Chapter Thirty-Two: Chen Yang Was Far Too Overbearing
Su Xiaoling was so stunned that she couldn't utter a single word.
What was going on?
Was this a movie shoot?
The young man with the cropped hair who was with Su Xiaoling also wore a look of utter disbelief.
After all, so many people bowing to a food delivery guy—this scene was nothing short of surreal.
Su Xiaoling thought for a moment, then exclaimed, “Did you hire all these actors?”
Chen Yang burst out laughing, unable to restrain himself.
He laughed for a while, then turned to Su Xiaoling, grinning, “You think I hired all these actors? You really say the funniest things.”
Su Xiaoling dared not say anything more.
Seeing that Chen Yang was surrounded by so many people, she worried: if she angered him, what if he beat her?
Yet she felt indignant and said to Chen Yang, “I'm not going to argue with you anymore.”
With that, she moved to get into the car.
But Chen Yang still had much left unsaid; how could he let her leave so easily? Just as Su Xiaoling was about to climb into the car, Chen Yang strode over with Wu Guangde and the others, calling out, “Hey.”
Su Xiaoling’s eyes filled with fear. “Chen Yang, what do you want? Are you going to hit me again?”
Chen Yang suddenly lifted his hand, and Su Xiaoling’s face changed, convinced he was about to strike her.
But he simply brushed the dust off her shoulder.
Su Xiaoling’s heart still thudded wildly. Chen Yang said, “Don’t meddle anymore. Don’t interfere in my marriage with your sister Xue. Can you do that?”
Su Xiaoling swallowed hard. “I’m only thinking of Xue’s best interests.”
“I told you, don’t interfere anymore.” Chen Yang suddenly erupted in anger.
Su Xiaoling’s stubbornness had finally pushed him over the edge.
“Hey, what are you shouting for?” The young man with cropped hair, sitting in the car, refused to cower. Seeing Chen Yang yell at Su Xiaoling, he felt he had to speak up or risk losing face.
Chen Yang had already wanted to teach this young man a lesson, and now, with the man daring to rebuke him, Chen Yang was all the more enraged.
He turned to Wu Guangde and said coolly, “You—handle it.”
Wu Guangde nodded, walked to the car door, and forcibly dragged the young man out.
The young man’s face was etched with terror.
Su Xiaoling shouted angrily at Chen Yang, “What are you doing?”
Chen Yang narrowed his eyes. “From now on, stay out of my marriage with Qin Muxue. Can you manage that? You have no idea what I’m capable of.”
“Fine, fine, fine, I promise!” Su Xiaoling nodded repeatedly, cowed by Chen Yang’s overwhelming force.
“Get lost.”
Chen Yang dismissed her without ceremony.
The young man, having taken two punches from Wu Guangde, was now meek as a lamb.
Su Xiaoling gave Chen Yang a complicated look, then quickly got in the car with the young man and drove away.
As they left, Wu Guangde smiled and asked Chen Yang, “Brother Chen, who was that woman just now?”
“She’s my wife’s cousin,” Chen Yang replied.
Wu Guangde grinned. “So she’s family. She tried to meddle in your relationship with your wife?”
“Yes. She sticks her nose in where it doesn’t belong. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have had to deal with her today.”
Wu Guangde said, “The truth is, you haven’t really shown your true strength yet. If you did, that woman would be falling over herself to curry favor with you.”
Chen Yang smiled faintly. “If I revealed myself, it’d be even more troublesome. It’s fine as it is. Thanks for your help today.”
“It was nothing, not hard at all,” Wu Guangde replied.
“Go home with your men. I’ll buy you a drink sometime,” Chen Yang said.
Wu Guangde chuckled, “Brother Chen, you’re too polite.”
Chen Yang said nothing more, watched Wu Guangde and his men drive away, then turned and walked toward the company.
At six in the evening, Chen Yang returned home as usual.
He was surprised to find Su Xiaoling sitting with Han Qin on the sofa, chatting quietly.
Chen Yang didn’t say anything when he saw Su Xiaoling at his house. If she was here to stir up trouble again, let her. He’d see just how much chaos she could create.
“Chen Yang, come here.”
Earlier that morning, Chen Yang and Su Xiaoling had clashed, so he wasn’t eager to talk to her. He intended to head upstairs to his bedroom, but after only two steps, his mother-in-law Han Qin called him.
