Chapter Seventy-One: Qin Hao’s Girlfriend Is Attacked
Hearing this, Qin Hao’s eyes lit up sharply. “What’s your idea? Tell me.”
Xu Lili leaned close to his ear and whispered, “A woman’s reputation is everything to her. If you can make her lose her virtue by accident, her life will be ruined forever.”
Qin Hao instantly understood what Xu Lili meant and looked at her with admiration. “You’re pretty ruthless, aren’t you?”
Xu Lili replied coolly, “It’s not as if I’ve never seen something like this before. I’m just pointing you in a direction. Whether you go through with it is up to you.”
“I get it, I get it,” Qin Hao said, narrowing his eyes and nodding.
Qin Hao continued spending time with Xu Lili until midnight. He saw her back to her apartment, and once he left, he immediately called an underworld acquaintance. “Hey, Blackie, are you asleep?”
On the other end, a thug with a dragon tattoo on his arm, dark skin, and dyed blond hair was sitting at a gambling table. He laughed, “Not yet, I’m playing cards. Hao, got something good for me?”
“Of course. I’ve got a job for you. I’ll give you information on a woman. Tomorrow night, I want you to grab her and hand her over to a beggar. Make sure something happens between them. Can you do it?”
Blackie realized this was no small matter. He quickly stepped away from the gambling table and into a secluded corner before replying, “Hao, that’s a big job. Who’s the woman? Must be quite a grudge.”
Qin Hao’s eyes narrowed. “I’m asking if you can do it. If not, I’ll find someone else.”
Blackie was deep in debt, owing more than a million to the gambling houses. He’d done time before and was capable of anything for money. He laughed nervously, “I can do it, but the price won’t be cheap.”
“Two hundred thousand. I’ll pay you after it’s done. That’s the number I had in mind before I called you.”
Blackie’s eyes gleamed. Two hundred thousand was a lot for someone like him. Swallowing with excitement, he said, “Deal, Hao. Just don’t cheat me.”
Qin Hao replied impatiently, “I’ll send you fifty thousand as a deposit in a bit. Once it’s done, you get the rest. But let me be clear: if you fail, you won’t get a cent. Understood?”
Blackie quickly assured him, “Don’t worry. If I take the job, I’ll do it right.”
“Good, I’m hanging up,” Qin Hao said, ending the call.
After hanging up, Qin Hao sent Blackie the woman’s details and the fifty thousand deposit. He knew Blackie had experience with kidnapping, which was why he’d chosen him.
Qin Hao pictured what would happen if, the next night, Qin Muxue was defiled by a beggar. How could she ever show her face in Linhai again? And it would devastate Chen Yang. The thought of Chen Yang’s despair filled Qin Hao with delight.
As for any investigation, he could lay all the blame on Blackie. After all, it was Blackie who would do the deed. It had nothing to do with him.
Qin Hao congratulated himself on how flawless this plan was.
…
Meanwhile, Chen Yang had no idea that Qin Hao was plotting such a vicious scheme against Qin Muxue.
In the blink of an eye, night passed.
—
Early the next morning, as soon as Chen Yang opened his eyes, his phone buzzed under his pillow. He grabbed it and saw that it was Wu Guangde calling.
Knowing Wu Guangde wouldn’t call so early unless it was urgent, Chen Yang pretended to go to the bathroom, sat on the toilet, and answered.
“What’s up?”
As soon as the line connected, Chen Yang asked curiously.
Wu Guangde spoke quietly, “Chen, can you talk?”
“Yes, go ahead,” Chen Yang replied calmly.
“Uh… It’s like this. One of my guys at the casino knows a thug named Blackie. He overheard him bragging that tomorrow night he’s going after your wife—planning to hand her over to a beggar and then…” Wu Guangde trailed off.
“And then that, right?” Though Wu Guangde hadn’t finished, Chen Yang understood what he meant.
Wu Guangde confirmed, “Exactly.”
“In that case, why haven’t you grabbed Blackie yet? Find out exactly what’s going on. And keep this confidential—there must be someone else behind him. Don’t tip them off.”
On the other end, Wu Guangde promptly responded, “Understood, I’ll arrest Blackie right away.”
