Chapter Ninety-One: The Qin Family Is in for Trouble
“Do you mean to tell me you have been treating my words as nothing but a breeze at your ear?” Chen Yang suddenly barked, a fierce wave of anger surging through him.
Yu Chengyi frowned and said nothing.
Chen Yang went on, “Speak. Have you gone mute?”
“I’ll do exactly what you told me to do right away,” Yu Chengyi said in a low voice, his expression as bitter and stifled as it could possibly be.
Chen Yang snapped again, louder still, “Then why didn’t you do it when I told you to yesterday?”
Yu Chengyi did not dare answer.
He knew that one wrong word would only make Chen Yang even angrier.
After five seconds of silence, and seeing that Chen Yang still had nothing to say, he had no choice but to speak up. “What happened yesterday... I’m sorry.”
Chen Yang said sternly, “Yu Family, do you really think that everything I, Chen Yang, say is just empty talk?”
“Given how much time you wasted yesterday, you now have only one hour to handle what I assigned you.”
“If it isn’t settled within an hour, those things will be spread across the internet very quickly, and the relevant authorities will receive a copy as well.”
“All right, I’ll handle it at once,” Yu Chengyi hurriedly said.
After all, he knew full well what the consequences would be if the materials in Chen Yang’s hands were sent to the authorities.
Those consequences were more than he could bear. More than he could ever afford to bear.
“An hour from now, I’ll be waiting to see the result,” Chen Yang said, then hung up.
An hour later, the Yu Family had indeed completed everything Chen Yang had demanded yesterday.
First, the North Suburb New City project resumed operations.
Second, the company heads who had previously rushed to demand termination of cooperation with Huading Company all called back in turn, once again taking the initiative to seek collaboration.
Naturally, Chen Yang rejected every one of them.
Third, the Yu Family gave up on the North Suburb land and, from that day on, withdrew from Linhai and returned to the provincial capital, keeping their distance from Chen Yang and avoiding one another like water and oil.
Of course, the Yu Family had conditions of their own.
They wanted Chen Yang to destroy all the evidence.
Chen Yang paid them no mind at all, because the evidence was in his hands; he could destroy it whenever he pleased, and if he chose not to, no one could force him.
In any case, within that one hour, the Yu Family did everything he had demanded.
Shen Donghua even made a special trip to Chen Yang’s office, smiling broadly as he said, “President Chen, it looks like the Yu Family is really scared. They’re quite obedient.”
Chen Yang gave a cold laugh. “If you were holding evidence that they had evaded over a billion in taxes, they’d be scared of you too.”
Shen Donghua’s brows drew together. A man with a strong sense of justice, he too found the Yu Family’s criminal behavior deeply repugnant.
So he asked Chen Yang seriously, “President Chen, what do you plan to do about the evidence?”
Chen Yang curled the corner of his mouth. “I have my own plans. No need for you to worry about it.”
“All right.” Shen Donghua nodded.
“Oh, right, there’s one more thing,” Chen Yang said suddenly.
At that, Shen Donghua looked at him with curiosity, eager to know what had suddenly come to mind.
Chen Yang said with a cold smile, “As for the Qin Family, what do you think I should do with them?”
“The Qin Family?”
Shen Donghua’s expression changed slightly.
Only then did he realize what Chen Yang had suddenly remembered.
No matter how one looked at it, the Qin Family was closely tied to Chen Yang.
It was not easy for Shen Donghua to say how the Qin Family should be dealt with.
After a moment’s thought, he looked at Chen Yang and said earnestly, “President Chen, I’m not really in a position to say.”
“What’s so hard to say? Don’t overthink it. Put everything else aside and focus only on the fact that the Qin Family currying favor with the Yu Family and trying to deal with the company—how do you think they should be punished?” Chen Yang pressed.
Shen Donghua gave a helpless smile, then said, “If we are speaking only about that matter, then the Qin Family must be punished.”
“How?”
“Punishment can be light or heavy. It depends on whether President Chen wants it lighter or heavier.”
“How light is light, and how heavy is heavy?” Chen Yang asked with a smile.
Shen Donghua said solemnly, “If light, then a visit to Qin Tianrong’s door and a good scolding will do. If heavy, then we can drive the Qin Family into bankruptcy so they’ll never have the ability to do anything wicked again.”
“Heh, that’s exactly what I was thinking,” Chen Yang said, breaking into a grin at once.
