Chapter 23 Something Is About to Happen
Qin Guoshan and Han Qin were both stunned by what they witnessed. Especially Qin Guoshan—he was utterly bewildered. He would never have imagined that Chen Yang would dare snatch his phone and confront Qin Guofu so directly.
Han Qin, fearing the situation would escalate further, scolded Chen Yang, “Are you out of your mind, grabbing your father’s phone like that?”
Qin Guoshan also reprimanded him, “Chen Yang, hurry up and give me back my phone.”
Naturally, Chen Yang was deeply displeased with the attitudes of his father- and mother-in-law. He was clearly trying to help Qin Muxue, but look at the way they treated him.
Without holding back, Chen Yang said, “Dad, I’m trying to help Muxue solve this problem.”
“What can you possibly solve?” Qin Guoshan snapped, his anger rising.
Chen Yang smiled faintly, “Maybe I can’t solve everything, but at the very least, the ten million sponsorship for Muxue’s company—that was my doing.”
Qin Guoshan clearly didn’t want to argue with Chen Yang. In his mind, this was a matter for the older generation, and Chen Yang’s involvement would do nothing to resolve it.
So, Qin Guoshan pressed impatiently, “Enough talk—give me back my phone now.”
Chen Yang replied coolly, “Don’t worry, Dad. Let me say a few words, then I’ll give it right back.”
He turned to Qin Guofu, “Uncle, are you sure you want to play this game with me and Muxue?”
Qin Guofu snorted coldly, “Chen Yang, what gives you such confidence, hmm?”
“I just want to know if you’re certain—do you really want to go against me and Muxue?” Chen Yang pressed.
“Yes,” Qin Guofu replied without hesitation, his tone every bit as forceful as Chen Yang’s.
Chen Yang responded evenly, “Very well.”
Then he handed the phone back to Qin Guoshan with a smile. “There you go, Dad. See? I’m giving your phone back; why were you so anxious?”
“You’ve grown quite bold,” Qin Guoshan grumbled, clearly dissatisfied.
Chen Yang just smiled and said nothing more. His parents-in-law truly had no idea what he was capable of, so he couldn’t be bothered to argue. It was pointless.
Afterward, Chen Yang turned to Qin Muxue. “Don’t worry, Muxue. With me here, I won’t let anyone bully you. After all, it was your uncle’s family that started all this.”
Muxue’s feelings were complicated. On the one hand, she wanted Chen Yang involved; on the other, she wished he would stay out of it. Her heart was conflicted.
In the end, she decided that, since this was a family matter, Chen Yang should stay out of it. She said quietly, “No need. Dad will handle this. Besides, even if you want to help, can you really manage it?”
Chen Yang chuckled, “Muxue, have I ever gone back on my word to you?”
She gave him a complicated look but said nothing more.
Meanwhile, Qin Guoshan was still trying to smooth things over with Qin Guofu. Chen Yang saw it all but held his tongue—he simply didn’t care to get involved.
In the blink of an eye, a night passed.
Early the next morning, Chen Yang went to Huading Corporation and summoned Shen Donghua. He explained what had happened to Qin Muxue and asked him to take care of it immediately.
Shen Donghua agreed without hesitation—after all, it was a direct order from Chen Yang. Besides, this was a trivial matter for him. Huading’s influence in Linhai City was far greater than that of the Qin Group. Those partners who had been intimidated by the Qin Group into severing ties with Muxue’s company could be brought back with a single call from Shen Donghua.
Shen Donghua went to handle the matter, while Chen Yang sat calmly in his office, as if fishing in troubled waters. In truth, he didn’t see his wife’s difficulties as anything significant. With his current power, such issues were easily resolved.
Qin Muxue had married him thanks to his mother’s connections. In a way, their union was a legacy from his mother’s dying wish. But for five years, he had had no skills, no money, and survived by delivering takeout, forcing Muxue to endure scorn and even humiliation from her family.
Now that he had become successful, he would never let Qin Muxue suffer another slight. After all, this woman had stayed with him through five years of hardship, proving she wished for him to change. It hadn’t been easy for her.
