Chapter 153: Like Hell
He saw a figure lifted by a radiant holy light.
Philip could hardly believe his eyes. How could those beams of holy light levitate him?
The intense holy light intertwined beneath Lin Lei like a lake, pouring into his body. He was like a black hole, rapidly absorbing the holy light from the other paladins, and the wounds on his body healed visibly before their eyes.
“No more accidents can be allowed!”
A bad premonition surged within Philip. Without hesitation, several blades of energy shot forth from his sword.
Ding—
In an instant, the energy blades bypassed the paladins, who looked bewildered as the holy light faded, and struck Lin Lei—only to be blocked by a dagger.
“Impossible!”
Philip’s heart jolted.
“Song of the Azure Sky!”
The royal mages turned their gaze. The elemental power was supposed to be unstoppable; Philip’s sword energy shouldn’t have vanished. Yet the Song of the Azure Sky, the mother of planetary power, hovered around Lin Lei, absorbing Philip’s elemental energy.
Moreover, the Song of the Azure Sky itself had transformed, now enveloped by the phantom image of a sword.
Staring at that sword-shaped silhouette, Philip was speechless for a long moment. Suddenly, a legend came to mind—a legend of a sword.
In his slumber, Lin Lei felt the holy light within him flicker and fade bit by bit. Yet at this moment, it seemed to reignite anew.
The holy light was calling him.
The holy light was healing him.
Gradually regaining consciousness from his daze, Lin Lei saw the sword—
A divine blade forged from planetary crystals, crafted with the faith of elves as its core. The blade was elegantly slender, its transparent edge wrapped in a faint golden glow; it was the most powerful weapon in the world.
A faceless elf held the divine sword, placing it gently into Lin Lei’s hand.
“…”
With wise and profound eyes, the elf looked at Lin Lei and spoke a single sentence.
“Hmm.”
Lin Lei understood—this was the secret of the Song of the Azure Sky.
A secret known only to that ancestor, hidden within the sword for five centuries before being entrusted to him.
Like awakening from a deep sleep, the longsword glowed brightly in Lin Lei’s grasp—
Would its wish be fulfilled?
“It will.”
Lin Lei gripped the sword tightly, his willpower returning to his body.
The young elf floating in the holy light opened his eyes, burning with an undying resolve.
“Your Highness, the young prince!”
Eve and the royal mages looked on with delight.
Lin Lei touched down on the ground, wielding the ethereal longsword, golden wings unfurled behind him.
“You’ve grown stronger,” Philip said gravely, then sighed slightly, “But you still cannot defeat me.”
“Yes,” Lin Lei met his gaze. “Strength cannot be gained overnight, but battle is not won by strength alone.”
The swirling golden holy light lent his eyes a mysterious and majestic aura.
Philip despised that look deep in his heart—so confident despite lacking the power to resist. Why show such certainty?
“Song of the Azure Sky!”
Suddenly, Lin Lei raised his hand, the longsword’s tip whistling as it soared toward the dome.
The next moment, the entire stone wall was engulfed by golden clouds. Everyone looked up—and realized it was no cloud, but countless golden sword rays, dense as raindrops.
“Crimson Lotus Sword!”
Philip fired a sword strike to stop Lin Lei.
Lin Lei neither blocked nor dodged.
“Ten Thousand Blades Unleashed!”
He swept his hand downward; instantly, beams of light pierced through the clouds, blanketing the entire Goblin City in falling golden light.
“Pfft!”
Lin Lei spat blood, Philip’s sword ray leaving a massive wound in his chest.
Yet with a gentle flap of his wings, the wound vanished instantly.
“Divine Protector!”
The paladins stared in shock. Lin Lei had turned their attack into his own defense.
The sword rays fell like raindrops, penetrating everyone’s bodies. Their number was overwhelming—no one could avoid them even with shields raised.
But the sword rays vanished once inside, and not a single werewolf fell.
“Isn’t this my Light Rain?”
Eve watched in amazement. The scale of the sword rays was immense, yet bore a striking resemblance to the spell she cast on the battlefield.
Alas, her Light Rain could kill, but Lin Lei’s Ten Thousand Blades unleashed had no effect—no harm came to the werewolves.
Philip blocked the sword rays with his fighting spirit.
He turned to his troops; none were injured. Yet Philip did not believe Lin Lei would act without a purpose.
“What have you done?”
He asked gravely.
Lin Lei’s gaze shifted to the battlefield’s side, where the cries of the fruit spirits rose in a chorus. They had been captured by the werewolves and were being carried toward the Dark Gate.
The fruit spirits were defenseless, clearly drained of all magic.
“Come here.”
Suddenly, Lin Lei reached out. The four fruit spirits carried by the werewolves vanished and reappeared behind him.
Everyone was stunned. Lin Lei waved his hand again, and the werewolves transporting the fruit spirits disappeared without a trace.
Eyes widened in disbelief.
“What sorcery is this?”
Some mages realized.
Philip followed swiftly: “This is teleportation!”
“No, it’s the Great Shift of Heaven and Earth!”
The royal mages lifted their chins. They could distinguish the subtle differences between teleportation and the Great Shift. Lin Lei was not using teleportation, but the Great Shift of Heaven and Earth—and on a group scale.
“How is he doing this?”
The mages stared intently at Lin Lei. Group teleportation by the Great Shift was unprecedented.
Though Lin Lei had teleported before with the leopard and Eve, they had to be physically linked. Now, Lin Lei sent the werewolves away without touching them.
“You…”
Philip’s face turned ashen. “That light is a teleportation rune!”
Lin Lei withdrew the Song of the Azure Sky descending from the heavens. “No, they are merely the medium through which I cast the spell.”
The warm holy light surrounding him sent a chilling sensation through Philip.
Lin Lei said, “Now, I can teleport all the werewolves.”
Philip’s expression darkened like still water. “You’d better be professional when bluffing. With your current strength, can you really teleport my entire army?”
“…No.”
Lin Lei looked at him, lips pressed lightly. “I cannot do that.”
Philip laughed loudly. Even if Lin Lei could, he was unafraid. As long as he was here, this war would be his victory. The werewolves could be teleported away and brought back again.
But in the next moment, his laughter died.
“I cannot teleport so many werewolves,” Lin Lei said, meeting his gaze. “But what do you think would happen if those werewolves were teleported incorrectly?”
Philip’s heart tightened suddenly. He realized they were deep underground.
He looked up to see blood slowly seeping from the stone walls.
In that instant, Goblin City became hell itself.
