"Alright..."
Zeng Hongsen couldn’t help but look at Lu Fei with admiration. Their leader was truly clever—it was as if he’d become a different person. When he’d transferred to their school before, he hadn’t seemed so sharp, just a bit honest and reserved. But now, it turned out he’d even written love letters—probably meant for Qin Bailing. Who would have thought Qin Bailing would end up moving to Jiuzhou City? It was really unexpected.

Meanwhile, zombies continued to pour into the valley from the mountain passes on both sides. The horde was so dense that their various howls sent chills down the spine.

“There are too many zombies! Snipers, use your submachine guns to help!”
The man leading the group in the valley shouted at the top of his lungs.

“Copy!”
Voices responded through the communicator, and several men began to fire down into the valley from different directions.

A dense hail of bullets rained down, and zombies fell one after another. Meanwhile, six men formed a circle, surrounding the Calabash Kid zombie.

This was the first Tier Four zombie Lu Fei had seen—it could even breathe fire. Who knew what other abilities it might possess?

“There are too many zombies. Call for reinforcements. We might not be able to extract this zombie’s fire core,” the leader said to a subordinate at his side. Then, drawing a laser sword from his belt, he charged toward the Calabash Kid zombie with the others.

The Calabash Kid zombie suddenly spewed flames at the leader. The man dodged quickly, but a nearby subordinate failed to escape and was instantly engulfed in scorching fire.

Screaming desperately, the man rolled on the ground, but in moments, he was reduced to a charred corpse.

“That’s terrifying! How can this zombie’s fire be so hot? Even their battle armor was burned away!”
Watching from the mountain, Zeng Hongsen stared in shock at the fire-breathing Calabash Kid zombie.

“This kind of fire must be a mutation resulting from the Tier Four evolution—possibly a mutation of the core itself,” Lu Fei observed as he watched the group besiege the Calabash Kid zombie. He realized they must be after the zombie’s core, or perhaps something else within it.

“We’ll know for sure once we go down there,” Lu Fei said, a spark of excitement in his eyes. He hadn’t expected to stumble into such an event.

“Die!”

In the valley, the leader wielded his laser sword and slashed down at the Calabash Kid zombie.

With a sickening sound, the laser sword struck the zombie’s arm, cutting deep and drawing forth a gush of blood.

The Calabash Kid zombie kicked the leader away, sending him flying. The others advanced, laser swords in hand, attacking the Tier Four zombie—since their guns were useless against it. Only the laser swords made a difference.

Blood spattered as all their swords became lodged in the Calabash Kid’s body, impossible to pull free.

The Calabash Kid zombie let out a terrifying roar—its head spinning violently as scorching flames burst in all directions.

Two men were instantly caught by the fire, collapsing to the ground as they writhed and screamed in agony. Before long, they too had turned to blackened husks.

The two survivors, having barely escaped, were left in utter terror. None of them had expected the zombie’s head to twist in such a grotesque way—it was beyond belief.

“Boss, can we move in now?” Zeng Hongsen was barely able to contain his impatience. There were so many zombies, and so many cores to be collected for body-refining serum.

“Hold on. The snipers around them haven’t come down yet,” Lu Fei immediately stopped him.

Just then, more figures rushed in from behind the group—ten in all, each wielding a laser sword as they charged the Tier Four Calabash Kid zombie.

In an instant, the Calabash Kid zombie was overwhelmed by ten laser swords, its limbs severed, blood pouring from its broken body.

With a furious roar, the Calabash Kid zombie ignited in a blaze of fire, hurling itself at the group and engulfing two more in flames. Their screams faded swiftly.

But this was only the Calabash Kid zombie’s final struggle. Gradually, it collapsed and fell still.

Yet the tide of zombies only grew, quickly overwhelming those who stood in their way. No matter how fierce the snipers’ covering fire from above, they couldn’t wipe out the entire horde.

“Snipers, target their four marksmen and take them out!”
Lu Fei raised his hand, producing a high-powered sniper rifle from his spatial ring and taking aim at one of the snipers.

“Fire on my count—three, two, one!”
With Lu Fei’s command, he and his three subordinates, each with a particle sniper rifle, eliminated all of the enemy’s snipers surrounding them.

Then Lu Fei raised his hand and gave the signal. “Charge!”

At his order, everyone surged down the mountain with him, blades drawn, charging from the flanks toward the center. After days of training, all thirty of his fighters had honed exceptional combat instincts. Their eyes were cold and emotionless as they slaughtered their way forward—each stroke brought down a zombie, each swing sent a head flying.

Lu Fei himself charged straight for the Tier Four Calabash Kid zombie, brandishing the Thousand Thunder Sword. With a sweeping slash, a curved arc of flame burst forth, cutting down scores of zombies in its path. In a flash, he closed the distance and severed the Calabash Kid zombie’s head, digging out its core—a crimson, perfectly round orb radiating intense heat.

“No!”
The surviving men shouted in fury. “That’s our kill! That core belongs to us!”

Lu Fei only sneered, pocketing the core. “Yours? You may have killed the Calabash Kid zombie, but you hadn’t claimed the core yet. Now it belongs to me.”

His subordinates had already stemmed the zombie tide, proving themselves quite capable. Lu Fei was pleased with his decision to save them before—together, they were like an army, able to hunt as many zombies as they wished. All he needed to do was take on the strongest ones; his team would earn him a mountain of cores. The thought made him feel exceedingly clever.

Lu Fei strode over to the remaining survivors. “Who are you people?”

“You should be asking who we are! We’re from the Wang Clan Legion. You’d better hand over that core—our captain is on his way!”
A furious young man shouted, unable to believe their hard-won prize—the fiery core of the Tier Four Calabash Kid zombie—had been snatched away at the last moment. Anyone would be outraged at being robbed like this.

Lu Fei sat down on a nearby stone, lowering his gaze to regard them. “I’ll wait for your captain to arrive—then I’ll wipe you all out.”

“You… you… how arrogant can you get?”
The young man was utterly astonished by the sheer audacity of the youth before him.
