Chapter Twenty: Return to the Inn
“Sister Huang, Brother Li, please wait a moment. I’ll call the property owner and ask him to come to our Zhongtong office to discuss the signing.” Zhang Wei nodded to the two of them and walked into the bedroom next door.
“Hello, is this Mr. Zheng?” Zhang Wei took out his phone and dialed the owner’s number.
“Yes, it’s me,” Mr. Zheng replied.
“This is Xiao Zhang from Zhongtong. We’ve spoken before on the phone. I’ve already shown your property to the clients, and they’re very interested in purchasing it. I’d like to invite you to our office to discuss the contract,” Zhang Wei said.
“Zhongtong? Is that the agency under Building Four?” Mr. Zheng asked from the other end.
“Yes, that’s us. Are you able to come over now?” Zhang Wei inquired.
“I can, I’m nearby. About half an hour,” Mr. Zheng considered and replied.
“That’s great,” Zhang Wei said, his face lighting up. “By the way, there’s one more thing I’d like to mention.”
“You said earlier that you wanted the buyer to pay in full, right? My client originally intended to get a mortgage, but I found an excuse, saying your wife had an accident and is in the hospital, so you urgently need the money now.” Zhang Wei said a bit awkwardly, “I hope you don’t mind!”
“No problem. I do need the money, otherwise I wouldn’t sell such a good property. Has the client agreed to pay in full?” Mr. Zheng replied casually. He was a businessman himself and saw no harm in a little lie for his own benefit.
“He has agreed for now. But when we sign later, please don’t let it slip, or it might complicate things,” Zhang Wei said.
“Don’t worry, Xiao Zhang. If he asks, I’ll say my wife had an accident and is hospitalized. I’ll help you cover the lie,” Mr. Zheng said.
“Thank you for your understanding. See you soon,” Zhang Wei breathed a sigh of relief.
“Alright, see you soon.” Mr. Zheng hung up, and Zhang Wei put away his phone and walked out of the bedroom.
“Xiao Zhang, will the owner come today?” Huang Fen asked.
“Don’t worry, Sister Huang. The owner will be here in half an hour. Let’s head to the shop and wait for him,” Zhang Wei replied with a smile, then led the two out of the apartment and toward the Zhongtong office.
Ten minutes later, Zhang Wei brought Huang Fen and Li Guang back to the Zhongtong office. The receptionist was no longer Wang Min, but Li Lin.
Receptionists didn’t rotate daily; instead, each handled one client, and after receiving a client, another agent would take over. Wang Min was no longer at the front desk, indicating she had already secured a client.
“Oh, Sister Huang, you’re back from viewing properties. Let me get you a cup of water,” Wang Min said warmly, her eyes lighting up as she saw Zhang Wei walk in with two clients.
Wang Min had indeed just received a client, someone looking to rent a one-bedroom apartment. The client was very interested and had even paid a deposit for the contract in advance, so Wang Min was quite cheerful, with a seven or eight out of ten chance of closing the deal.
Although renting a one-bedroom meant a commission of only a few thousand yuan, far less than selling a property, what mattered most was money in hand. In Wang Min’s view, waiting for Huang Fen and Li Guang to buy a property could take forever.
“Sister Huang, how did you find the property you just viewed?” Wang Min asked. Although the clients were no longer hers, she couldn’t help but feel a little attached.
“Xiao Zhang found a great place. I’m very satisfied,” Huang Fen replied with a smile.
Wang Min wasn’t surprised by this. She knew Huang Fen was very keen on buying and expected her to like the property. The key was Li Guang’s attitude. If he didn’t want to buy, the deal still wouldn’t go through.
“Mr. Li, what did you think of the property?” Wang Min turned to Li Guang. She had a favorable impression of this elegant gentleman at first sight, but after several viewings where he always blocked Huang Fen from buying, her opinion had plummeted.
“Yes, the property is quite good,” Li Guang responded.
“What? What did you just say?” Wang Min thought she’d misheard and asked again.
“I said the property is good, and I’m interested in buying it,” Li Guang repeated.
How... how could this be... Wang Min was stunned. Every previous viewing, Li Guang had found fault after fault, always acting disinterested in buying. But now he was actively saying the property was good and wanted to buy—she couldn’t process it.
Xu Ming in the office had been watching the situation outside. Hearing that both spouses were interested in buying, he was also taken aback. He hurried out and said, “Miss Huang, Mr. Li, it’s been a while.”
“Manager Xu, I wondered why I hadn’t seen you. Turns out you were hiding in the office,” Huang Fen joked.
“Haha, I heard Xiao Zhang took you to view properties. Are you both satisfied?” Xu Ming asked.
“My husband and I both think the property is good and are interested in purchasing it,” Huang Fen replied.
Her confirmation shocked everyone in the office. Wang Min had worked with this client for three months without closing a deal, and yet Zhang Wei, after just one viewing, had both clients ready to sign. No wonder everyone was amazed.
“Brother Xu, I showed Sister Huang and Brother Li the property, and both are keen to buy. I’ve already contacted the owner, and he’ll be here soon to discuss the contract,” Zhang Wei said, his words settling the matter. With the owner coming to sign, the likelihood of closing was high.
“Excellent! Assistant, prepare a contract for signing,” Xu Ming instructed, then sat beside Huang Fen and her husband, asking Zhang Wei, “Tell me about the property you showed them.”
While Xu Ming, Zhang Wei, and the couple chatted, Wang Jianfa was pulled aside by Wang Min, Guo Bin, and Li Lin. Wang Min fired off questions, “Jianfa, why did Li Guang suddenly agree to buy? Which property did you show him?”
“It’s the thirty-first floor king unit in Building Eight. The property really is very good,” Wang Jianfa replied, feeling awkward under their intense scrutiny.
“I’ve seen that property, it’s indeed nice,” Li Lin nodded.
“I know that property too. I took clients to see the same layout. Huang Fen liked it, but Li Guang just wouldn’t let her buy. Why did he agree now? What did Zhang Wei say to them?” Wang Min asked urgently.
“He talked about basic info and the feng shui layout,” Wang Jianfa recalled.
“Feng shui layout? Yes, that must be it,” Wang Min said, as if she’d found the key. “Li Guang is superstitious. Zhang Wei must have used feng shui to persuade him to buy.”
“Regretful, I should’ve thought of that earlier. If I’d used feng shui, maybe Li Guang would have bought from me,” Wang Min lamented.
While Wang Min guessed Zhang Wei used feng shui to persuade Li Guang, she couldn’t possibly know that Li Guang wasn’t buying because of good feng shui, but because this property’s feng shui favored husbands at the expense of wives. Zhang Wei, with his mind-reading ability, could see through people’s thoughts. Anyone else would never have guessed Li Guang’s motives.
