Chen Yang remained at the martial arts school until five in the afternoon before preparing to return to Linhai. Just as he was about to set off, his phone rang. He pulled it out to find that it was Qin Muxue calling.

Seeing her name, his expression shifted immediately. After all, a call from her at this hour might signal that something had happened.

Chen Yang hurriedly answered, only to hear Qin Muxue complaining, "Chen Yang, how many more days are you going to be on this business trip?"

"Uh..." Chen Yang was taken aback. He hadn't expected her to call just to complain about the length of his trip.

"I’m just about to head back now," he replied.

"Oh, so you’ll be home tonight?" she asked.

Chen Yang grinned. "That’s right, wifey. What’s wrong? Did you miss me?"

"Why would I miss you? I was just asking why this trip took so long," she said coolly.

"Alright, alright. I really am heading back now. You know how it is with Mr. Shen—if the work here isn't finished, I can't just leave," Chen Yang said helplessly. He had to keep up the charade; he couldn't tell her the truth, so Shen Donghua became his convenient shield.

Qin Muxue said earnestly, "I didn't mean anything else by it, just asking. Since your trip is over, hurry back."

"Yes, yes, I'm leaving right now," Chen Yang promised with a laugh.

"Mhm." With that soft acknowledgement, she hung up.

Chen Yang pulled the phone from his ear and shook his head with a sigh. He drove back that evening, having entrusted all matters in Dongjiang City to Lin Qianyao, trusting that Lin had the capability to handle everything properly.

When Chen Yang arrived home at nine that night, he found Su Xiaoling and Qin Muxue sitting on the sofa watching TV. Neither had gone to bed yet.

As he walked into the villa, Su Xiaoling saw him and remarked sarcastically, "Oh, look who’s back after running wild for three days."

Chen Yang felt annoyed. "What is that supposed to mean? 'Running wild'? I was out there doing legitimate work."

Su Xiaoling scoffed dismissively, looking at him with suspicion. "Who knows what you and Mr. Shen were really doing? Plenty of big bosses go out and get into all sorts of trouble at bathhouses and the like."

Chen Yang narrowed his eyes and smiled. "Su Xiaoling, you can say that to me, but if Mr. Shen were to hear you, things would get difficult."

"I..." Su Xiaoling’s face flushed. She wanted to snap back, but the thought of Shen Donghua’s formidable reputation made her swallow her words.

Qin Muxue intervened softly, "Alright, Xiaoling, that’s enough."

Su Xiaoling rolled her eyes at Chen Yang, who then walked over to Qin Muxue and said with a chuckle, "Wifey, don't listen to her nonsense. Mr. Shen and I were busy with work; he’s not that kind of person."

"I know," Qin Muxue replied with a nod.

"Oh, right," she added, suddenly remembering something. She looked at him seriously. "My aunt is coming tomorrow. Could you check which restaurant is good and make a reservation?"

"Who? Auntie?" Chen Yang exclaimed, his face contorting into a wry smile. He knew exactly who she meant: Han Xiang, Su Xiaoling’s mother. He and Han Xiang had had some unpleasant run-ins in the past, so the news gave him a headache. Still, he didn't let it show on his face. "Is that so? Well, she’s more than welcome."

"Mhm," Qin Muxue nodded, satisfied. "She’s coming mainly to see Mom. We should treat her well."

"Of course, no problem. I’ll handle the dinner arrangements," Chen Yang said with a smile.

The next morning at ten, a travel-worn Han Xiang arrived at the house. She sat on the sofa and immediately asked with concern, "Xue, how is your mother doing?"

"Auntie, don't worry," Qin Muxue replied with a smile. "Mom is doing very well. Chen Yang has been giving her acupuncture treatments."

"Who is giving her acupuncture?" Han Xiang asked, her voice rising in alarm, as if her tail had been stepped on.

"Mom, it’s Chen Yang," Su Xiaoling said from beside her, sounding weary.

Han Xiang stared at Chen Yang for a moment before turning back to Qin Muxue. "Xue, what were you thinking?"

Qin Muxue wore an awkward smile. Chen Yang, having expected this, felt perfectly relaxed. "Auntie, what do you mean? What’s wrong with me treating my mother-in-law?"

"You know how to practice medicine?" Han Xiang asked skeptically.

"Yes, why wouldn't I?" Chen Yang replied with a faint smile.

Han Xiang stared at him intently for two seconds before turning to Qin Muxue. "Xue, let’s go see your mother now."

"Yes, okay," Qin Muxue agreed. They, along with Su Xiaoling and Chen Yang, headed to the hospital.

Once in the room, Han Xiang held her sister Han Qin’s hand and exchanged pleasantries, but soon steered the conversation. "Sister, you’re not receiving standard medical treatment here? It’s just Chen Yang treating you?"

Han Qin nodded gravely. "That’s right."

Han Xiang frowned, her voice rising. "Sister, you really should trust the hospital and the doctors."

Han Qin glanced at Chen Yang by the bedside and said calmly, "Chen Yang’s skills are actually quite good."

"No matter how good he is, can he be better than professional doctors?" Han Xiang scoffed.

Chen Yang, who had been standing by the side trying to ignore her, finally felt his patience fraying. "Auntie, are you finished yet?"

"I’m talking to your mother, don't you interrupt!" Han Xiang snapped.

Chen Yang felt helpless. He knew that arguing with a woman was the most foolish thing a man could do. Deciding that out of sight was out of mind, he smiled at Qin Muxue. "Muxue, I’m going out to buy some things."

"What do you need?" she asked. But as she spoke, she realized he was just looking for an excuse to escape the tension. Her expression turned awkward. "Go ahead, go ahead."

Chen Yang gave a wry smile and left. Once out of the room, he called Shen Donghua. He needed to stage a performance to shut Han Xiang up. Since she was staying in Linhai for at least three days, he wouldn't survive the nagging if he didn't do something.

By five in the evening, as the group remained in the hospital room, Shen Donghua suddenly appeared at the door, followed by two subordinates carrying fruit baskets. Shen Donghua looked at Chen Yang and said, "Chen Yang, this place was hard to find."

"Oh, if it isn't Mr. Shen! Come in, come in!" Chen Yang rushed to the door, greeting him with a bright smile.

It was a performance they had orchestrated together, using Shen Donghua’s influence to silence Han Xiang. Qin Muxue and her father were stunned; they knew full well just how famous Shen Donghua was in Linhai.

"Mr. Shen, why are you here?" Qin Muxue asked in surprise.

Shen Donghua chuckled. "What, President Qin? Are you not welcoming me?"

Qin Muxue’s expression changed, and she quickly added, "How could that be? Please, come in."

Shen Donghua looked at Chen Yang and laughed. "Chen Yang, why didn't you tell me your mother-in-law was ill sooner? If I had known, I would have come to visit earlier."

"Mr. Shen, I know how busy you’ve been," Chen Yang replied with a laugh.

Beside them, Han Xiang leaned toward Qin Muxue and whispered, "Xue, which company is this Mr. Shen from?"
