Chapter 131: The Great Disturbance at the Pill Sect (Part Two)
"Who dares to cause trouble in my Alchemy Sect!" A roar thundered from the horizon.
A few moments later, a middle-aged man in green robes appeared. It was none other than the Sect Master of the Alchemy Sect, Perfected Jin Ming.
"Sect Master, you’ve finally arrived! If you had been even a step later, you wouldn't have seen us alive," the elders cried out, shifting their demeanor instantly as if they had grabbed onto a lifeline upon seeing his return.
"Sect Master, Elder Gao has already been killed by this demon!"
"Sect Master, it’s them! It’s them!" A man followed closely behind Perfected Jin Ming—it was none other than Yu Laosan.
"Who are they?" Perfected Jin Ming asked, puzzled. He had been wondering all along who these two were, as his sect had never held a grudge against anyone of their description.
"Sect Master, they are..." Yu Laosan whispered into his ear.
In truth, only a handful of people in the Alchemy Sect knew about the incident at the Thousand Saints Swamp; even the elders were unaware. Otherwise, they would not have reacted with such shock.
"Didn't you say he was severely injured and his strength had plummeted? Open your eyes and look! Does he look even slightly wounded to you?" Perfected Jin Ming was furious. It was all because of this wretched Yu Laosan that such a disaster had been brought upon the sect, causing it to suffer such great losses.
"Sect Master, I don't know either! He was indeed severely injured before. Who could have known he would recover miraculously?" Yu Laosan replied with a miserable expression. Who could have guessed how that monster had healed? Could he have taken some kind of pill?
Meanwhile, the elders finally realized that this individual truly held a vendetta against their sect. It seemed everything was exactly as he had claimed.
"Hmph, my actions were justified. Since you are a Drought Demon, I naturally had to eliminate the menace for the sake of the people," Perfected Jin Ming declared righteously, as if he had performed a heroic deed.
"So that’s what this is about," the elders gasped in shock. This creature was a Drought Demon—a being with the strength of a Tribulation Transcendence stage expert! No wonder he was so formidable, and no wonder Elder Gao was killed in a single strike. They secretly rejoiced that they hadn't clashed with him earlier; otherwise, they would have already met the King of Hell.
"Hmph, how utterly shameless! You clearly coveted my treasures and now dare to spout such nonsense. Taste my palm!" Gu Shi, unable to suppress his rage any longer, struck out at Perfected Jin Ming.
Perfected Jin Ming realized he had no time to dodge and could only brace himself for the impact, though he felt deeply uncertain. The opponent possessed the strength of the Tribulation Transcendence stage; he was a full major realm behind.
*Boom!*
The two palms collided with a deafening crash. Perfected Jin Ming was no match for Gu Shi and was sent flying a great distance. All the disciples present gasped in terror—their own Sect Master couldn't even withstand a single strike from the intruder.
"The Drought Demon truly lives up to its reputation," Perfected Jin Ming said, struggling to stand up after spitting out a mouthful of blood.
"You caused me to nearly die; today, I shall slaughter your entire sect!" Gu Shi declared.
"Do you think the Alchemy Sect only has this much strength in the cultivation world? Many of our predecessors are merely in seclusion. Once they emerge, they will surely make you pay!" Perfected Jin Ming said with a cold face. He pulled out a jade talisman and shattered it on the ground.
The tense elders breathed a sigh of relief. They knew the Sect Master was summoning the sect's predecessors. Once they arrived, there would be nothing to fear—even ten Gu Shis wouldn't be enough to handle them.
"Hahaha! The experts of my sect will be here soon. Let’s see how you escape now," Perfected Jin Ming gloated. The other elders began to look at Gu Shi with mocking expressions, eager to see him pay a heavy price.
"Oh? Is that so? Then let them come. I am not afraid," Gu Shi said with an air of absolute indifference, leaving everyone stunned.
Lin Yanghao suddenly remembered that before coming to the Alchemy Sect, Gu Shi had visited the sect’s back mountain. Lin Yanghao had assumed he was merely scouting, but now it seemed the matter was far more complex. Gu Shi had not let him get close, so he hadn't known what the creature was up to. It seemed the truth was about to be revealed.
"What is going on?" Perfected Jin Ming’s heart began to race with anxiety. Nearly an incense stick’s worth of time had passed since he shattered the talisman, yet the predecessors had not appeared. If they didn't show up soon, he would be finished—and he was lucky Gu Shi hadn't attacked again yet.
"What? Are your predecessors unable to come? Hahahaha!" Gu Shi laughed wildly, his heart filled with triumph.
"You! You are behind this!" Perfected Jin Ming finally realized why Gu Shi had been so confident; he had prepared a countermeasure all along.
"Ha, you aren't completely stupid after all," Gu Shi remarked.
"Speak! What have you done?" Perfected Jin Ming was livid. His predecessors were unreachable, and if they couldn't arrive, he would surely die.
"Ha, I simply placed a formation around the location where your predecessors are in seclusion. They cannot break the array, so they cannot come," Gu Shi said, possessing total confidence in his own formation.
"What?" Perfected Jin Ming was dumbfounded. A zombie that could set up formations? How was this possible?
"Sect Master, there is one more thing," Yu Laosan whispered. "Behind that stone gate, where he was in seclusion, we encountered top-tier illusion arrays and various restrictions. It is no surprise he could set up such a formation."
