This chapter concludes the storyline in the hometown, and in the next, the scene will return to the capital city.

After Zhang Wei arrived home, he shared the news with his parents and younger brother. When they learned that he had won a BMW in a lottery, their joy was mingled with disbelief. For their family, a luxury car worth over a million yuan was an unimaginable extravagance.

It was no wonder that Zhang Wei’s parents and brother were so astonished. Both his father and brother were still accustomed to modest cars like the Xiali and Santana, while Zhang Wei suddenly found himself the owner of a high-end BMW. The disparity left them at a loss for words.

Nevertheless, it was a cause for celebration. The family of four, naturally, decided to mark the occasion. At Zhang Wei’s suggestion, they invited Yang Guang and his mother to join them for a lavish meal at a restaurant, not returning home until well after nine in the evening.

The next day, apart from a brief visit to the bank to handle some business, Zhang Wei spent the day at home with his parents. He helped them review the paperwork for the house they had purchased. Apart from an uncertain completion date, there were no other irregularities with the property.

The real estate company had played a trick with the wording regarding the completion date. They had only stated that the first residential building would be completed by the end of the year, without specifying that it was the unit Zhang Wei’s parents had bought. Even if they took the matter to court, there would be little to gain.

Now that Zhang Wei was financially secure, there was no need to rush with the mortgage application. He left another one hundred thousand yuan for his parents, advising them not to trouble the developers further. As he was not yet in a relationship, there was no need to hurry into marriage—whenever the house was completed would be soon enough.

It had been a long time since Zhang Wei had been home, and with his imminent return to the capital in two days, he spent the day chatting with his parents, fulfilling his duty as a son.

After lunch on the third day, Zhang Wei took his younger brother to the car dealership to pick up the vehicle. As they approached the entrance, Yang Guang was already waiting outside the showroom, greeting them with a broad smile.

“You two are right on time. The paperwork for the new car is ready. Come on in,” Yang Guang said as he ushered the brothers inside.

“Your company is efficient. It’s only been two days and everything’s done,” Zhang Wei remarked with a smile.

“Naturally. Our company has its own channels, which makes things much simpler. If you’d handled it yourself, you’d have been running around for days,” Yang Guang replied.

Yang Guang led the brothers to the new car delivery area, where Zhang Qi was already waiting, a kraft paper folder in hand. Behind her stood a brand new BMW 730—its elegant, commanding, and regal appearance gleaming with dazzling brilliance.

Looking at the black BMW 730, Zhang Wei’s admiration was written all over his face. The grand design, exquisite lines, and elongated body; the front of the car resembled the face of a horse, with its twin kidney grilles like the nostrils of a spirited steed, ready to gallop.

“Sister Qi, is this really my brother’s BMW?” Zhang Song ran up to the car, his right hand caressing the front, his face alight with excitement.

“That’s right. BMW 730, Elegant Edition, imported from Germany, 3.0-liter engine, four doors, five seats, leather upholstery, intelligent navigation, four-wheel drive, semi-automatic transmission, and a premium audio system,” Zhang Qi rattled off the specs before turning to Zhang Wei. “Well, are you satisfied?” she asked.

“If not, can I exchange it for a BMW 740?” Zhang Wei retorted.

“Go ahead and test the car. If there are no issues, you can drive it away today.” Zhang Qi rolled her beautiful eyes, ignoring his question, and handed him the folder and the remote key. “Here are the documents and your identification.”

“There’s no need to test it. I trust your showroom wouldn’t risk its reputation by giving me a faulty car,” Zhang Wei replied, taking the folder and key, idly turning the exquisite remote in his hand.

“By the way, you brought the two hundred thousand yuan I asked you to prepare, didn’t you?” Zhang Qi inquired.

“I did. Here’s the card, and the password is…” Zhang Wei handed her the card, feeling a tinge of reluctance.

“Wait a moment. I’ll just go check,” Zhang Qi said, heading to the ATM outside to verify the balance. Once she confirmed everything was in order, she returned.

“Perfect, exactly two hundred thousand.” Zhang Qi nodded, putting away the card. “Is there anything else? If not, our transaction is officially complete.”

“After receiving such a grand gift from your dealership, how could I have any complaints? I just wanted to invite your manager to dinner to express my gratitude,” Zhang Wei said with a smile.

“Our manager had to travel on business today, so you won’t get the chance,” Zhang Qi replied, shaking her head.

“Oh? He’s not deliberately avoiding me, is he?” Zhang Wei probed.

“Of course not,” Zhang Qi replied, her tone belying her words.

In truth, Manager Wu Yong had avoided coming to the dealership precisely because he did not wish to see Zhang Wei. No matter how composed or shrewd Wu Yong might be, seeing Zhang Wei drive away in a BMW 730 from his own showroom would have been unbearable.

This was not just about a million yuan—it was a blow to his pride. After organizing so many lottery events without ever making a mistake, he had grown bolder with each grand prize, never expecting it would finally fall into Zhang Wei’s hands. It was a serious blow to his confidence.

“Well, since your manager isn’t here, I’ll invite you instead,” Zhang Wei said, making the best of the situation.

“With the manager away, I can’t leave my post as the manager on duty. Besides, we’re not strangers. There will be other opportunities,” Zhang Qi declined politely.

“Whatever you say. Just don’t tell anyone I was stingy—it’s not that I didn’t invite you, but that you didn’t come,” Zhang Wei replied, already knowing they wouldn’t join him for a meal. He was only being polite, appearing generous without spending any extra money.

“Come on, big brother, let’s not waste time. Sister Qi is no stranger—let’s get going,” Zhang Song had already claimed the front passenger seat, leaning out the window impatiently.

“See you another day, Zhang Qi, Yang Guang,” Zhang Wei waved to them, opened the car door, and got behind the wheel.

Though not his first time in a luxury car—the Audi A8 owned by Fatty Zhou was even more advanced—Zhang Wei still felt a rush of excitement sitting in the driver’s seat. The refined, stylish, and high-end interior left him unsure where to place his hands.

He took a deep breath, pressed the brake, pushed the start button on the right side of the steering wheel, and the engine roared to life. He released the electronic handbrake, shifted gears, eased off the brake, and pressed the accelerator—the car glided smoothly out of the showroom.

“Step on it, go faster!” Zhang Song urged, gesturing wildly from beside him.

“Calm down; we’re not even on the main road yet,” Zhang Wei scolded, though his foot pressed the accelerator a little harder. The car surged forward, yet remained perfectly stable, without the jolts and sways of an ordinary vehicle.

Having learned to drive from his father at a young age, Zhang Wei was a skilled driver and quickly adapted to the BMW’s feel. Soon they were on the highway, and Zhang Wei pressed the accelerator again. The car raced ahead like a wild stallion, galloping with abandon.
