Chapter Twenty-Eight: The Whole Family Was Bewildered
Qin Guofu’s expression grew cold as he heard this, turning to Chen Yang. “What gives you the right to speak here?”
“That’s right. You’re happy even after being cuckolded?” Xu Meilan sneered.
Qin Muxue, agitated by their words, defended herself passionately. “Aunt, I am innocent. What could possibly exist between President Shen and me?”
“Then how do you explain why Shen Donghua helped you like that last time?” Xu Meilan pressed.
Han Qin, seeing Qin Muxue being bullied, couldn’t find the words to speak up. Xu Meilan’s sharp tongue made her wary; if the argument escalated, it might upset the old man even further.
“Muxue, Chen Yang, you two should go home first,” Han Qin said helplessly, thinking to herself that if she couldn’t fight them, she could at least avoid them.
Telling Qin Muxue and Chen Yang to leave was undoubtedly the best option.
Xu Meilan, seeing this, felt as if she’d struck a nerve and taunted, “Feeling guilty now, and trying to escape?”
Qin Muxue’s cheeks flushed with anger. “Aunt, don’t say such nonsense.”
“What nonsense? Isn’t it the truth?” Xu Meilan replied with a cold smirk.
Feeling deeply wronged, Qin Muxue grabbed Chen Yang’s hand. “Chen Yang, let’s go.”
She took the initiative to hold his hand, wanting everyone in the family to see that her relationship with Chen Yang was solid and would not be shattered by their false accusations.
Hand in hand, Qin Muxue led Chen Yang toward the villa’s entrance. But suddenly, Chen Yang stopped her. “Why leave now? Your matter isn’t resolved yet. If we go, things will just remain unclear.”
“Oh? Chen Yang, what are you implying? Are you saying we’re all making things up?” Xu Meilan glared at Chen Yang with a mocking smile.
Chen Yang looked back at her, calm and unyielding. “If you want to know whether Muxue and President Shen have any connection, why not invite President Shen over for a confrontation? Wouldn’t that settle it?”
His words made Xu Meilan laugh. “Invite President Shen for a confrontation? Who’s going to do that—are you?”
Qin Yan narrowed her eyes with a smile. “Chen Yang, are you actually going to call President Shen here? My, aren’t you impressive.”
Chen Yang merely smiled and, without another word, lowered his head and sent Shen Donghua a text message from his phone.
After sending the message, Chen Yang grinned at Qin Muxue. “It’s done, Muxue. President Shen will be here soon.”
“Really?” Qin Muxue asked doubtfully.
She knew Chen Yang and Shen Donghua got along well, but Shen Donghua was a major figure and Chen Yang just an ordinary person. Why would President Shen come to such a scene for him?
Xu Meilan certainly didn’t believe either, so she said, “Look at Chen Yang, so capable he can call President Shen over. Let’s wait right here for him.”
“Aunt, what if President Shen doesn’t come?” Qin Yan asked, smiling at Xu Meilan.
Xu Meilan replied, “Why wouldn’t he come? Chen Yang is so talented, after all.”
“Yes, last time Yan and I even saw him at the Imperial Pavilion’s top villa, and he claimed the villa was his,” Qin Yan continued, laughing.
At her words, all the Qin family members except for Qin Muxue’s immediate family burst into laughter.
Chen Yang saw their laughter and didn’t mind. Let them laugh, he thought—there’d come a time when they’d be crying.
At that moment, Qin Tianrong suddenly coughed, and immediately, all the Qin family members rushed over to attend to him.
Qin Muxue dared not approach, afraid her grandfather would get even more upset at the sight of her.
She lingered on the outside, with Chen Yang always at her side.
Though Qin Tianrong was ill, he spoke forcefully. “Tell her to leave. I don’t want to see her.”
Qin Guoshan felt uncomfortable at this.
But since Qin Tianrong was gravely ill, they had to accommodate his wishes. He turned to Qin Muxue. “Muxue, your grandfather is in this state—please, just step outside for now.”
Qin Muxue’s eyes filled with grievance. “I understand, Dad.”
She turned and walked toward the villa’s entrance.
Chen Yang hurried after her. “Honey, I’ll go with you.”
Together, Qin Muxue and Chen Yang stepped outside. After a moment, Qin Muxue looked at Chen Yang. “I’m going home.”
“Why? President Shen will be here soon,” Chen Yang replied.
“Will he really come?” Qin Muxue was still unconvinced.
