Chapter 133: I Can Handle This Matter
Qin Muxue whispered, "You mean President Shen from Huading Company?"
"Huading Company? That sounds quite famous. Why would he show so much respect to Chen Yang?" Han Xiang continued to ask in a low voice.
Hearing this, Qin Muxue gave a bitter smile and said, "Aunt, how would I know? But lately, Chen Yang has been working for President Shen, and it seems President Shen values him quite a bit."
"He's working for President Shen?" Han Xiang’s eyes widened, looking as if she found it hard to believe.
Qin Muxue replied with a wry smile, "Yes, Aunt. Actually, Chen Yang has been doing quite well recently."
"Oh, is that so?" Han Xiang responded awkwardly.
As Han Xiang was chatting with Qin Muxue, Shen Donghua, accompanied by two subordinates, walked over to Han Qin’s hospital bed and asked, "Mrs. Han, how are you feeling now?"
Han Qin smiled broadly and said, "President Shen, you are so busy with a thousand things to attend to; you really shouldn't have come to visit me. It’s too much trouble, really."
Shen Donghua chuckled. "Chen Yang is a fine young man. He has helped me a lot lately, and I’m planning to promote him to be my secretary in a while, with a five-figure monthly salary. When he was working with me the other day, I happened to hear that you were ill, and quite seriously at that, so I made a special trip to check on you."
"Oh, really? Thank you, thank you so much," Han Qin said with a beaming smile, though she was astonished inside. It seemed Chen Yang was doing quite well for himself; Shen Donghua was actually going to pay him a five-figure salary? Wouldn't that be hundreds of thousands a year?
Qin Guoshan’s eyes also lit up. He wasn't foolish; he could see that Shen Donghua thought highly of Chen Yang. And a five-figure salary—that was no small sum.
With this in mind, Qin Guoshan looked at Chen Yang seriously and said, "Chen Yang, it’s rare for someone like President Shen to value you so much. You must work hard."
"Chen Yang is a good man with a promising future," Shen Donghua said, patting Chen Yang firmly on the right shoulder twice.
Seeing that the time was right, Chen Yang deliberately looked at Han Xiang and smiled faintly, "President Shen thinks highly of me, but there are still people at home who don't think much of me at all."
Upon hearing this, Han Xiang’s face darkened instantly. She knew full well that Chen Yang was talking about her.
Han Xiang looked displeased and felt a bit angry, but with President Shen present, she couldn't say anything and kept her frustration to herself.
After speaking with a smile, Chen Yang turned to Qin Muxue and said, "Muxue, I’m going out to have a word with President Shen. Take good care of Mom."
"Go ahead," Qin Muxue replied quickly.
Seeing Chen Yang on good terms with Shen Donghua and his career seemingly about to take flight, she was naturally very, very happy.
Chen Yang led Shen Donghua out of the ward. Once outside, Shen Donghua leaned in slightly and said with a bitter smile, "President Chen, sorry about that earlier. How was my performance?"
"It was great. Truly excellent. You performed very well," Chen Yang laughed.
Shen Donghua gave a wry smile and asked, "Is there anything else you need me for?"
Chen Yang smiled slightly and said, "No, you can head back now. Thank you for your hard work."
Shen Donghua laughed, "What hard work? This was actually quite interesting."
"Is that so?" Chen Yang also laughed. "How about this? Let’s add a little more fuel to the fire tomorrow. Tomorrow, I want you to come and pick me up for work yourself."
For Shen Donghua, this request was simple. He agreed readily, "Alright, that’s no problem at all."
"Good. You head back first; I’ll handle the rest myself," Chen Yang said with a gentle smile.
Shen Donghua nodded firmly, said goodbye to Chen Yang, and turned to leave.
Chen Yang returned to the ward, and Qin Muxue immediately asked with a smile, "Chen Yang, where is President Shen?"
"Oh, he received a phone call and had some business to attend to, so he left," Chen Yang said nonchalantly.
Qin Muxue praised him with a smile, "Chen Yang, you must continue to work hard under President Shen. It’s rare for him to value you so much."
"Yes, of course, but my aunt still doesn't look at me very favorably," Chen Yang said, deliberately looking at Han Xiang. Since he had asked Shen Donghua to come and act specifically to shut Han Xiang up, he naturally wanted to rub it in a little. Of course, he could feel Qin Muxue’s inner joy, and seeing her happy made him happy too.
