Chapter Ninety-Nine: The Mother-in-Law's Three Mistakes
Thinking of this, Qin Muxue couldn't help but steal a glance at Chen Yang, her eyes filled with a complex mix of emotions.
She then started the engine and drove toward the Imperial View estate.
On the way to the estate, the car was dead silent.
Su Xiaoling and Han Qin stared out their windows at the passing scenery, while Chen Yang rested his eyes with a confident smile playing on his lips.
Half an hour later, Qin Muxue pulled into the Imperial View estate and finally came to a stop in front of Heaven Rank Villa No. 1.
Feeling the car stop, Chen Yang opened his eyes. Seeing they had arrived, he turned to Han Qin and Su Xiaoling with a smile. "Mom, Xiaoling, let's get out."
"I don't need you to tell me, I know," Han Qin said coldly. In truth, she was incredibly nervous, and her icy expression was merely a facade to mask her inner anxiety.
Chen Yang smiled faintly and paid it no mind.
They all got out of the car. As they crossed the arched wooden bridge leading to the villa's entrance, Su Xiaoling looked at him with deep suspicion. "Chen... no, Brother-in-law, is this for real? You actually bought such a magnificent villa?"
"You're already here, so why still doubt it? If I hadn't bought it, why would I bring you here? Just for fun?" Chen Yang replied, smiling.
"Well, yes, but where did you get the money to buy a villa? It must have cost a fortune," Su Xiaoling said, admiring the surrounding scenery while maintaining her skepticism.
Chen Yang let out a dismissive laugh upon hearing this.
He couldn't be bothered to answer her. It was utterly tedious.
No matter how much they doubted, the names on the property deed were his and Qin Muxue's. That was all that mattered.
A deed stamped with the official red seal, bearing his and Qin Muxue's names—wasn't that proof enough? It was more than enough.
Chen Yang continued leading the three women toward the villa entrance.
But after only three steps, Su Xiaoling spoke up from behind, sounding annoyed. "Brother-in-law, I asked you a question just now. You haven't answered me."
Chen Yang stopped and turned around, looking at Su Xiaoling with an exasperated expression.
He had already let her previous questioning slide, but it seemed she wasn't ready to drop it.
Chen Yang said, "You mean where I got the money for the villa?"
"Yes," Su Xiaoling said, looking at him intently.
Chen Yang grinned. "I won the lottery."
"You won the lottery?" Su Xiaoling's eyes widened in utter disbelief.
"Yeah," Chen Yang nodded with a serious face.
The main reason he lied about winning the lottery was because he knew his mother-in-law, Su Xiaoling, and even Qin Muxue were dying of curiosity about where his money came from.
If he tried to explain that it was his personal savings, these three women would bombard him with a barrage of follow-up questions.
It was much simpler to just say he won the lottery and put the matter to rest, saving himself from their endless prying.
"What kind of lottery ticket did you buy?" Su Xiaoling asked curiously.
"Why do you ask so many questions? You're always the most inquisitive one," Chen Yang said with a trace of impatience, clearly annoyed by her probing.
Su Xiaoling rolled her eyes but stopped talking.
Chen Yang unlocked and opened the villa door, stepping aside to let the three women enter first.
The moment Su Xiaoling and Han Qin stepped into the luxuriously decorated living room, they were instantly stunned. Even Qin Muxue stood frozen in astonishment, her face written with disbelief.
Su Xiaoling first tried out the leather sofa, then picked up the remote control from the coffee table and turned on the 65-inch LCD television.
After basking in the pleasure of sitting on a high-end sofa and watching a large-screen TV, Su Xiaoling couldn't help but look at Qin Muxue. "Sister Muxue, you're going to live here from now on."
Qin Muxue replied nervously, "I don't know."
"There's no doubt about it. Brother-in-law bought this villa specifically for you. I'm so envious, Sister Muxue," Su Xiaoling said wistfully, looking up at the cascading crystal chandelier.
Qin Muxue's face was also filled with joy, but deep down, she felt deeply self-conscious.
She felt she didn't deserve such a grand house, nor was she worthy of living in such a luxurious place.
Meanwhile, Han Qin was wandering around, looking at everything with immense delight.
Her thoughts were far less complicated than Qin Muxue's; the mere thought of living in such a beautiful house made her incredibly happy.
Seeing his mother-in-law's joyful expression, Chen Yang teased her on purpose, "Mom, I guess I'm not homeless after all, am I?"