“Yes,” Chen Yang nodded.
Qin Muxue had no idea about the true nature of Chen Yang’s relationship with Shen Donghua, and he didn’t intend to elaborate.
Beep, beep!
As they were talking, a black Mercedes suddenly stopped in front of the villa.
The rear door opened, and out stepped a middle-aged man with slicked-back hair and a stern demeanor.
Qin Muxue’s eyes widened in shock. It was Shen Donghua—no mistake! Who else could it be?
Qin Muxue hurried forward. “President Shen, why have you come?”
Shen Donghua glanced at Chen Yang. “I heard someone is slandering me, is that right?”
Qin Muxue’s face darkened, and she quickly explained, “I’m so sorry, President Shen. This is all my fault.”
“Come. Let’s go inside and clear things up,” Shen Donghua said coolly.
Qin Muxue stared at him in disbelief, unable to fathom why President Shen, such an important figure, would come to clarify such a trivial matter for her. It was simply unimaginable.
Shen Donghua led Qin Muxue and Chen Yang into Qin Tianrong’s villa.
Of course, Chen Yang had already told Shen Donghua not to reveal his involvement—he didn’t want to be exposed.
If Chen Yang didn’t want to do something, he simply wouldn’t do it. That was his style.
As soon as Shen Donghua entered, all eyes were drawn to him.
Qin Guofu was stunned.
Xu Meilan was stunned.
Qin Yan was stunned.
Qin Yan was stunned.
Even Qin Guoshan and Han Qin were stunned.
Shen Donghua had really come.
With his hands behind his back, Shen Donghua’s expression was solemn. Truthfully, if not for Chen Yang’s command, he wouldn’t have bothered with such a minor issue. But Chen Yang had texted him—he dared not disobey.
Shen Donghua spoke gravely. “I came today because I heard someone was slandering me.”
Qin Guofu and Xu Meilan turned pale.
They knew perfectly well who Shen Donghua was referring to—it was them.
They were also baffled as to why Shen Donghua would come in person for such a trifling matter.
“Who is slandering me?” Shen Donghua asked.
Qin Guofu braced himself. “President Shen, how could such a small matter trouble you?”
Shen Donghua’s tone was icy. “The one slandering me is you, isn’t it?”
Qin Guofu’s face was filled with embarrassment; he wished he could disappear into the earth.
He stammered, “Actually, it’s like this—I only heard rumors.”
“From whom did you hear these rumors?” Shen Donghua pressed coldly, making Qin Guofu even more uncomfortable.
“There is absolutely nothing between Miss Qin Muxue and me. If anyone dares to spread baseless gossip about me and President Qin in the future, I will pursue legal action,” Shen Donghua declared coldly.
Qin Guofu and Xu Meilan were utterly humiliated. Shen Donghua had clearly come to slap their faces.
Qin Guofu’s cheeks burned with shame.
After he finished, Shen Donghua glanced around the room and said, “In light of your family’s conduct, I now announce that Huading Corporation will cease all cooperation with Qin Group. This decision is final.”
He gave Chen Yang a meaningful look, received a confirming nod, and then turned to leave.
But though Shen Donghua was gone, Qin Guofu’s face was as dark as charcoal.
What?
Huading Corporation is cutting all ties with Qin Group?
Qin Guofu nearly collapsed.
Huading was their biggest partner; there was a thirty-million project currently being handled by Qin Group thanks to Huading.
Now, Qin Guofu had lost everything—his wife’s support and his business.
“Quick, don’t just stand there—Dad’s face is turning purple! Get him to the hospital!” Qin Muxue’s aunt cried out.
Qin Guofu’s attention shifted to Qin Tianrong.
With his father gravely ill and Huading halting all cooperation, Qin Guofu’s mood was at rock bottom.
“Honey, let’s go home,” Chen Yang said softly to Qin Muxue as the family busied themselves with sending Qin Tianrong to the hospital.
Qin Muxue looked at Chen Yang in disbelief, still puzzled—did President Shen come at Chen Yang’s request, or was he simply there to teach her uncle a lesson?
She asked, “Why did President Shen come?”
“Why? Put yourself in his shoes—if you were President Shen and someone was spreading rumors about you having an affair, how would you feel?” Chen Yang replied with a gentle smile.
Qin Muxue thought for a moment and realized Chen Yang’s words made sense. If she were President Shen and someone talked about her like that behind her back, she’d be furious, too.
