Chapter 54: Founder of the Heavenly Evil Sect
“Damn it, System, you’re not going to screw me over, right? You’re having me open this stone coffin—what’s inside, really?”
Luffy felt a surge of anxiety.
If he released a vengeful spirit,
or a demon,
that would be disastrous.
“Ding, anything produced by the System is guaranteed to be exceptional.”
“Exceptional, my ass! If you’ve lied to me, I’ll beat you to death.”
Unable to restrain himself, Luffy shouted at the System, brandishing the Thousand Thunder Sword and slashing at the mysterious runes.
A metallic clang rang out, and golden light erupted. Luffy, holding the sword, was thrown back by the force—the mysterious runes radiated intense golden light.
He activated the Dragon Qi Dominance Technique, letting the dragon energy surge toward the runes on the stone coffin.
A thunderous boom resounded—the dragon energy was overpowering,
so much so that the golden light of the runes faded,
as if confronted by something superior.
The mysterious runes suddenly lifted off and flew toward Luffy’s hand,
attaching themselves to his left palm, growing dimmer.
Startled, Luffy thought the runes were about to attack him, dodging frantically, only to discover they simply merged with his hand, and then nothing else happened.
At that instant, the stone coffin—
with a deafening crash—
its lid flipped upward,
soaring into the air and landing off to the side, stirring up clouds of dust.
From within, a woman dressed in ancient palace attire burst forth, her hair flowing with the wind;
her chest was full, her waist as slender as a sheet of paper, her legs long and graceful, her skin white as snow, her face alluring yet icy cold.
There was a chill in her gaze that seemed capable of freezing Luffy in place.
“Ha ha… Thank you, young man, for releasing my ancestor.”
Suddenly a sinister voice echoed, and a group of figures in black robes descended from the opening Luffy had created—six in total: three middle-aged men, one middle-aged woman, and two youths, a boy and a girl. All their robes bore the mark of the Heavenly Evil Sect embroidered on their chests.
“Young man, you’re quite impressive. You defeated my sect’s Five Absolutes and released our ancestor. I feel both gratitude and resentment toward you.”
The five prostrated themselves before the palace-dressed woman who had landed, “Greetings, Ancestor.”
“The Heavenly Evil Sect still exists?” The woman was surprised, looking impassively at their bows, her face expressionless.
“Ancestor, since your sealing five thousand years ago, the Heavenly Evil Sect has tried countless ways to rescue you, but none succeeded. We never expected this young man would inadvertently free you.”
The sect leader knelt respectfully before her.
“Five thousand years… I was sealed… Five thousand years?” The palace-dressed woman murmured with a sigh, then turned to gaze at the moonlight pouring through the cave entrance:
“Whatever grievances you have, settle them yourselves. Since the day I was sealed here, I am no longer the ancestor of the Heavenly Evil Sect. Don’t use my name for your affairs again. Farewell.”
Suddenly recalling something, she transformed into a streak of crimson light and shot into the sky.
“Uh…” The sect leader was stunned, wholly unprepared for the ancestor to abandon them so abruptly. What now?
“Heh… That’s perfect. Now we can resolve our feud.”
Luffy narrowed his eyes at the sect leader. This man had sent the Five Absolutes to kill him—there was no way their enmity could be resolved. Only one side would survive.
“Interesting. A second-tier brat defeating fourth- and fifth-tier experts and even freeing our ancestor—today, we’ll settle this. I’m of the sixth tier. Let’s see how you deal with me.”
The sect leader sneered. The power hierarchy went as follows: first tier, thirty times ordinary strength; second tier, sixty times; third, ninety; fourth, two hundred; fifth, seven hundred; sixth, three thousand times. This wasn’t a geometric progression but an irregular leap.
The difference between each tier was staggering, so the sect leader’s arrogance was justified—today, he would destroy the youth before him.
“Today, the Heavenly Evil Sect will disappear from the nation.”
Luffy spoke coldly, completely confident—his immense strength fed his certainty.
“Kid, you’re just a second-tier rookie, don’t get ahead of yourself. Heartless, Ice Absolute, you two can finish him off.”
The sect leader didn’t believe the youth could best his newly promoted disciples. Both were fifth-tier, seven hundred times the strength of a normal person—one finger would suffice to crush the boy.
“I alone am more than enough.”
Heartless responded frostily, looking at Luffy with contempt. To him, the youth was merely second-tier, easily finished in moments.
“Fine!”
Ice Absolute replied, her expression equally cold.
“Heh… Don’t you want to attack together? I’ll give you one chance, otherwise you’ll regret it.”
Luffy stood with hands clasped behind his back, calm and unruffled. In his eyes, these people were already dead, yet they dared to posture before him, not realizing they faced the king of posturing himself.
“Kid, your strength is nothing. I could crush you with a single finger. You only freed our ancestor through sheer luck.”
Heartless sneered, dismissing Luffy entirely.
“Luck favors the prepared.”
Luffy replied, hands still behind his back, “I could wipe you out with a single finger. Let’s see whose finger prevails.”
“Fine, go die.”
Heartless hadn’t expected such audacity—he’d seen arrogant people, but never anyone this bold, gambling with their life. Let him die, then. “Whoosh—”
He jabbed a finger at Luffy, black evil energy surging toward him.
Luffy responded in kind, pointing with a single finger, a drop of dragon energy shooting toward Heartless.
It was as swift as lightning.
“Whoosh, whoosh—”
The two forces collided; the black evil energy dissolved instantly, and the dragon energy struck Heartless in the heart.
Heartless’s eyes widened as he spat blood, his complexion ghostly pale.
Suddenly, flames ignited across his body—fire-aspected dragon energy, scorching beyond imagination even in such a small amount.
“How is this possible!” Ice Absolute exclaimed, eyes wide in shock.
“Not good.” The sect leader rushed toward Heartless.
“Trying to save him? Did you ask my permission?”
Luffy spoke with domineering force. Flames erupted from Heartless, reducing him to ashes. Daring to challenge Luffy meant only one outcome—death. And for such a villain, death was well deserved.
“You… You actually killed my disciple!” The sect leader roared in fury. His beloved disciple was gone in an instant—unbearably infuriating. Evil energy swirled around him as he charged at Luffy like a demon king, unleashing a thunderous punch aimed at Luffy’s heart.
As swift as lightning.
