Chapter Eighty-Six: Chen Yang's abilities are simply astonishing
Qin Muxue felt utterly helpless about the so-called wager between Chen Yang and Su Xiaoling. She reproached Chen Yang, saying, “If you’re capable, then help her. If not, don’t force yourself. Why make a bet with Xiaoling?”
Chen Yang chuckled and replied, “Isn’t it more interesting this way? You’d love to hear Xiaoling call me brother-in-law, wouldn’t you? And, if she does, it will have to be for a whole month.”
Qin Muxue shook her head, exasperated. “Then you’d better find students for Xiaoling first.”
“No problem. I’ll definitely find students. But, Muxue, I need you to be a witness for this,” Chen Yang said with a grin.
“Alright, alright. If you can bring students for Xiaoling, I’ll do whatever you ask,” Qin Muxue replied, still resigned.
Chen Yang smiled, then looked at Su Xiaoling and said, “Su Xiaoling, don’t back out later.”
Su Xiaoling raised her delicate eyebrows. “Oh, stop boasting. Just find the students first.”
“Fine, don’t try to provoke me. Honestly, I’m looking forward to hearing you call me brother-in-law,” Chen Yang laughed.
Su Xiaoling rolled her eyes. “All you do is talk big.”
Chen Yang chuckled and didn’t continue bantering with Su Xiaoling; there was no point in dragging it out.
He went upstairs, entered his bedroom, closed the door, and called Shen Donghua.
On the phone, Chen Yang asked Shen Donghua to help him find students interested in learning piano.
Shen Donghua was rather helpless at this request, not expecting Chen Yang to ask such a thing of him.
But for Shen Donghua, it wasn’t particularly difficult, since his wife was the vice principal of a secondary school in Linhai.
If he handed this matter to his wife, it shouldn’t be hard.
A day passed in the blink of an eye.
The next evening, just before the end of the workday, Shen Donghua walked into Chen Yang’s office and said, “President Chen, the task you assigned me last night has been completed.”
“Completed? So quickly?” Chen Yang was surprised. He hadn’t expected Shen Donghua to resolve the issue so fast. After all, finding students—especially piano students—wasn’t an easy task.
Shen Donghua replied helplessly, “It just so happens my wife is the vice principal of a school, and I asked her for help.”
“Really?” Chen Yang looked a bit embarrassed.
Yes, Shen Donghua’s wife was indeed a vice principal, and he’d completely forgotten about it.
It seemed he’d found the right person to help this time.
Chen Yang chuckled, “So, can you gather all thirty children at the gate of Huading Company now? When I finish work, I’ll take them to my little cousin’s piano training center to register and pay.”
Shen Donghua considered it. “That shouldn’t be a problem, but there will probably be some expenses involved.”
“Expenses aren’t an issue. Just bill it to the company. How much could it possibly cost?” Chen Yang said breezily.
After all, he was a billionaire now; why would he care about a little money?
Shen Donghua felt reassured and nodded repeatedly. “Alright, I’ll go arrange it now.”
“Go ahead,” Chen Yang said, smiling.
At six-thirty in the evening, Su Xiaoling’s piano training classroom was deserted, with no one coming to register. Only Su Xiaoling and Qin Muxue were inside.
Qin Muxue looked at the empty classroom and the quiet street outside, feeling uneasy.
But she thought to herself that Xiaoling’s piano school had only just opened. In time, it would surely thrive.
Su Xiaoling’s expression was grim; she’d spent the entire day in the classroom without a single registration.
She had handed out plenty of flyers.
As darkness fell outside, Su Xiaoling stood up from her executive chair with a sigh. “Muxue, let’s go. Tonight I’ll treat you to dinner.”
Qin Muxue frowned. “Xiaoling, why bother eating out? Come home, let’s eat there.”
Su Xiaoling’s face darkened. “Muxue, what do you mean? Are you looking down on me? Just because no one registered, you think I have no money?”
