Chapter 110: The Bandit Lin
The Tianwu Sect was in chaos. Everyone was frantically scouring the grounds for any trace of Lin Yanghao.
"Big Brother, you’re finally here! If you hadn’t shown up any sooner, I was about to charge in and look for you myself," Zeng Quan said, rushing forward as soon as Lin Yanghao finally appeared.
"My apologies, I kept you waiting. Let’s move quickly. That sonic wave from earlier must have been triggered by that old geezer; it’s highly likely he discovered I was escaping." Lin Yanghao had, of course, heard the sound Le Hao had emitted.
"Big Brother, the entire Tianwu Sect is locked down tighter than a drum, inside and out. Where are we supposed to go?" Because of Lin Yanghao’s escape, the sect was now so heavily fortified that not even an ant could slip through. The situation for the two of them was precarious, to say the least.
Their original plan had been for Lin Yanghao to escape and meet up with Zeng Quan, who would then lead him to safety. Zeng Fei had long been plotting to seize the Tianwu Sect, and had secretly dug a tunnel leading out from under the mountain—a move intended to allow him to infiltrate the sect and launch a surprise attack. Though the plan had been shelved, it now served as the perfect escape route for Lin Yanghao.
They had assumed that the time Lin Yanghao spent eliminating his pursuers would have been enough to get away, but they hadn't accounted for Le Hao’s trickery. In just a short time, every inch of the sect, from the peaks to the base of the mountain, had been completely sealed off.
Lin Yanghao flashed a wicked grin. "I have a plan."
"What plan?"
"You know what they say: the most dangerous place is the safest place." With that, he grabbed Zeng Quan and headed off.
Meanwhile, Le Hao was circling frantically in the sky above the sect. He had scoured the entire area outside the walls, yet there was not a single trace of Lin Yanghao. Could the boy have grown wings and flown away?
...
"Big Brother, you’re brilliant! Truly brilliant! I’m in awe," Zeng Quan exclaimed excitedly.
Lin Yanghao smirked, feeling quite smug as he mused on his own genius. "Of course. Always remember this: follow Brother Hao, and you shall attain eternal life! Stick with me, and you’ll always have the best of everything!"
As it turned out, Lin Yanghao was repeating the same trick he had pulled at the Beast Sovereign’s Palace. He looked up at the plaque above them, which bore the bold, sweeping characters: "Tianwu Sect Treasury." With the entire sect out searching for him, even a vital location like the treasury had been left unguarded, providing Lin Yanghao with the perfect opportunity.
"What are you gawking at? Get in there!" Lin Yanghao laughed, chiding Zeng Quan.
*That old geezer Le Hao dared to backstab me? Today, I’ll cut off the lifeline of your precious Tianwu Sect!* Since a courtesy demands a return, there was no way Lin Yanghao was leaving the treasury empty-handed.
In fact, he didn't just want to take; he wanted to clean the place out.
"Wow, even though this sect isn't much to look at, they’ve certainly got plenty of good loot!" Zeng Quan marveled. The Tianwu Sect possessed three high-grade spirit weapons, countless mid-grade ones, and a vast array of elixirs and forging materials.
With wide, greedy eyes, Lin Yanghao and Zeng Quan began to ransack the treasury. Everything—useful or not—was tossed into Lin Yanghao’s Chaos Ring. Zeng Quan, equally excited, began stuffing his own storage bag, but it was full within moments. He could only watch with a pained expression as Lin Yanghao continued to vacuum up item after item. It was agonizing—a heartache of missed opportunity! He wondered just how large Lin Yanghao’s storage ring could be; why wouldn't it fill up? He wanted to ask him to leave some behind, but he didn't dare. He only felt that Lin Yanghao was becoming increasingly mysterious. With such powerful techniques and so many secrets, where did he really come from? It seemed his choice to follow him had been a wise one.
As for Lin Yanghao, he was grinning from ear to ear, tirelessly collecting treasure after treasure. "I’ve truly struck it rich this time!" He began to understand why sects were so fond of plundering one another. If a small sect like this was so wealthy, he couldn't imagine the riches held by the major sects. The wealth of the Elixir Sect, the Forging Sect, and the Rune Sect must be beyond calculation!
Soon, Lin Yanghao had emptied the entire treasury. He looked at Zeng Quan with a satisfied smile. Zeng Quan, however, stood there as if turned to stone. *Do you know what I want to say to you right now? You’re a damn bandit, you know that? The problem is, couldn't you have left at least a little bit for me? Is it really appropriate for you to clean out the entire treasury all by yourself?*
Zeng Quan couldn't help but blame his own storage bag for being too small. *But even the storage rings used by the Sect Master of the Elixir Sect aren't as big as yours, are they? Are you carrying a world around with you?* Zeng Quan was closer to the truth than he realized; while the Chaos Ring wasn't exactly a small world, its internal space was nearly indistinguishable from one. Looking at the wreckage of the treasury, Zeng Quan twitched his lip, rendered speechless.
Suddenly, Lin Yanghao’s eyes lit up as they landed on a wooden chest in the corner. *How did I miss that? It would be a crying shame to leave it behind! I could never forgive myself!*
"Take it! Must take it! I won’t leave the Tianwu Sect even a single strand of hair!"
He pried the chest open to find a storage ring and several storage bags resting inside. Lin Yanghao chuckled and probed them with his divine sense. He was shocked by what he found—the bags were filled with pure, shimmering spirit stones! There were tens of thousands of mid-grade spirit stones! He then turned his attention to the storage ring. If the bags held mid-grade stones, the ring had to be even better.
"High-grade spirit stones!"
What an incredible surprise! High-grade spirit stones were hard to come by, and there were dozens of them here! This was the first time Lin Yanghao had ever seen one. He treated them like precious gems, carefully tucking them into his Chaos Ring.
He glanced at Zeng Quan, whose face had turned ashen. *Boss, can we show a little restraint? At least leave me a scrap! If you’re eating the meat, the least you could do is let me have some soup, but you’ve gulped down the soup too!* Zeng Quan looked at Lin Yanghao like a wronged child.
"Big Brother, look, you have so much stuff, can you even carry it all? If not, I can help you."
"No need. Although my storage ring isn't large, it can manage this little bit." Lin Yanghao, knowing exactly what Zeng Quan was thinking, waved a hand generously. "Stick with me, and I guarantee you’ll live like a king. Here, take this."
He tossed a pouch containing ten thousand mid-grade spirit stones and a high-grade spirit weapon of little use to him toward Zeng Quan. With a mock-sad expression, he sighed, "You know how it is, the Tianwu Sect is poor; it’s a miracle I managed to scrape even this much together for you."