Seeing Chen Yang bring her up again, Han Xiang rolled her eyes and said, "Chen Yang, I never said anything about you."
Chen Yang chuckled, "That's good, Aunt. I just hope you won't make any more aggressive remarks in the future."
"When did I ever?" Han Xiang said, looking annoyed.
Chen Yang was about to continue, but Qin Muxue, perhaps unable to bear it any longer, interrupted, "Chen Yang, by the way, it’s almost time for dinner. Let’s go downstairs and buy something."
Chen Yang knew Qin Muxue was trying to get him away to separate him from Han Xiang. This was exactly what he wanted, so he laughed, "Sure, I’m actually getting a little hungry."
Qin Muxue nodded with a smile, "Okay, let’s go."
"Let's go." Chen Yang smiled, and he and Qin Muxue left the ward happily.
By ten o'clock that night, Chen Yang, Qin Muxue, Han Xiang, and Su Xiaoling headed home together.
The next morning, true to their agreement, Shen Donghua arrived at the front of Qin Muxue’s villa at eight o'clock, intentionally honking the horn seven or eight times.
Just at that moment, Su Xiaoling and Qin Muxue were preparing to leave for work. Although Han Xiang was staying at the villa, she came out to see the commotion when she heard the honking.
Under the gaze of the three women, Chen Yang waved at them and got into Shen Donghua’s car.
Watching this, Qin Muxue felt an immense sense of pride and was happy for Chen Yang.
Su Xiaoling and Han Xiang, however, had strange expressions, as if they couldn't quite believe that Chen Yang would one day strike it rich.
Seeing Shen Donghua drive off with Chen Yang, Su Xiaoling said with a hint of jealousy, "Sister Xue, it looks like Chen Yang is really going to make it."
"Not really," Qin Muxue said modestly. "He’s just muddling along."
"He backed the right person," Su Xiaoling whispered.
"Yes, it’s rare for President Shen to think so highly of him," Qin Muxue said with a smile.
Su Xiaoling pursed her lips and said nothing more, heading off to work. She had agreed with Han Xiang that her mother would visit her piano training studio at noon, so she needed to get there early to prepare.
When Chen Yang and Shen Donghua arrived at the company, they went about their separate tasks.
Chen Yang had clearly seen the reactions of the three women—Qin Muxue, Su Xiaoling, and Han Xiang—when he got into the car that morning.
He found the surprise on Han Xiang and Su Xiaoling’s faces quite amusing, but he didn't let it go to his head. After all, how much could their opinions really affect him? He still had to focus on getting the North Suburb New City project done; that was more important than anything else.
At six in the evening, Chen Yang finished work on time and went straight to the hospital instead of home, knowing that Qin Muxue and Su Xiaoling would be there.
As soon as he entered the room, he heard Han Xiang talking to Han Qin by her bedside: "Sigh... it’s not easy to get into the Boji Hospital in the capital. You have to know someone inside. I’ve always wanted to go there for advanced studies and training, but I’ve never been able to find a way in."
"You can't find a way? Have you tried asking your dean?" Han Qin asked softly.
Han Xiang shook her head bitterly, "It’s useless. The dean doesn't have the right connections either. Even if he did, would his connections be as influential as those of doctors with powerful family backgrounds?"
Han Qin frowned, "Is it absolutely necessary to go to that specific hospital? Won't others do?"
Han Xiang replied helplessly, "Sister, Boji Hospital is the best in the country. Even the ordinary doctors there are post-docs. Their theories and techniques are so advanced—how could my small hospital compare?"
"Oh, that’s a pity. I don't know anyone either. If I did, I would certainly help you," Han Qin said with a sigh. Being the older sister, she was used to worrying about her younger sister’s affairs.
Han Xiang smiled faintly, "It’s alright, Sister. To study there for two months, even doctors from provincial hospitals can hardly find a way in; you need strong connections in the capital."
"Oh, that is indeed difficult," Han Qin murmured.
Han Xiang gave a bitter smile and fell silent.
Just then, Chen Yang’s voice came from behind Han Xiang, "Boji Hospital? I might actually know someone there." In truth, Chen Yang had wanted to say this for a while, but he hadn't wanted to interrupt their conversation. Now that they were finished, he finally spoke up.