Qin Muxue was flustered. “Xiaoling, how could you think that? I never meant it that way.”
Su Xiaoling immediately broke into a smile. “Alright, Muxue, I was just teasing you.”
Qin Muxue rolled her eyes. “You’d better stop with those jokes.”
Su Xiaoling walked up to Qin Muxue, took her arm, and said softly, “Really, Muxue, I want to treat you tonight to thank you for all the help you’ve given me these days. I have no other motives.”
Qin Muxue, still worried about Su Xiaoling’s finances, patted her on the back of the head. “I appreciate your gesture, but let’s skip the meal. Wait until your students fill up, then treat me—it won’t be too late.”
Su Xiaoling smiled wryly, utterly resigned.
Then Qin Muxue patted Su Xiaoling’s hand to comfort her. “Xiaoling, you’re starting your own business now. Entrepreneurship can’t be rushed. Take it slow, don’t worry.”
“Alright, I get it, Muxue,” Su Xiaoling said, sticking out her tongue.
She was about to lock up the classroom and leave when, just as the two women reached the entrance, a white bus slowly came to a halt in the plaza outside.
Qin Muxue and Su Xiaoling both looked at the bus, surprise flickering in their eyes.
After the bus stopped, Su Xiaoling couldn’t help but ask, “Muxue, what’s going on?”
Qin Muxue squinted, puzzled, but didn’t answer.
Then the bus door opened and Chen Yang, leading a group of children and parents, stepped off.
After everyone had exited, Chen Yang walked up to Su Xiaoling with a smile. “What’s this? Closing up already?”
Su Xiaoling frowned, glancing at the children and parents, then at Chen Yang. “Chen Yang, what are you up to?”
Chen Yang smiled helplessly. “What do you mean? I brought you students—thirty-one in total. One extra, hope you don’t mind.”
“Students? They’re all here to learn piano from me?” Su Xiaoling’s eyes widened.
Chen Yang glanced at Qin Muxue and smiled. “Muxue, look at her—she doesn’t believe me.”
Joy lit up Qin Muxue’s eyes.
She could see that Chen Yang wasn’t deceiving Su Xiaoling; those really were students he’d found.
Qin Muxue nudged Su Xiaoling’s arm, smiling. “Xiaoling, aren’t you going to welcome your future students?”
Su Xiaoling’s face brimmed with delight. Just moments ago, her classroom was empty, and now thirty-one students had arrived.
She was truly, genuinely happy.
Su Xiaoling hurried over. “Hello, are you all here to register?”
“Yes, we’re here to check it out.”
“We heard good things, so we brought the kids to see,” the parents answered.
Su Xiaoling was overjoyed. “Oh, please, come in, come in, don’t be shy.”
The parents led their children toward the classroom.
Su Xiaoling opened the door, her body trembling with excitement.
She introduced and praised her training center to the parents and children with enthusiasm.
Chen Yang and Qin Muxue remained at the doorway; after all, they wouldn’t be much help inside.
Qin Muxue glanced at the lively scene inside, then turned to Chen Yang, curiosity and excitement in her eyes. “What happened?”
Chen Yang chuckled. “A friend of mine’s partner happens to be the vice principal at Qingya Middle School, so I asked for their help.”
“What friend? I don’t know them,” Qin Muxue asked.
Chen Yang laughed. “Just some old acquaintances. I’ll introduce you when there’s time.”
Qin Muxue thought it over, nodded, and said nothing more.
But Chen Yang knew that even though he’d promised to introduce his friend to Qin Muxue, she probably wouldn’t be interested. He understood Qin Muxue; unless it was for work, she had little interest in meeting new people.
After more than an hour, all thirty-one children had registered. Su Xiaoling escorted the students and parents back to the bus. Only after the bus drove off did she return.
As soon as she reached Chen Yang’s side, she saw his bright smile and immediately understood.
Su Xiaoling sighed, “I’ll start calling you brother-in-law tomorrow, alright?”
