Chapter 7: I Am Willing to Marry You
Martial Pet: Golden Wolf
Rank: Divine Beast
Level: 0
Attributes: Wind, Light
Description: Can summon the wolf clan, possesses both wind and light attributes, and can use skills from both elements.
"I... Damn! This is unbelievable! After eating a single Primal Spirit Fruit, it leapt straight from a ninth-rank demon beast to a divine beast—this is insane! No wonder all the demon beasts were fighting so desperately for it; so this is the true power of the fruit!" Cradling the golden wolf pup in his arms, Wu Tian was utterly stunned.
A divine beast! Once it matures, it will be a hundred times stronger than an ordinary demon beast. Throughout the entire Wild Martial Empire, there are only a handful of humans with a divine beast as their martial pet, but now Wu Tian was among them—this was nothing short of extraordinary.
"From now on, your name will be Little Gold. Stick with me, and I promise you’ll never want for anything. Together, we’ll conquer the world!" Wu Tian laughed heartily as he hugged Little Gold.
"Awwooo!" Little Gold waved her paw at Wu Tian, her head nuzzling joyfully against his hand.
“Huh?” Suddenly, Wu Tian glanced between Little Gold’s hind legs. “So, you’re a female.”
Little Gold gave another happy howl in response. After her evolution, she seemed to have forgotten her past. For now, she was like a newborn, knowing nothing but one thing: Wu Tian was her master.
“Well, you’re a divine beast now, but unfortunately your level is still zero. Time to help you level up.”
With that, Wu Tian led Little Gold into the Misty Forest to hunt demon beasts.
Ding!
“Congratulations, player Wu Tian, for instantly killing the third-rank demon beast, Gourd Toad. You have gained 10,000 experience points.”
“Congratulations, player Wu Tian’s martial pet, Golden Wolf, has gained 2,000 experience points and advanced to level 10.”
...
For three days and nights, Wu Tian tirelessly leveled up with Little Gold.
“Hah... This is really exhausting. Little Gold has reached level 15 and now possesses the strength of a third-rank demon beast, enough to rival a first-rank Martial Spirit. It’s a pity my own level is progressing so slowly. After killing so many demon beasts, I’m still just a tenth-rank Martial Warrior, with quite a ways to go to the next level. Still, with my current strength, I doubt there’s anyone among the younger generation in the Skyward Sect who could match me.”
Wu Tian had his reasons for working so hard. Partly, he was a gaming fanatic, but more importantly, he no longer wanted to be mocked or bullied—neither in his previous life nor in this one. In his past life, he was only good at playing games, often ridiculed by friends and relatives for his lack of ambition and drive, dismissed as a good-for-nothing spendthrift. Now, he wanted to prove with his own strength that even a gamer could reach the pinnacle. In this continent where martial might reigns supreme, Wu Tian refused to be anyone’s victim again.
...
Late at night.
Wu Tian and Little Gold lay resting inside a mountain cave, both weary from days of demon beast hunting. Even with his super instant-kill system, Wu Tian needed to rest.
Suddenly, Wu Tian, in his sleep, sensed movement around him. His heart tightened, and he opened his eyes instantly.
Swish!
A cold, razor-sharp sword pressed against Wu Tian’s throat, ready to slit it at any moment. Little Gold, lying by Wu Tian’s side, opened her eyes, glanced over, yawned, and promptly went back to sleep.
“Who’s there?” Wu Tian asked coldly.
“Don’t speak!” A chilly female voice echoed through the cave. The voice was pleasant, but carried a biting coldness.
“Fine, I won’t talk,” Wu Tian replied casually.
“I told you not to speak, yet you still talk? Courting death!” The woman tapped Wu Tian’s neck with her sword, her voice icier than before. Wu Tian could feel the sword trembling in her grip.
“Sister, the poison in our bodies is taking effect, and now we’re trapped. What should we do?” came another gentle, anxious female voice.
“The Empty Gate is searching the area. We’ve already fallen victim to their ‘Euphoric Powder.’ Our cultivation is reduced to just twenty percent of our peak. For now, our only option is to hide in this cave and hope they don’t find us.” The senior sister’s voice faltered, growing more desolate. “If the Empty Gate’s people catch us, we’ll be utterly humiliated. The only path left for us is to self-destruct our dantians. Not even suicide is an option!”
From the conversation, Wu Tian had already pieced together what had happened. The Empty Gate was a notorious demonic sect in the Wild Martial Empire, their members skilled in hidden weapons and poisons, often forcing women into prostitution, and practicing cultivation by absorbing feminine energy. They were universally despised. These two women had been unfortunate enough to cross their path.
As the sisters spoke, Wu Tian pressed his palms against the ground, pushing himself back a step, just beyond the woman’s sword range.
“I said, don’t move! Are you looking to die?” When the woman saw Wu Tian move, she followed with her sword, but before she could strike, Wu Tian caught the blade between two fingers.
“With only twenty percent of your power left, you still think you can kill me? You underestimate me.” Wu Tian pinched the sword between his fingers, his expression disdainful.
Both women were astonished. Even with their strength diminished, they weren’t ordinary people—yet this man had trapped the sword with just two fingers. His cultivation was clearly extraordinary.
“Please... please don’t hurt us. We didn’t mean to kill you. We’re just being hunted and need to stay silent so they won’t hear us,” the senior sister pleaded, her cold voice tinged with helplessness.
“You come in here and put a sword to my neck, then say it wasn’t intentional? Never mind, I don’t like arguing with women. Do as you please; I’m going back to sleep,” Wu Tian said, releasing the sword and waving them off before lying back down to rest.
“Um... Sir, we’ve been poisoned by Euphoric Powder and have only a fraction of our strength left. Please help us through this crisis. If you do, we’ll reward you handsomely,” the gentler woman implored. Unlike her senior sister, her tone was lively and sincere.
“What kind of reward?” Wu Tian asked indifferently.
“A fourth-rank demon core or a profound-grade weapon—I swear on my honor as a student of the Seven Stars Academy!” she promised confidently.
Wu Tian laughed. A fourth-rank demon core or even a profound-grade weapon was nothing to him now. Not to mention the ninth-rank demon core from the Black Dragon Python—his inventory was overflowing with cores from fourth and fifth-rank beasts. As for weapons, his miraculous Black Dragon Saber was leagues beyond whatever they could offer.
But the mention of Seven Stars Academy did pique his interest. According to his memories, it was a prestigious noble academy in the Wild Martial Empire, with immense resources and influence, recruiting talented students from across the nation—a gathering place for geniuses. Graduates of Seven Stars Academy were both powerful and respected. He hadn’t expected these two women to be students there.
“The rewards you offer are far too trivial for me. Try something else.”
“If you save me and my senior sister, I’m willing to marry you!”