Chen Yang kept a calm face and walked over to Han Qin, smiling gently. “Mom, what’s the matter?”
“Don’t joke with me. You’re really something now, aren’t you? I heard you summoned over fifty people to put on a show and scare Xiaoling this morning?” Han Qin demanded.
“Yes, I staged it. Mainly because she insists on sabotaging my relationship with Muxue,” Chen Yang replied coolly.
“How dare you. So if you get angry, you’ll even hit me?” Han Qin asked coldly, staring at Chen Yang.
Chen Yang smiled. “Of course not, Mom. I’d never do that. But let me be clear: no one can destroy the relationship between me and Muxue—not even you.”
“Then prove yourself. Show me you deserve Muxue,” Han Qin demanded loudly.
“How do you know I haven’t already?” Chen Yang smiled faintly.
After he spoke, he thought to himself: Mother-in-law, are you really going to force me to reveal the two billion?
I won’t say a word.
“You’re all talk,” Han Qin said.
Chen Yang smiled and didn’t argue further, heading upstairs.
At half past six, Su Xiaoling stayed for a family dinner. Qin Muxue had returned home, and she too had heard about what happened that morning.
The family gathered around the table. After a while, Qin Muxue looked at Chen Yang seriously. “Next time, don’t do that again.”
“What?” Chen Yang asked with a smile.
At first, he didn’t catch her meaning, but soon realized she was referring to the morning’s incident with Su Xiaoling.
Grinning, Chen Yang said, “Just having a bit of fun.”
“Fun? Who wants to play with you? Your performance this morning was Oscar-worthy—why not try acting in movies?” Su Xiaoling mocked.
Chen Yang replied calmly, “My relationship with Muxue is fine. As long as you don’t try to wreck my family, everything will be just fine.”
“You…”
Su Xiaoling was so angry she could hardly speak, yet couldn’t find a retort.
Chen Yang smiled gently and said no more.
After dinner, each member of the family went their own way.
Su Xiaoling, ever talkative, pulled Qin Muxue onto the sofa for a chat, but Chen Yang ignored her.
The next morning.
At eight, Qin Muxue arrived at the company as usual. She’d barely entered her office when Huang Youlong burst in, beaming. “President Qin, good news—great news!”
Qin Muxue’s eyes lit up with delight and curiosity. “What is it?”
Huang Youlong grinned. “Huading Group has sent the payment for the first quarter—three million in full!”
“Really?” Qin Muxue’s eyes sparkled.
After all, since the company’s difficulties six months ago, the finances hadn’t seen such a large sum in ages.
“Huading Group really is loaded,” Huang Youlong commented.
Qin Muxue said seriously, “It’s a sign of their trust in us. We must take our work even more seriously.”
“Of course,” Huang Youlong replied.
“This money might come in handy later. Don’t use it recklessly for now,” Qin Muxue advised.
Huang Youlong nodded quickly. “I know, don’t worry.”
“Alright, go on with your work,” Qin Muxue said.
Huang Youlong smiled and left the office.
Once he was gone, Qin Muxue felt a surge of relief. Three million had entered the company’s accounts. For a large corporation, that might not be much, but for Tianmu, it was a rare windfall.
She felt lucky to have caught the eye of Huading Group and become their partner.
That evening, Qin Muxue returned home and found Han Qin and Qin Guoshan watching TV on the sofa. Han Qin hadn’t cooked dinner, as Qin Muxue had requested by phone—she wanted to treat the family to a meal to celebrate the big payment her company received.
Seeing Han Qin and Qin Guoshan, Qin Muxue smiled, “Mom, you didn’t cook, right?”
Han Qin replied, “You told me you’re treating tonight. Why would I cook?”
“Where’s Chen Yang?” Qin Muxue asked.
After all, Chen Yang was also invited to tonight’s dinner.
Han Qin’s face turned cold. “Why call him? Tonight, just me, your dad, and you—three is plenty.”
“Mom…” Qin Muxue frowned, helpless.
Truth be told, ever since Chen Yang helped her secure a ten-million sponsorship, Qin Muxue hadn’t disliked him so much.
With his recent good behavior, she saw him more and more as part of the family.
“Oh, Muxue, you’re treating us tonight? What’s the happy occasion?” Just as Qin Muxue was about to call Chen Yang, he came downstairs, prompting a small smile from her lips.
