Chapter 146: Li Mengfei's Frustration
"Liu Ziqi, this young brother is here to apply to our team, and I was the one who received him first. Don't even think about stealing our team's new employee," Li Lin said as she stood up upon seeing Liu Ziqi's aggressive stance.
"Psh, what do you mean your team or our team? We're all in the same company and the same branch, why bother making such a clear distinction?" Liu Ziqi curled her lips and said.
"Young brother, what is your name?" Knowing Liu Ziqi's temperament and refusing to get dragged into her nonsense, Li Lin walked over to the young man and asked.
"Hello, my name is Li Mengfei," the young man said, puffing out his chest and speaking in a loud voice. "Also, please stop calling me young brother; I am already an adult."
"Hehe, he's quite interesting," Liu Ziqi teased, finding Li Mengfei still rather childish.
"Li Mengfei, come with me to the conference room to talk," Li Lin said.
Mengfei acknowledged with a grunt, then followed Li Lin into the Zhongtong branch, looking around curiously at the facilities inside.
"Did you bring a resume?" Li Lin asked after bringing Li Mengfei into the conference room.
"No," Li Mengfei said, spreading his hands with a blank look on his face upon hearing Li Lin's question. This was his first time going out to look for a job; how could he have thought to prepare a resume?
"Uh... do you have any work experience?" Li Lin probed.
"None," Li Mengfei sheepishly smiled and said.
"Ha, wait here for a moment, I'll go get you a resume form," Li Lin said with a hint of helplessness.
Li Lin no longer had any interest in interviewing Li Mengfei. Not only did the other party lack experience in second-hand real estate, but he didn't even have any other work experience. He could be considered a greenhorn who had just stepped out into society.
"Whatever, I'll just leave it for Zhang Wei to deal with the headache!" Li Lin sighed inwardly. Training someone without any work experience into a qualified real estate agent was definitely no easy task.
Li Lin found a resume form on Wenfang's desk, grabbed a black carbon pen from the pen holder, and returned to the conference room. She placed the resume and the pen on the table and said, "Fill out the resume form first."
"Big Sister, what should I call you?" Although Li Mengfei lacked work experience, it didn't mean he was truly stupid. He still knew how to say things to curry favor.
"My name is Li Lin. You can call me Sister Li or Sister Lin, either is fine," Li Lin smiled and said.
"Sister Lin, are you the store manager of this branch?" Li Mengfei asked curiously.
"I'm just an ordinary sales associate. The store manager is out taking clients around, and he should be back soon," Li Lin said, nodding at Li Mengfei before walking out of the conference room.
"Sigh..." Looking at the resume on the table, Li Mengfei felt a massive headache coming on. A large part of the reason he didn't want to go to university was precisely because he didn't want to write or study. Staring at this densely packed resume form, he couldn't help but let out a sigh.
"Hey... handsome, you're so young, why are you sighing?" Liu Ziqi patted Li Mengfei on the shoulder, popping her head out from behind him with a smile.
"Um, is there something you need?" Li Mengfei said with an unhappy expression.
Liu Ziqi's sudden appearance had startled Li Mengfei. Furthermore, he wasn't someone with a mild temper; if it weren't for the fact that Liu Ziqi was a woman and he was new in town, he probably would have lost his temper.
"This handsome guy's skin is even fairer and more tender than mine. I'm so jealous I could die, Big Sis here thinks," Liu Ziqi stood by Li Mengfei's side, staring intently at his face.
"It's not that my skin is good; it's just that your skin is too dark and rough," Li Mengfei glared at Liu Ziqi and said.
Li Mengfei was naturally a handsome young man, and many people said he looked somewhat feminine. His fair, tender, and clean skin only added a touch of fragility to his appearance, which was why he always hated it when people praised his fair skin. He felt it detracted from his image as a "real man"!
"Oh? Our little handsome guy has quite a fiery temper. Sister just gave you a compliment and you're already mad, and you even dare to say Sister's skin isn't good," Liu Ziqi said.
"Tell Sister, how old are you? Do you have a girlfriend?" Liu Ziqi sat down beside Li Mengfei, showing no intention of leaving.
"None of your business," Li Mengfei gave Liu Ziqi a sidelong glance and said dismissively.
"Interesting." Liu Ziqi treated Li Mengfei like a child. The angrier he got from her teasing, the happier she became. She smiled and asked, "Do you think Sister is pretty?"
Hearing Liu Ziqi's words, Li Mengfei put down the carbon pen in his hand, turned his head, and scrutinized Liu Ziqi's face closely. Then he nodded, a trace of a smile on his face, and said earnestly, "Not pretty."
"Little Li, are you intentionally trying to get back at Sister?" Seeing Li Mengfei nod at her, Liu Ziqi had expected him to offer a couple of compliments, but instead, she received those three words. Her expression immediately fell as she said, "You're the Little Li!"
"I'm telling the truth; you aren't considered pretty to begin with," Li Mengfei retorted tit for tat.
"Whatever, Sister is magnanimous and won't bicker with a child." Liu Ziqi curled her lips, pointed at Su Ning sitting in the back row, and said, "Do you see that pretty big sister sitting in the back row? She is our team leader. If you are willing to join our team, I can have her come over and interview you."
