Chapter 28: The Superpowered Sniper Rifle [Third Update]
Of course, Zeng Hongsen was the one who had killed the most zombies. He took out two enhanced second-tier body-tempering potions and handed them to Zeng Hongsen.
“Everyone can see it for themselves—Zeng Hongsen has killed the most zombies, and done so with the most ferocity. He deserves these two enhanced second-tier potions. Let’s all learn from his example,” Luffy said, giving Zeng Hongsen a hearty slap on the shoulder. “Keep it up.”
“I will, I definitely will,” Zeng Hongsen replied, beaming with happiness as he took the potions and immediately turned away to consume them.
Luffy, meanwhile, retreated to his own room, stuffing enhanced second-tier dragon blood pills into his mouth one by one.
Yes, two hundred pills in all. He consumed them over the course of five days, fully digesting them. At first, each pill could triple his physical strength, but as he went on, the effect diminished: two and a half times, then double, then one and a half times…
After two hundred pills, Luffy’s strength had increased to two hundred times that of an ordinary person.
It had only taken five days.
That was already quite impressive.
However, the red envelope system seemed to know he was in the midst of cultivation, and did not refresh the red envelopes.
Luffy emerged from his room, a foul odor radiating from his body as black impurities seeped from his pores. He went to take a shower.
Then,
He walked into the villa’s living room and saw Zeng Hongsen standing distractedly to one side.
“Boss, you’re out!” Zeng Hongsen exclaimed, clearly delighted to see Luffy.
“Did anything happen over the past five days?” Luffy asked, looking at Zeng Hongsen.
“Not really. Every so often, a few dozen zombies would wander by, but we took care of them. We collected a total of three hundred crystal cores.” Zeng Hongsen grabbed a bag of crystal cores from the side, smiling as he handed them over.
“Not bad at all. You’ve improved quickly,” Luffy said, patting Zeng Hongsen’s shoulder. This guy now had eighty times the strength of a normal person.
He was the strongest among them.
“But five days have passed, and the vice class monitor still hasn’t returned,” Zeng Hongsen said, sounding a bit worried.
“Do you like her? Why are you so hung up on her? She hasn’t come back in five days—she probably won’t. We need to head for the city. It’s been over twenty days since the apocalypse started; who knows what the city looks like now?”
Luffy felt a surge of anticipation at the thought of meeting Qin Bailing.
“Me? How could I like the vice class monitor? The city must be beautiful,” Zeng Hongsen muttered, scratching his head and blushing. Then he turned and walked inside.
…
…
City Center.
In a lavish room, the man who wanted to kill Luffy had been unable to reach Sanqian Qingsi by phone for five days—something must have happened to him.
It seemed Qin Bailing’s deskmate had some real skills. The man flicked his cigar to the floor and crushed it underfoot.
He immediately called for a killer named Bing to come in.
“Young master, what is it?” Bing asked in a low voice, standing in front of the man, her figure voluptuous in a blue suit of armor.
Swish—
The man tossed her a photo. It showed Qin Bailing and Luffy sitting together in a classroom, smiling.
“The guy on the left is in the eastern suburbs. Go and eliminate him—make sure Qin Bailing never finds out. And take Master Chen with you.”
“The tai chi master with ten years’ experience?” Bing was a bit surprised to hear that such an expert would be involved.
“You’ll just be accompanying a team to the suburbs to kill a tier-three peak wild tiger beast. That beast has the strength of a hundred and fifty men. Its gallbladder would do me a world of good—eating it would boost my strength by a hundredfold in an instant, no matter how many potions you’ve taken. That’s something Dr. Huo learned from ancient texts. You’ll go with Yin Ba, Feng Qi, Mu Liu, Tu Wu—work together to kill the beast and bring me its gallbladder. Don’t let Qin Bailing know about this mission. Once it’s done, break away from the group and eliminate the guy in the photo,” the man said.
He was Li Chaodan, the eldest son of the Li family and vice chairman of the Li Consortium.
Fifty years ago,
The Li family had obtained the formula for the body-tempering potion from an ancient tomb, but for the past fifty years, they’d only used it on criminals and death row inmates, throwing them into the tomb to be invaded by dark energy and transformed into zombies. Then they’d kill the zombies, harvest the crystal cores, and refine the potions.
Li Chaodan himself had grown up taking body-tempering potions. Now he had the strength of two hundred and fifty men—a third-tier level—but that was considered only mid-level in the Li family; his father and grandfather were even more powerful.
Yin Ba, Feng Qi, Mu Liu, and Tu Wu each had the strength of about a hundred men.
Qin Bailing herself now possessed the strength of one hundred and eighty men.
Her progress was astonishing, but not as rapid as Luffy’s.
Ever since he’d acquired the apocalypse red envelope system, Luffy’s abilities had grown explosively, far outpacing most others.
He was now a formidable figure among the younger generation.
…
…
“Get ready to head for the city,” Luffy said sternly to everyone assembled in the living room.
“Alright,” Zeng Hongsen replied with a nod.
They headed outside.
A thunderous roar echoed from the distant forest, making Luffy jump.
“There’s a tier-three wild beast nearby. Let’s go check it out.”
“Yes, sir!”
Zeng Hongsen and the others nodded in agreement.
To Luffy, the roar of a tier-three beast sounded like the arrival of a mountain of crystal cores.
He led his people out.
Not far ahead,
They saw a group of people surrounding the mountain. Some hovered in the air, others stood atop treetops.
“Hide,” Luffy whispered urgently, ducking behind a tree. He hadn’t expected to encounter such a formidable group—who were they?
Luffy activated his Samsara Heavenly Eye. His left pupil morphed into a spinning black and white yin-yang fish.
He saw that the armored suits those people wore were identical to those worn by the man he’d beaten into amnesia before. It seemed they were connected to the one who attacked with hair as well.
So, they were all enemies.
What a small world.
Luffy narrowed his eyes.
“Prepare the steel crossbows and guns…” Luffy said with a cold smile.
He exchanged for a super-powered sniper rifle from the system,
And four particle sniper rifles, distributing them to Zeng Hongsen and a few others with sharp eyesight.
He was ready to strike as soon as they’d worn down the tier-three beast, ready to wipe them out—if they wanted to play dirty, he could too.
“Whoa, boss, this thing is incredible!” Zeng Hongsen exclaimed, marveling at the particle rifle in his hands.
“This is high-tech from a distant star—one shot, infinite ammo. It can take out tier-three beasts and humans alike,” Luffy said proudly. He’d only just discovered such a weapon today.
He took aim at one of the figures flying overhead.
But then he noticed an elderly man nearby, dressed in traditional Chinese attire, hands clasped behind his back. Though he only had the strength of ninety men,
Luffy sensed he was the most formidable among them, the flow of power in his body quite unique.
Luffy immediately aimed the super-powered sniper rifle at the old man’s heart.
The tier-three tiger beast let out a furious roar. Surrounded and attacked by so many, even the fiercest creature would eventually be worn down.