By noon, Shen Donghua had settled everything. Within just a few hours, all those partners who had severed business with Tianmu Company came flooding back.
News of this quickly reached Qin Muxue, who was overjoyed. She soon learned that Shen Donghua had been behind the turnaround, and immediately thought of Chen Yang. It must have been him who asked Shen Donghua for help.
At the same time, in the chairman’s office at Qin Group, Qin Guofu was working when a round-faced young man from the Qin family came to report: Shen Donghua had intervened in the matter.
Qin Guofu was taken aback. He wondered why Shen Donghua would involve himself in his dispute with Qin Muxue. After pondering a moment, he looked at the young man and asked, “Do you know any details about what’s really going on here?”
He couldn’t figure out why Shen Donghua would go out of his way to help Qin Muxue and was eager to find out.
The young man shook his head. “I don’t know the inside story. All I know is that Shen Donghua made a series of calls and brought all those partners back.”
Qin Guofu frowned deeply, thought for a moment, and said sternly, “If you don’t know, then hurry up and investigate!”
“Yes, sir,” the young man replied at once.
After he left, Qin Guofu felt deeply unsettled. He hadn’t expected such a wild card to appear—Shen Donghua, of all people.
That evening—
Chen Yang returned home. Qin Muxue, sitting on the sofa, asked, “Chen Yang, all those partners who ended their cooperation with my company have come back. Was that your doing?”
“Yes. I called President Shen and asked for his help. He got it done so quickly?” Chen Yang replied.
He realized he was getting better and better at hiding his true abilities. But it didn’t matter to him. After all, with twenty billion to his name and as chairman of Huading Group, he simply didn’t want to reveal himself.
He couldn’t quite explain why—perhaps it was the old saying about a man’s wealth inviting trouble, or maybe it was something to do with his mother-in-law, Han Qin. In any case, he didn’t want to say anything.
Still, even though he hadn’t exposed himself, it didn’t stop him from being bold—he simply found excuses when needed. There was nothing wrong with that.
Qin Muxue nodded in understanding and gave him a gentle smile. “Thank you.”
He teased her, “Come on, we’ve been married long enough—no need to be so polite.”
Then he glanced at Qin Guoshan, who was sitting beside Muxue, and said deliberately, “Dad, see? I told you I could handle it, and it’s solved now.”
Qin Guoshan looked at him coolly. “So you asked President Shen for help. What if he hadn’t agreed?”
“Regardless, the problem is solved,” Chen Yang replied.
Qin Guoshan shook his head and said nothing more, turning his attention back to the TV.
Chen Yang settled onto the sofa and looked at Qin Muxue. “Wife, I’m thirsty and craving an apple. Could you slice one for me?”
Qin Guoshan was taken aback to hear Chen Yang make such a request of his daughter. Since when had Chen Yang’s status at home risen so high?
What happened next astonished him even more: Qin Muxue actually stood up and replied softly, “Alright.”
She was simply expressing her gratitude for his help and hadn’t thought much else of it.
Qin Guoshan was bewildered. Was he dreaming? Since when did Chen Yang have the authority to order his daughter around?
The next morning, Han Xiang and Su Xiaoling were preparing to leave. Han Qin, Qin Muxue, Qin Guoshan, and Chen Yang all went to the door to see them off.
Han Xiang bid everyone farewell, then walked over to Han Qin, leaned close, and whispered something in her ear.
Even more strangely, after speaking, Han Xiang gave Chen Yang a peculiar look, patted Han Qin on the shoulder, and said, “Sis, I’m off now. Remember what I just told you—take it seriously.”
Han Qin smiled broadly. “I know. You and Xiaoling, be careful on the way.”
“Don’t worry. We’re adults now—what could happen?” Han Xiang replied.
With that, she gave Chen Yang another strange glance. When their eyes met, Han Xiang quickly looked away, leaving Chen Yang thinking to himself, “Damn, something’s definitely going on here…”