"No need. I definitely don't want to be in your team!" Li Mengfei snorted coldly.
"Oh, you really are mad," Liu Ziqi laughed charmingly.
"I'm not mad. Get out, I need to write my resume," Li Mengfei said, keeping his head down without even looking at Liu Ziqi.
"Hmph, you actually dare to ignore me. Too hateful." Liu Ziqi furrowed her brows, rolled her eyes, and a plan came to her mind. She asked, "You want Sister to leave? Fine, but you must answer a question for Sister, and you must tell the truth."
"Speak," Li Mengfei replied indifferently, thinking to himself: No matter what she asks, I'll just give her an answer to chase her away so she stops nagging in my ear.
"Are you still a virgin?" Liu Ziqi blinked her eyes and asked with a mischievous smile.
"Pfft... You..." Hearing Liu Ziqi's question, Li Mengfei choked on his breath. His face turned bright red in an instant, and he glared at Liu Ziqi, unable to speak.
"Hahaha, looking at your reaction, you're probably still a little virgin. I'm dying of laughter," seeing Li Mengfei's awkward and embarrassed state, Liu Ziqi slapped the table and laughed so hard she rocked back and forth.
"You're a horrible woman, an absolute hooligan!" Li Mengfei could no longer suppress the anger in his heart and struck back.
Just as Li Mengfei and Liu Ziqi were going back and forth, Guo Bin's voice suddenly rang out from outside the conference room: "Brother Wei, you're back? How did the client tour go?"
"Ah, Zhang Wei is back. I need to leave quickly," hearing this voice, Liu Ziqi paused, then waved at Li Mengfei with a smile, "Handsome, from now on we'll be colleagues, and Sister will definitely look out for you."
"Hmph, I don't care about you looking out for me," Li Mengfei huffed coldly.
"This kid is really interesting. I'll tease him to pass the time when I'm bored in the future," Liu Ziqi laughed as she walked out of the conference room, leaving behind an extremely frustrated Li Mengfei.
"Damn it, I get bullied the very first day on the job. Just you wait until I become a high-ranking executive in the company, I'll show you how I'll deal with you!" Li Mengfei said in a fit of humiliation and anger.
Although Li Mengfei had never worked an office job before, information was so accessible nowadays that even if he hadn't eaten pork, he had seen pigs run. He had heard that whether in the military or the corporate world, there was a tradition of bullying newcomers, but he never expected to be bullied by a woman.
Outside the conference room, Zhang Wei walked into the Zhongtong branch, heard Guo Bin's words, and replied, "It went pretty well. I'll continue taking the client to look at villas this afternoon."
"Brother Wei, who found the client looking to buy a house? You couldn't have just stumbled upon such a big client looking for a villa again, could you?" Guo Bin asked with an envious expression.
"This villa-buying client actually wasn't found by me. It was a chance encounter by our new colleague, Liu Cheng. I'll be talking about this during the meeting tonight!" Zhang Wei said meaningfully.
"Liu Cheng got a villa client on his very first day? Seriously?!"
"Yeah, Liu Cheng's luck is too good! He can land such a huge client right as he enters the company."
"With Zhang Wei helping Liu Cheng close the deal, I bet this transaction has a high chance of success. That's a commission of over a million!"
Hearing that Liu Cheng was the one who secured the client, everyone felt a mixture of envy and astonishment, and they began whispering among themselves. Meanwhile, Liu Cheng stood behind Zhang Wei, rubbing the back of his head, looking somewhat embarrassed.
"Alright, every time someone else gets a client, you all just talk about luck. This kind of thing is inseparable from one's own effort and diligence. During the meeting, I'll have Liu Cheng tell you how he managed to get this client, and why this client was secured by him instead of you veterans!" Zhang Wei said with a serious expression.
Upon hearing Zhang Wei's words, the employees from both teams quieted down. Through the past few days of interaction, Zhang Wei's authority as the store manager was growing steadily, and no one dared to openly talk back to him anymore, keeping their heads down in silence.
After giving them a brief lecture, Zhang Wei changed the subject, waved his hand at Li Lin and Guo Bin, and said, "Sister Lin, you and Guo Bin go grab lunch first. We'll watch the store."
"Alright," Li Lin acknowledged, starting to pack up her things. Then, as if remembering something, she said, "Zhang Wei, an applicant for the agent position came by earlier. I brought him into the conference room."
"Okay, I know. I'll interview him in a bit," Zhang Wei nodded and said.
"Jian, Sister Lin is out for lunch, watch the front desk for a bit," Zhang Wei instructed.
Because the Yayuan branch was currently set up with two teams, odd-numbered days were managed by Zhang Wei's team for front desk reception, while even-numbered days were handled by Su Ning's team. As for how tasks within the team were allocated, that was up to the two team leaders.
"Got it," Wang Jian replied, grabbing his things and sitting down at the front desk. Being in charge of the front desk meant a chance to receive walk-in clients, an opportunity Wang Jian naturally wouldn't refuse.
"I'm going to the conference room to interview the applicant. If anything comes up, just give me a shout," Zhang Wei instructed, walking towards the adjacent conference room.
