Qin Muxue frowned deeply at those words. Judging from what her mother had said, something must have happened to her father after all.
Han Qin also realized that something might be wrong. She hurriedly looked at Qin Muxue and asked anxiously, “Muxue, your father isn’t in trouble, is he?”
“He isn’t, Mom. Don’t worry. Nothing will happen to him.” Chen Yang quickly tried to reassure her. He knew Han Qin was still ill and could not afford to agitate her too much.
Qin Muxue understood what Chen Yang meant and smiled. “That’s right, Mom. Nothing will happen.”
Han Qin knitted her brows but said nothing more.
Chen Yang naturally wanted to leave at once and inform Wang Xu to investigate Qin Guoshan’s whereabouts, so he smiled at Qin Muxue and said, “Muxue, I’m going downstairs to buy some food.”
“I’ll go with you,” Qin Muxue said hurriedly.
Chen Yang gave a bitter smile but did not refuse. He led Qin Muxue quickly toward the exit. The moment they stepped out of the hospital room, Qin Muxue could no longer suppress her anxiety.
“Chen Yang, has something happened to Dad?”
Chen Yang immediately turned around and smiled at her. “Don’t worry. With me here, nothing will happen to Dad.”
“Then something really has happened to him, hasn’t it?” Qin Muxue’s brows drew together.
Chen Yang said helplessly, “How about this? I’ll go downstairs first and ask some friends to investigate. You go buy the food and try to stay calm. Whatever you do, don’t upset your mother. Leave things here to you, and leave everything outside to me. We’ll divide the work.”
“You... Honestly...” Qin Muxue stamped her foot anxiously. She had wanted to scold him, but then realized that blaming him would accomplish nothing. The words died on her lips.
“Chen Yang, you have to promise me that Dad will be all right,” Qin Muxue said solemnly.
Chen Yang merely smiled with ease. “Don’t worry. Nothing will happen. I’m going downstairs.”
With that, Chen Yang stopped wasting time and strode toward the elevator. After reaching the first floor, he immediately called Wang Xu.
“Wang Xu, investigate my father-in-law Qin Guoshan’s current location right away. He should have left the inpatient building at People’s Hospital around five this evening. He said he was going out for a walk and has never returned. I suspect something may have happened to him. In any case, investigate immediately—and investigate thoroughly. You must be quick.”
On the other end, Wang Xu nodded at once. “Of course, President Chen. That’s nothing difficult. I’ll look into it right away. By the way, send me your father-in-law’s phone number later. I’ll need it to track his movements.”
“Good. Hurry. It has to be fast,” Chen Yang said sternly.
“Got it, President Chen. You can leave it to me,” Wang Xu replied with a relaxed laugh.
“Good.”
Chen Yang answered softly, then ended the call and sent Qin Guoshan’s phone number to Wang Xu.
He then got into his black Volkswagen Bora and waited.

Time passed second by second. Although Chen Yang felt somewhat anxious, he did not call to hurry Wang Xu along.
At last, after forty minutes had passed, Wang Xu called.
“President Chen, I found him. Your father-in-law is probably being held at a dog farm in the western outskirts. I’ve sent the exact location to your phone.”
“I’m currently breaking into the dog farm’s internal surveillance system. Once I’m in, I’ll draw up a complete map of the grounds and send that to you as well.”
Chen Yang nodded in satisfaction, then laughed. “Having a computer expert by your side really is useful.”
“You flatter me, President Chen,” Wang Xu replied modestly with a chuckle.
“All right. We’ll talk about the rest after I rescue my father-in-law. You focus on drawing the map,” Chen Yang said seriously.
“Understood.”
Chen Yang ended the call and drove toward the dog farm.
Meanwhile, in a dog farm far away in the western suburbs, a row of iron cages stood inside a shed where the dogs were kept. Each cage contained a lively hunting dog.
Qin Guoshan was tied to an iron post. Iron cages surrounded him on every side, and inside them were large hounds that had been starved all day. When they stood upright, they were nearly as tall as grown men.
The dogs were still locked inside their cages, but if they were released, Qin Guoshan feared he would be torn apart until not even his bones remained.