“Go, and remember—keep it quiet. Don’t alarm them,” Chen Yang instructed again.
“I know,” Wu Guangde replied.
Chen Yang hung up, eyes narrowing with a cold glint. “Damn it, who would do this to Muxue?”
He sat on the toilet for a while, flushed, and walked out.
By then, Qin Muxue had also woken up. Chen Yang greeted her but said nothing about the plot against her. After all, he was still in control of the situation and didn’t want her to worry.
To Chen Yang, this was nothing serious. He could handle it easily. There was no need to trouble Qin Muxue.
At eight thirty in the morning, Chen Yang and Qin Muxue went to work as usual.
At ten, Wu Guangde called again. “Chen, we’ve got Blackie. After a couple of punches, he confessed everything.”
“What did he say?” Chen Yang asked, eyes narrowed.
Wu Guangde replied coldly, “He said Qin Hao is behind it. Qin Hao called him after midnight to arrange it, promising two hundred thousand if he succeeded. Blackie’s a gambler, deeply in debt. As soon as he heard about the money, he agreed. He was supposed to act tonight. Last night, he got cocky and bragged to some friends, one of whom happens to be my guy. That’s how I found out in time.”
“Is that so? If you hadn’t found out, my wife would have suffered tonight,” Chen Yang said coldly.
Wu Guangde sighed, then gritted his teeth. “That bastard, and that Qin—both deserve to die.”
“Enough. Now that it’s happened, I’m going to do something about it. Here’s what I want you to do tonight. I want to deal with someone,” Chen Yang said icily.
“Alright, Chen, just tell me what to do,” Wu Guangde replied immediately.
“Tonight, you should…”
Chen Yang began outlining his plan in a low voice.
At eight that evening, outside Qin Hao’s house.
The Qin family returned home from dinner at eight. Qin Hao took out his keys, opened the villa door, and entered with Qin Yan, chatting and laughing.
But as soon as Qin Hao stepped into the living room and turned on the light, he saw a young man sitting calmly on the sofa, holding a porcelain cup, sipping tea.
Qin Hao and Qin Yan both froze.
After all, entering your home and suddenly seeing a stranger on your sofa would startle anyone.
Qin Hao quickly steadied himself and scowled. “Damn it, Chen Yang, what are you doing in my house?”
The man sitting there, waiting calmly for Qin Hao, was none other than Chen Yang.
Chen Yang took another sip, eyes lingering on the pale green tea in his cup. “You don’t know why I’m here?”
Qin Hao strode toward him, ready to attack.
Chen Yang’s gaze turned icy. “You want to fight? I wouldn’t try it if I were you.”
“Brother, don’t. Why fight him? He broke into our home—maybe he stole something. We should call the police,” Qin Yan suggested.
Her suggestion made Qin Hao pause. He glared at Chen Yang. “You sneaked into my house at night—did you steal something?”
“Qin Hao, I hear you planned to go after Muxue tonight?” Chen Yang ignored the accusation and asked what he wanted to know.
Qin Hao was cunning and would never admit it. He cursed, “Bullshit! What are you talking about?”
Chen Yang slowly stood and looked at him. “Why do you insist on being my enemy, Qin Hao?”
Qin Hao scowled. “Bullshit! What are you saying?”
“Tonight, did you send someone named Blackie to kidnap Muxue and hand her over to a beggar?” Chen Yang pressed coldly.
Qin Hao shouted, “What the hell are you talking about? Who’s Blackie? I don’t know him.”
Bang!
Before Qin Hao finished, a man, battered and tied up, was thrown in from the doorway.
A closer look revealed it was Blackie.
Qin Hao was shocked, as were Qin Guofu, Qin Yan, and Xu Meilan, their faces all darkening.
Chen Yang turned to Blackie, whose face was bruised and swollen, and smiled. “Does seeing him jog your memory?”
Qin Hao, knowing there was no evidence, kept shouting, “I know him, but I never told him to do anything bad! You think you can frame me with just anybody?”
Bang!
At that moment, another woman was thrown in, also tightly bound, her face battered and hair disheveled—a pitiful sight.
Qin Hao’s heart clenched when he recognized her: it was his girlfriend, Xu Lili.
