Chapter Eighty-Four: Kneel Down and Call Me Master Chen
Yu Fanwei took Chen Yang’s rebuke in stride. He picked up the teapot again, poured himself a cup, raised it, and drained it in one gulp. Then he slammed the cup hard onto the table and barked, “You little bastard, if you’ve got the guts, stay right here. Don’t you dare leave.”
Chen Yang sat back down on the rosewood sofa, crossed one leg over the other, and said, “I wasn’t planning to leave anyway. Let’s see what you’re made of.”
Yu Fanwei glanced at him and let out a contemptuous snort. “Who exactly is backing up your confidence?”
“No one. I was born with it,” Chen Yang said with a cold sneer.
“Damn it.”
Yu Fanwei gave a disdainful laugh, then said with open scorn, “Fine. If you want to play, I’ll play with you. Just stay here and don’t move.”
Chen Yang sneered as well. “Then let’s go back to what we were saying. You’ve got nothing better to do than come all the way to Seafront City just to make things difficult for me?”
Yu Fanwei leaned back against the sofa and said, “I hear you’re a solid iron wall—no one can get a hand in on that Northern Suburb New City project, is that right?”
“That’s right,” Chen Yang admitted without the slightest concealment. Yu Fanwei’s words also allowed him to roughly guess why this brat had taken issue with him.
“Damn it.”
Yu Fanwei sneered again, then said with undisguised contempt, “Seafront City isn’t yours, and it’s not your call either.”
“Whether it’s my call or not isn’t for you to decide,” Chen Yang said with a cold, contemptuous smile at the corner of his mouth, meeting Yu Fanwei head-on without giving an inch.
Standing off to the side, Shen Donghua had seen everything. To say he wasn’t worried at all would have been impossible.
After all, the Yu family of the provincial capital had real power behind it. Chen Yang might have strength too, but he had not yet built a force of his own. The Yu family, on the other hand, was already a force—and a formidable one at that.
Shen Donghua could not imagine what would happen if Chen Yang kept fighting Yu Fanwei like this.
After that, Yu Fanwei closed his eyes and rested, while Chen Yang simply picked up the teapot, poured himself a cup of tea, and leisurely sipped it, showing not the slightest courtesy to Yu Fanwei.
Ten minutes passed.
The private room, which had been quiet all this time, was suddenly broken by the loud crash of the door being shoved open. At the sound, Yu Fanwei sprang his eyes open, because he knew his people had arrived.
Chen Yang also opened his eyes and turned toward the door. There, he saw eight separate groups arrive all at once. Each group was led by a young man, and every one of those young men was dressed in expensive branded clothes, obviously from a wealthy background.
Among them was a blond-haired young man with a cropped haircut and a pure gold cross pendant hanging around his neck. Seeing Chen Yang look his way, he frowned and snapped, “What the hell are you staring at, you bastard? You’re the one causing trouble for my Brother Wei, aren’t you?”
The young men led their people up behind Yu Fanwei and, one by one, bowed to him in unison. “Brother Wei.”
As soon as they had finished speaking, the blond young man with the cropped hair glared back at Chen Yang and shouted, “You bastard, get over here now and apologize to Brother Wei.”
“Hahahaha...”
The moment those words left his mouth, Chen Yang burst out laughing so hard he doubled over, clutching his stomach.
His laughter left everyone in the room stunned, even Shen Donghua, who looked utterly baffled.
After laughing for a while, Chen Yang looked at Yu Fanwei with clear contempt. “I thought you might be able to call in some serious people. So this is what you brought? Don’t make me laugh myself to death, will you?”
Seeing Chen Yang dare to humiliate him so openly, Yu Fanwei slapped the armrest of the sofa and roared, “You piece of trash, you ungrateful bastard. Get him. Kill him.”
There were more than forty young men in the group, and they all rushed toward Chen Yang together. At that moment, one person suddenly stepped briskly out from the crowd. He was dressed head to toe in black: a black long-sleeved T-shirt, black track pants, tall and lean. Looking closely, wasn’t this the Racing King, Qin Dong?
A look of surprise appeared in Chen Yang’s eyes. He truly had not expected to run into Qin Dong here. Qin Dong hurried up to Chen Yang first, then turned to Yu Fanwei and said, “Brother Wei, I know him. Let me say a few words to him first.”
Yu Fanwei kept a cold face and said nothing.
Then the blond young man shouted impatiently, “Racing King, hurry the hell up! I’m about ready to start hitting people!”
Qin Dong glanced at the blond youth, then turned back to Chen Yang and said, “Brother, listen to me. Apologize to Brother Wei. Do it now. It’ll be good for you.”
Chen Yang sneered inwardly, though his face remained calm. “Comrade Racing King, what are you doing here?”
Qin Dong said sternly, “Fighting Brother Wei won’t do you any good. I’m warning you because I consider you a friend.”
“Oh, I see. Finished talking?” Chen Yang said with a faint smile.
Qin Dong frowned. Of course he could tell Chen Yang had no intention of listening. With a disappointed shake of his head, he said, “Fine. Then you’d better take care of yourself. Sigh...”
He frowned again and stepped back into the crowd.
At that, the blond youth laughed contemptuously. “Racing King, you’re too naive. You actually thought this kid would come to his senses.”