That answer startled Shen Donghua.
Could Chen Yang truly be planning to bankrupt the Qin Family?
Surely not...
No matter how one looked at it, the Qin Family had a close relationship with Chen Yang.
And yet Chen Yang wanted them bankrupt?
Shen Donghua said helplessly, “President Chen, you had already made up your mind, didn’t you?”
“Yes, I decided long ago. It was just that you happened to be here, so I wanted to hear your opinion,” Chen Yang said with a faint smile.
Shen Donghua immediately said, “If you’ve already thought it through carefully, then do it that way.”
“Good.”
Chen Yang answered without the slightest hesitation, not the least bit reluctant.
Shen Donghua was also thinking to himself that the Qin Family was in for trouble. They had angered President Chen, and there would be no good ending for them.
That evening, Chen Yang returned home in a fairly good mood.
The main reason was that he had dealt with the Yu Family with ease, and had also taken in two hackers for his team. Naturally, he was in high spirits.
As soon as Chen Yang entered, he saw Qin Muxue and Su Xiaoling sitting very close together on the sofa, watching television.
The moment he saw Su Xiaoling, Chen Yang could not help smiling. “Xiaoling, what are you watching?”
Su Xiaoling glanced at Chen Yang, then turned her eyes back to the television. “Can’t you see? A sketch comedy.”
“Oh, all right then.” Seeing that Su Xiaoling did not want to joke around with him, Chen Yang did not tease her.
He then remembered that he still had something to discuss with Qin Muxue.
So he smiled and looked at Qin Muxue. “Muxue, come here. Come upstairs with me. I have something to talk to you about.”
Qin Muxue’s gaze immediately left the television and fell on Chen Yang. “What is it?”
“Come upstairs with me. I’ll tell you in person,” Chen Yang said.
Qin Muxue smiled helplessly. “What on earth is it? So mysterious.”
“It’s something very important, of course,” Chen Yang said.
Qin Muxue rose from the sofa and, no longer thinking too much about it, walked up to Chen Yang with a faint smile. “Then let’s go.”
“Let’s go,” Chen Yang said with a smile.
Chen Yang went upstairs with Qin Muxue.
All the while, Su Xiaoling kept watching them with curious eyes.
Chen Yang’s mysterious behavior naturally made her especially curious as well.
Chen Yang and Qin Muxue entered the bedroom together. Qin Muxue turned at once and asked, “What is it? Hurry up and say it.”
Chen Yang smiled faintly. “I want to ask you this: if the Qin Group were to go bankrupt tomorrow, what would you think?”
On the way home, Chen Yang had already made up his mind.
If he was going to bankrupt the Qin Family, Qin Muxue, after all, had grown up with that family.
He very much wanted to hear her thoughts in advance.
However, the moment Qin Muxue heard this, she was stunned. “What do you mean?”
Chen Yang blinked and smiled. “I’m asking you, if the Qin Group were to go bankrupt the next day, what would you think?”
Qin Muxue still looked utterly baffled.
Blinking, she gave a bitter smile. “Why are you being so strange today?”
“What’s strange about that? Just answer me,” Chen Yang said, a little impatient now.
Qin Muxue said, “What other thoughts could I possibly have? I’d definitely be upset.”
“Upset? Why?” Chen Yang asked, curious.
Qin Muxue said, “I’m part of the family too. If I watched the only company that supports the family go bankrupt, of course I’d feel awful.”
“Oh, so that’s what you think?”
“Yes.”
Qin Muxue nodded with complete seriousness.
“All right, I understand. Don’t overthink it. I was just asking casually. I also heard that the Qin Group has been having a rough time lately, so I wanted to ask what you’d think if the worst were to happen to it. That’s all. Don’t read too much into it,” Chen Yang said with a chuckle.
In truth, the reason he asked was to deal with the Qin Family.
But of course, he would never tell Qin Muxue his true purpose.
Qin Muxue looked at him strangely. “Anyway, you just feel weird today.”
“What’s weird about me? Come on, let’s go downstairs and watch television,” Chen Yang said, taking her by the wrist.
Qin Muxue looked at him deeply.
Even as he took her wrist, she did not resist.
Chen Yang was in a good mood.
At the same time, in the Qin Family residence, in Qin Tianrong’s home...
Qin Guofu looked distressed as he reported, “Dad, it’s likely we won’t be able to take part in the North Suburb New City project.”
