hit by the glass ashtray, shattering with a continuous crashing sound.

“Bitch. Such a bitch.” Ji William pushed his chair back and stood up, pacing wildly, smashing everything he could see.

“I treated you so well, and you’re not moved. Others left early, and you have chest pains—how dare you go on stage to apologize? How dare you say others won’t come up? Bitch. Bitch. Bitch.”

He thought that was the end.

However, as the video continued, an even more shocking scene appeared.

When Qiu Yihan, having lost one shoe, held a rose and stepped on stage again, Ji William felt as if he were being stripped naked and whipped. Every inch of his body burned painfully, as if still being roasted over a fire.

At this point, he was no longer angry. Or rather, he didn’t know how to vent the fury burning inside him.

He looked at the screen in disbelief at the crying, laughing, coquettish, and beautiful Qiu Yihan.

Is this the Qiu Yihan I know?

From childhood, the overly protected Qiu Yihan was like a delicate white rabbit—pampered, simple-minded, isolated from the world. She was accustomed to being cared for and indulged, never knowing how to think proactively for others.

Ji William was pleased with this because only then could he easily win Yihan’s heart. Only then could he smoothly control her and indirectly take over the grand Qiu family conglomerate.

Old fox Qiu Hongtu was no easy opponent. Only by controlling his daughter could he force him to hand over the conglomerate.

An apology? Such a thing would never come from Qiu Yihan.

“Huaming?”

Ji William walked over and paused the video, freezing the blurry face of Tang Zhong on the screen.

“You’re not Huaming,” he said coldly. “You’re Tang Zhong.”

“Unexpected,” he muttered. “Truly unexpected—a little nobody I overlooked has turned the tables.”

He sat back down and closed his eyes to think of strategies against Tang Zhong.

At that moment, his phone rang on the desk. He checked the caller ID and answered with annoyance, “What is it?”

“Cousin, someone’s trying to kill me. Someone’s trying to kill me. You have to help me get revenge—those little bitches, you have to blacklist them all.”

Ji William interrupted, “What’s going on exactly?”

“Cousin, where are you? I’ll come find you. We need to talk face to face.”

Ji William thought for a moment. Although he disliked this cousin who only used his lower instincts to think, if he wanted to do something to Tang Zhong, this cousin might be a good choice.

“I’m at No. 18 Bund,” he said into the phone.

“Okay, okay. Cousin, wait for me. I’m not far.”

Ji William hung up, looked at the mess he had made in the study, sighed softly, and knelt down to pick up the shards of glass and porcelain.

He was a man with violent emotions, but he didn’t want to show this side in public. Therefore, he had to work harder to keep it hidden.

When the sound of a car horn sounded outside, Ji William had already cleaned the study and mopped the floor twice.

He went to the electronic gate and pressed the unlock button. His cousin Luo Yeyong sped in with a red Ferrari.

Ji William frowned; he disliked such flashy displays that screamed “new money.”

Luo Yeyong got out, looking miserable. “Cousin, I’ve really been bullied this time. I was beaten, my car was smashed, and my face was lost. Where can I go to seek justice?”

“I’m your cousin. They bullied me, so they don’t respect you either. Cousin, make some calls and blacklist those little bitches. Let’s see how they dare act so arrogantly.”

Ji William gave him a cold glance. “If you don’t get to the point, go back.”

“Okay, okay.” Luo Yeyong nervously pulled out a disk. “Cousin, look at this first—this is what I copied from Ziyuan Property. It’s evidence of that bastard hitting me.”

Ji William thought for a moment. “There’s a computer there; play it yourself.”

He wasn’t interested in the video or Luo Yeyong’s petty troubles. But if he wanted his cousin’s help, he had to listen to his grievances patiently. If it was something serious, he wouldn’t mind lending a hand.

Luo Yeyong had only copied the video of Tang Zhong grabbing him from behind and kicking him down, so Tang Zhong’s face appeared as soon as the video started.

Ji William immediately sat up straighter on the sofa.

“Tang Zhong?” he said fiercely. “Enemies really do find each other. This guy bullied me and now my cousin too—does he have beef with both of us?”

“Cousin, do you know this guy?” Luo Yeyong asked in surprise.

“I’ve heard of him,” Ji William replied, uninterested in explaining further. “You said he went to Ziyuan community to see the Butterfly Group?”

“Yes. Baldy saw him enter the Butterfly Group’s house in Ziyuan. But Bai Su, that bitch, denies it, and Zhang Heben even tried to attack with a knife—cousin, you have to help me get justice.”

Ji William’s face darkened as he sat silently.

Tang Zhong went to the Butterfly Group? What connection did he have with them?

Since someone saw him enter the Butterfly Group’s villa, why would they deny it?

What secrets were hidden here?

Ji William looked at Luo Yeyong. “Is there a girl named Tang Xin in the Butterfly Group?”

Luo Yeyong’s face flushed, assuming his cousin had discovered his own troubles. “Yes. When Tang Xin debuted, I liked her quite a bit. I even bought a place in Ziyuan to get close to her. But that little bitch never even looked at me—heh, cousin, are you interested in her too? If you want her, it’ll be easy. The women my cousin desires never escape.”

“Shut your filthy mouth,” Ji William cursed harshly. “Can you think before you speak?”

Luo Yeyong laughed awkwardly and didn’t reply.

Ji William swore a few more times, his anger easing slightly. He sneered, “Tang Zhong went to the Butterfly Group, but they won’t admit it—so tell me, what is his relationship with Tang Xin?”

Luo Yeyong thought seriously. “I don’t know.”

“Find out,” Ji William said through gritted teeth.