“If this bastard doesn’t know his own death from his life, what are you all standing around for?”
Yu Fanwei picked up the teapot again, poured another cup of tea, and said coldly.
The blond youth immediately took up the call and pointed at Chen Yang’s nose. “Brothers, all together now. Kill this son of a bitch.”
More than forty young men charged at Chen Yang at once.
Panic flashed across Shen Donghua’s eyes. After all, if Chen Yang had to fight so many people alone, he would definitely be at a disadvantage. Feeling he could not stand by and do nothing, Shen Donghua hurried to Chen Yang’s side and spread his arms wide. “Back off. All of you, back off! Let me see who dares lay a hand on President Chen today? Who dares?”
Though he shouted fiercely, the effect was clearly not much. These young men were all hot-blooded fighters, and seeing Shen Donghua so refined and mild-mannered, none of them cared about his threat.
As they closed in, some with fists clenched and others with chairs in hand, Shen Donghua began to feel afraid too.
The fight was about to erupt when Chen Yang suddenly tapped him lightly on the right shoulder.
Shen Donghua quickly turned around and, sure enough, saw that it was Chen Yang who had patted him. Chen Yang still wore a faint smile as he said, “Against people like this, reason won’t work. Step back.”
Shen Donghua was pulled behind him.
The next second, Chen Yang suddenly lunged forward, seized the blond youth by the collar, and drove his right fist brutally into the man’s stomach.
With a choking cry, the blond youth bent over and spat out blood. Chen Yang kept hold of his collar, forcing him to meet his eyes at level height, then curled his lips into a disdainful smile. “Just now, it seemed like you were the loudest one, wasn’t it?”
As soon as he finished speaking, Chen Yang lifted a foot and kicked the blond youth flying.
That sight left the others, to varying degrees, startled and frozen in place.
But while they were still stunned, Chen Yang had already moved. His fists and feet flashed as he fought; with every punch, someone went down, and with every kick, someone was sent flying.
In no time, more than a dozen of the young men were either clutching their stomachs on the floor or had been kicked clear across the room.
The rest, still untouched, were already showing fear in their eyes.
By then, though, Chen Yang had become somewhat exhilarated by the fight. Seeing the remaining youths still standing there in place, he gave a cold laugh. “What are you all standing around for? I’m only one man. With so many of you, are you really afraid of me alone?”
The moment the words left his mouth, a young man behind him suddenly swung a wooden stool hard at the back of his head.
But just as the stool was about to come down, Chen Yang had already anticipated it. He whipped around and threw a punch, not only shattering the stool but also knocking the young man so hard he spat blood.
After the blow, Chen Yang grabbed the youth by the collar and yanked him in front of himself, then said with open contempt, “Sneak attacks won’t do.”
Seeing this, fear began to creep into Yu Fanwei’s heart as well.
He slowly rose from the rosewood sofa. Though afraid, the thought of the Yu family standing behind him gave him enough confidence to keep up his arrogant, ferocious expression. “Damn it, Chen, you’re determined to make an enemy of me, aren’t you?”
Chen Yang threw the young man in his grip onto the tea table before Yu Fanwei and said coldly with a smile, “Looks like you don’t want to get along with me peacefully either.”
“You’re sure you want to make an enemy of my Yu family?” Yu Fanwei revealed his biggest trump card, naturally the Yu family behind him.
Seeing this, Shen Donghua felt that if he spoke some conciliatory words now, perhaps the matter could still be smoothed over. He hurriedly said, “President Chen, please say a little less. Young Master Yu, you should also say a little less. As the saying goes, when two tigers fight, both can end up wounded. Why not each of us take a step back? After all, we’re all here to make money. If we can cooperate, that would of course be best. But if cooperation isn’t possible, then let’s not get angry. Maybe there’ll be another chance next time.”
Hearing Shen Donghua speak so nicely, Yu Fanwei laughed smugly. “Chen, did you see that? Your man knows how to behave far better than you do. Fine—since you’re talking about cooperation, let’s do it this way. For the Northern Suburb New City project, I want seventy percent of the shares. Your Hualing Company gets only thirty percent. Think it over.”
At those words, Shen Donghua quickly put on a troubled expression. “Young Master Yu, I’m afraid that wouldn’t be appropriate. The project over there in Northern Suburb New City is almost about to begin construction. It wouldn’t be easy to change the share arrangement now, would it?”
“You damn brat, just a moment ago you were praising your own ability to talk. Fine. Since that’s the case, kneel down and say a few good words to me. Maybe I’ll be generous and let this slide.”
Yu Fanwei sat back down on the sofa, pulled a cigarette from his pocket, put it in his mouth, and wore a very pleased smile.
Shen Donghua frowned, his expression conflicted.
Yu Fanwei lit the cigarette and raised an eyebrow. “Kneel? What, you don’t want to kneel? Then your Northern Suburb New City project can just...”
Before Yu Fanwei could finish, no one expected Chen Yang to suddenly rush up in front of him and drive a knee into his chest, making Yu Fanwei cough up blood with a sickening spurt.
Then Chen Yang seized his collar again and stared straight into his eyes. “Kneel down. Call me Brother Chen.”