Han Qin's smile vanished instantly, and she shot him a strange look. "Who said you were homeless?"
"Dad's attitude at dinner tonight... honestly, I felt quite wronged," Chen Yang said seriously.
Han Qin immediately defended her husband. "You have to understand your father. He still has very deep feelings for the Qin Group."
"But that doesn't give him the right to falsely accuse me," Chen Yang grumbled.
Han Qin pursed her lips. "Take that up with your father when you get back. I don't want to get involved."
"Fine, fine." Chen Yang nodded and smiled, not wanting to argue with her further. Having this villa gave him all the confidence he needed.
After that, Han Qin and Su Xiaoling stopped talking and continued touring the villa, going upstairs and downstairs. Once they finished, Qin Muxue, feeling a bit out of place in the grand house, turned to Han Qin. "Mom, are you done looking around?"
"Yes, the house is wonderful. It would be great to move in here in the future," Han Qin praised.
Anyone could hear the underlying meaning in Han Qin's words; she was practically itching to move in.
Chen Yang smiled with quiet disdain.
But Qin Muxue spoke up sharply, "Mom, move in? Is this even your house?"
"Didn't Chen Yang buy it for you?" Han Qin countered.
Qin Muxue remained firm. "This is Chen Yang's house."
"Isn't Chen Yang's house as good as your house?" Han Qin said anxiously. She thought to herself, *Silly girl, if Chen Yang wants to give you the house, just accept it. Why say all this?*
Qin Muxue was speechless.
She realized her mother was completely blinded by greed. As for herself, she felt she had no right to live here.
But if her mother insisted on moving in, throwing all dignity aside, there was nothing she could do to stop her.
"Enough, Mom. Think about how you and Dad treated Chen Yang before. How can you have the face to move in here?" Qin Muxue said, her voice rising, deeply disappointed in her mother.
Han Qin looked at Qin Muxue with disappointment of her own. Then, she suddenly turned to Chen Yang and asked, "Chen Yang, if your father and I want to move in with you in the future, would that be alright?"
"No," Chen Yang said immediately.
Chen Yang's blunt refusal caught both Han Qin and Qin Muxue off guard.
His words were incredibly direct.
Han Qin's brow furrowed, and she flew into a rage. "Fine! Fine! You said it. Remember that!"
"Yes, I did," Chen Yang replied with a relaxed smile.
Han Qin's face turned icy. She grabbed Qin Muxue's wrist and said angrily, "Muxue, let's go. We are never coming back to this awful place again."
"Mom, will you stop making a scene?"
Qin Muxue suddenly shook off Han Qin's hand, her face flushed with anger.
As the saying goes, the onlookers see most of the game. Standing to the side, she had seen everything clearly. From start to finish, her mother had been the one causing trouble—and of course, her father was just as guilty.
During dinner, it was her father who had tried to kick Chen Yang out.
So what if Chen Yang refused them now? He was entirely justified.
Stunned by Qin Muxue's scolding, Han Qin stared at her daughter in disbelief.
Confronted with Han Qin's disappointed expression, Qin Muxue stood her ground righteously. "Mom, think about it. From dinner tonight until now, haven't you and Dad been the ones acting up?"
"Acting up? How was I acting up? Make yourself clear! What did I do?" Han Qin demanded, refusing to back down.
Qin Muxue's disappointment deepened.
She glared at Han Qin in frustration, then turned to Chen Yang. "Chen Yang, let's leave."
But Han Qin stamped her feet, throwing a tantrum. "Explain yourself! You're not leaving until you explain!"
Qin Muxue looked at her mother with even greater disappointment.
At that moment, Chen Yang walked over to Han Qin unhurriedly. He was determined to have this out with her. So, even in the face of her furious glare, he remained perfectly calm. "Muxue is right, Mom. A mistake is a mistake, and you need to admit when you're wrong."
"What did I do wrong? Spell it out!" Han Qin glared, her eyes wide.
Chen Yang said calmly, "Your first mistake was disrupting family harmony for the sake of outsiders. Your second mistake was being too harsh on your own family, even trying to kick me out of the house. Your third mistake was abusing your seniority, refusing to listen to the younger generation, completely oblivious to the fact that onlookers can see who is in the right."
"Su Xiaoling."
Having laid it out for Han Qin, Chen Yang suddenly turned to Su Xiaoling and called out, "You're an objective bystander. You judge—who is in the right and who is in the wrong?"