A man wearing sunglasses sat in front of him. He was in his forties. Though his eyes were hidden behind the dark lenses, Qin Guoshan could still see the menace written across his face.
Fear filled Qin Guoshan’s heart. Surrounded by hungry hunting dogs, he was terrified that the men who had kidnapped him might open the cages and release them.
Looking at the man in sunglasses, Qin Guoshan begged in a trembling voice, “Sir, I’ve always conducted myself properly and never wronged anyone. May I ask what I have done to offend you? Why are you treating me like this?”
“Shut up,” the man in sunglasses snapped, frowning.
Qin Guoshan’s brows tightened. “I’m afraid of dying. Please, gentlemen, take pity on an old man of my age and spare me. I promise I won’t report this to the police, and I won’t pursue the matter afterward. We can pretend none of this ever happened.”
“Let you go? You old fool, you really have some nerve. Do you think you’re leaving today without losing a strip of skin or a piece of flesh?” the man in sunglasses said coldly.
When Qin Guoshan heard that they intended to tear off his skin and flesh, his panic deepened. He pleaded urgently, “Gentlemen, what have I done wrong? Even if you intend to kill me, at least let me die knowing why.”
“You want to know exactly why you’re going to die? Fine. Let me give you a little reminder. Your older brother is Qin Guofu, isn’t he? He was beaten so badly that he suffered a concussion and had to be hospitalized. Do you know who did it?”
The moment Qin Guoshan heard this, one name instantly sprang to mind. Naturally, it was Chen Yang.
Grinding his teeth in anger, Qin Guoshan said, “You mean my son-in-law, Chen Yang? It was him, wasn’t it?”
“Good. Since you know, then you understand. Your son-in-law gave my friend a concussion. Do you think I’ll let you get away without losing some flesh?” the man in sunglasses sneered.

Qin Guoshan’s face turned ashen with terror. “What else can I say? What else can I say? I’ll accept my bad luck. I’ll accept it.”
The man in sunglasses gave another cold laugh. “See those? There are twenty-three hungry hunting dogs here. They’ll eat anything that looks like meat, and they have excellent appetites. If I let all twenty-three out at once, there wouldn’t be enough of you to go around. So let’s release three first and let them have a taste.”
“Woof! Woof! Woof!”
The man’s laughter, mingling with the barking of the dogs around them, made Qin Guoshan’s legs tremble. He felt as though he had fallen straight into hell.
The man in sunglasses was just about to give the order to release the dogs when, at that very moment, someone descended from the roof of the kennel. The instant he landed, he moved with astonishing agility and took down all four kidnappers.
The man who had leaped from the roof was none other than Chen Yang.
On the way there, Chen Yang had received the map of the dog farm from Wang Xu. He had realized that a frontal assault would likely alert the dogs and provoke them into barking, so he had decided to descend from the roof and launch his attack from above.
After dealing with the four kidnappers, Chen Yang immediately went to Qin Guoshan and asked with concern, “Dad, are you all right?”
“All right? How could I be all right? This is all because of the trouble you caused,” Qin Guoshan snapped angrily.
“We’ll talk about that after we go home. This isn’t the time to argue. Besides, you don’t know the whole situation, so stop blaming people recklessly.” Chen Yang spoke calmly as he untied the ropes around Qin Guoshan. “Wait here for a while. Once I’m finished, I’ll take you out.”
Qin Guoshan frowned but said nothing.
Chen Yang then walked over to the man in sunglasses, seized him by the collar, and asked coldly, “Were you sent by the Yu family?”
The man in sunglasses nodded.
“I heard from the roof that all the dogs here are hungry. Is that right?” Chen Yang gave a cold smile.
The man in sunglasses immediately realized what Chen Yang intended to do and hurriedly shook his head. “No. Please, don’t.”
“Dad, you should go outside first.” Chen Yang looked at Qin Guoshan.
The man in sunglasses begged him not to, but there was no way a few desperate pleas could save him from what was coming.
Qin Guoshan hurried out of the kennel. Chen Yang picked up a long iron rod from the ground, walked a considerable distance away, and used the rod to pry open two of the dog cages.
With a frigid smile, he said, “Enjoy the taste of reaping what you sow.”
