“Yes, it’s me. What, are you so afraid to see me?”
Luffy turned around, hands clasped behind his back, and spoke with calm indifference.

The man in blue from the Wang family and the others from the Li family all looked a little surprised.
Why was the Wang family’s squad leader so shocked, even trembling slightly?
Was it excitement from seeing his prey, or was it fear?

“Does Squad Leader Nan like men? Is he into S&M? That’s a bit much, isn’t it?”
That was all the man in blue could imagine.
After all,
In his mind, the squad leader was invincible—no matter who he faced, it was always resolved with a single punch.
But today, seeing him this agitated in front of this young man...
Could it be he was afraid?
That would be disastrous.

He glanced at the squad leader,
and saw him sweating profusely, as if he was facing something overwhelmingly powerful.
Could this youth be a demon?

He stared at the boy in confusion, completely unable to understand why the squad leader was so terrified.
“Squad leader, what are you afraid of? He’s only third tier—go beat him up!”
“Exactly, what are you afraid of? He dared to disrupt the scene, arrest him and give him a whipping!”
The man in black from the Li family said, exasperated.

“Do you dare to hit me? I’ll give you my face to strike!”
Luffy spoke with nonchalance, even leaning his face forward.

This made Wang family squad leader Zhang Rishan tremble in terror. How unlucky could he be, to run into this demon here? Never mind that the demon was only third tier—his power was surely beyond measure. Did he dare lift a hand against him? That would be suicide.
One move, and he’d be dead for sure.

“Greetings, Master Fei. How would I dare lay a hand on you?”
Zhang Rishan, saying this, turned and kicked his subordinate,
“You idiot! It’s fine if you don’t know Master Fei’s strength, but I’ll teach you now. In the future, whenever you meet Master Fei, you must bow and salute. Understand?”

“Aagh!” The man in blue howled as he was kicked aside.
“That’s for disrespecting Master Fei. Remember it next time.”

Then,
Zhang Rishan walked over to the Li family man.

“You… what are you trying to do? I’m from the Li family—you have no authority over me!” The man in black shrank back in fear, uncertain of Zhang Rishan’s intentions.

“Heh, once you’ve offended Master Fei, there’s no Li or Wang family anymore. Kneel and beg Master Fei for mercy, unless you want to die.”

Zhang Rishan’s heart was heavy with bitterness; running into this person he’d hoped never to see in his life felt like the worst luck imaginable.

“Screw you! Are you out of your mind? You’re high-tier and you’re scared of a third-tier kid?”

The Li family man was utterly dumbfounded, unsure if Zhang Rishan had lost his mind or was simply blind.

“Shut up! Do you need me to teach you? Do you even know what true strength means? Master Fei’s power is beyond your comprehension. Kneel, now!”

With a kick, Zhang Rishan forced the man in black to his knees.

Then, like an obedient lapdog, Zhang Rishan walked up to Luffy.
“Master Fei, have I appeased you? Is this satisfactory?”

“This is fine—you’ve done well. Now, tell me the details of what happened here.”

Luffy lifted his gaze to Zhang Rishan, then looked away.

“The victim’s name was Zhang Sandong, a local resident. He was killed here last night coming back from drinking. Our investigation found beast claw marks on the corpse, and the coroner determined that a kind of wildcat drained his life force.”

Zhang Rishan thought for a moment, then spoke earnestly, “Master Fei, are you concerned about this matter?”

“Of course!”
Luffy had no intention of letting such a beast prowl near his home. It must be dealt with—better to be safe than sorry.

“The crime likely occurred around 3 a.m. last night. If we set up cameras in the area, we should be able to catch the creature,”
Zhang Rishan said with conviction.

“Very good. Keep up the good work, and call me if you have any new developments.”
Luffy gave Zhang Rishan his phone number,
then turned and walked away.

Zhang Rishan saw him off respectfully, his face ashen. Every time he encountered this demon, nothing good came of it—what rotten luck, having to report to him now as well.

Luffy returned to his garden, sat among the flowers, and received a call from Qin Bailing.
“At home?” she asked.

“Yes, I’m home. What’s wrong?” Luffy replied.

“Make sure your parents stay inside and don’t wander off. Did you see the news?”
Qin Bailing reminded him.

“I did. Don’t worry, I’m here,” Luffy said with a smile.

“Good. I suspect this might be a reconnaissance mission before a zombie assault—maybe the wild beast is probing our defenses. I’m afraid there could be a joint attack by wild beasts and zombies on our safe zone. That would be dangerous.”
Qin Bailing’s concern was clear.

“Don’t worry. With me here, even if zombies and wild beasts attack together—or even if aliens invade—there’s nothing to fear,”
Luffy said, confidence radiating from him.

“I’m touched—go on, keep boasting,”
Qin Bailing said, a little moved, though she knew Luffy was exaggerating. Last time, surviving an attack by three sixth-tier zombies was pure luck.

Still,
this incident in the safe zone was too bizarre—caution was necessary.

“Have some of your team protect our parents. I’m not always around to guard them,”
Qin Bailing said seriously.

“Of course, don’t worry. Both your parents and mine will be fine,”
Luffy promised, then called Zeng Hongsan.
“Ask Zeng Shuna to bring four people over.”

“Got it, boss.”
Zeng Hongsan nodded, left his room, and approached Zeng Shuna.
“The boss wants you to bring four strong team members to see him. He’s probably having you protect his parents.”

“Understood.”
Zeng Shuna nodded, found several capable members, and brought them to the address Luffy had given.

Luffy was waiting at the entrance to the neighborhood. He led Zeng Shuna and the others inside.

“It’s simple. Two of you guard the two people in this house, and two guard the two in the other house,”
Luffy said sternly, pointing at the two villas.
“As long as you do a good job, there will be a reward.”

“Yes, boss,” the girls replied seriously.

“Good. Zeng Shuna, hasn’t Zhao Liying come back yet?” Luffy asked.

“No, she said she’d be back today, but she still isn’t. Something must have happened,”
Zeng Shuna replied, a sense of foreboding growing in her heart.

Just then, Luffy’s phone rang.
“Help me, Paradise KTV.”

Then,
the line went dead with a series of beeps.

Wasn’t that Zhao Liying’s voice? Paradise KTV?
